"John/Laurie/Carlos/Lisa" - August 15

This could be a sentimental show. We have...oh...you'll see.

John Jurisch - Naval Deployment - He was in Iraq. He has to be the crowd favorite, of course.
Laurie Merrill - She's a long black-haired college student looking to become an English teacher.
Carlos Coll - We get a Latino! He's from the South, and makes his living as a Pro Inline Skater.
Lisa 'The Liquidator' Oldfield - Lisa is dealing with cancer and she could be the new sentimental favorite. The oldest (and plumpest) one in the bunch is a member of a women's pool league. She may be what you call a 'hustler'. We'll see if she is...

John starts the table as we start ROUND 1 - he challenges Laurie for $2,000. Laurie decides to shrink the bet size to $1,000, despite the booing of the crowd. Carlos bets $500 on John to win. Laurie takes him on the bet. John starts - and gets nothing on the break. Laurie scratches on her first shot, which gives John the control back. Laurie bets $500 to John that he can't make more than 3 in a row, and he takes it. He sinks the 1 with ball in hand, but misses the 2 and Laurie gets half of her wager back. After another Laurie miss, John gets control and now Lisa wants a $500 more than 3 ball bet. John takes it, and makes the first ball...and once again misses his second shot. $500 for Lisa as John loses his second straight bet. We get back and forth misses until we have a 7 and 9 back and Lisa in control. She makes the 7 and the 9 and picks up the first challenge. John has turned into a walking ATM Machine.

Laurie - $7,000
Lisa - $5,500
Carlos - $4,500
John - $3,000

Laurie challenges Carlos for $1,000. Carlos wants $1,500. Laurie stays at $1,000. Lisa bets $1,000 on Carlos. Laurie wants $500, so that's the bet. Lisa also gets a $500 on Carlos with John. Laurie wants a $500 bet that she will make a ball on the break. Lisa takes it - and takes $500 on it. Now Laurie makes a ball - a 7 - but she also sends the cue ball in for the scratch. Carlos misses and Laurie sinks the 2. She misses the 3 and sets up a 3-9 combo for Carlos. Lisa bets $500 that he won't make the shot. Carlos takes it...and misses. More moolah for Lisa. A bunch of scratches later, Laurie makes the 5 and 6, and with the 7 and 8 made earlier, it's only a 9 ball left. She misses the corner she wanted the ball to go in, but the ball bounces into the opposite corner for the win! That's Lady Luck for you.

Laurie - $8,000
Lisa - $6,000
Carlos - $3,000
John - $3,000

Lisa is up next. Laurie wants $1,000. Lisa wants more ($2,000) but Laurie isn't having any of that. John bets Laurie $500 on a ball on the break. Laurie does in fact get a ball on the break - the 9 ball, which ends the match right there. Well, that's one way to beat Lisa - don't let her on the table.

Laurie - $9,500
Lisa - $4,500
Carlos - $3,000
John - $3,000

With that, Laurie and Lisa will be sitting out the first elimination match. John and Carlos won't, as they have to play. Laurie bets $500 that John will make a ball on the break and Lisa says yes. John can't make it and Lisa picks up $500. Laurie wants to make her $500 back and bets on John to win the match. Lisa takes the bet as well. John hits the 2, 3 and 4, but misses the 5 and Carlos takes the table. After a Carlos miss, John keeps the table going and only the 9 is left. Can he sink it? No he can't and Carlos finally gets the table on the only time it counts....but he chokes. John takes advantage and sends Carlos packing.

Laurie - $9,500
John - $6,000
Lisa - $4,500
Carlos - OUT

Lisa and Laurie play for player control as we play Railroad. How long will it take to sink 3 balls on the rail? a scratch adds 10 seconds to your score. Lisa, who is battling cancer (awwwww) will go first. She gets it done in 20 seconds. Laurie gets 2 in, but she can't sink the third and Lisa starts with control. She wants blood from Laurie - $3,000 as revenge for last game. To add insult to injury, John bets Lisa $500 that she won't make a ball on the break. Lisa does that - but it's not the 9, so the match continues. Lisa runs like a freight train, but misses the 8. Laurie sinks that, but misses the 9 (ouch), but Lisa returns the favor and chokes on a side shot. Laurie doesn't, and she wins a legit game against her arch-rival.

Laurie - $12,500
John - $5,500
Lisa - $2,000
Carlos - OUT

Laurie now goes after John for $3,000. She scratches on the break and Johnny takes over by hitting the first 4 balls in. Laurie shoots the other 4 balls in and leaves the 9 on a tough bank shot. A win from Lisa will give her a huge financial cushion, and she double banks it in! Wow!

Laurie - $15,000
John - $3,000
Lisa - $2,000
Carlos - OUT

That brings us to the second elimination match between John and Lisa. John takes the break and gets nothing from it. She sinks the 1 and goes for the 2-9 combo for the kill. John for the heck of it bets $500 with Laurie, and gets it, thanks to a miss. John lets Lisa shoot the shot again, and Lisa whiffs completely. John hits a few shots but misses the 4. Lisa sinks that and the party is over for John. With a wide open table, Lisa nails the 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 for the match.

Laurie - $15,000
Lisa - $4,000
John - OUT
Carlos - OUT

The next table game for control and John's $1,000 extra that he left is Around The World. Whoever clears a ball in every pocket in the fewest strokes wins. Laurie gets them all in 17 strokes - and that seems to be way too many to leave The Liquidator. It is - Lisa gets it done in 15 and she picks up a huge $1,000 - huge because instead of having to be all-in three times to win, she only has to win twice.

Laurie - $15,000
Lisa - $5,000
John - OUT
Carlos - OUT

MATCH 1 - Lisa takes the break and sinks both the 6 and 7. She goes for the 1 and misses, giving Laurie an easy shot at the 1. She makes that and the 2, but leaves the 3. Lisa makes that, the 4, and now has an open wide table. Down goes the balls and only the 9 is left. Lisa needs this to force another game, but misses the 9 and Laurie can now close out the match. Laurie makes the 9....and SCRATCHES! That respots the 9 for Lisa, who makes it and averts disaster. Lisa is still thrilled to be here, while Laurie is still muttering to herself.

Laurie - $10,000
Lisa - $10,000
John - OUT
Carlos - OUT

MATCH 2 - This is it, as both players each have $10,000. Lisa decides to break again, and once again gets the 6 and 7 - but she also scratches and Laurie has control. Laurie misses the 1 and you can tell that she is unnerved from missing the 9 ball from the last match. Laurie gets the shot back after Lisa makes the 1 and 2. She hits the 3 and 4 and Laurie is getting her groove back. Down goes the 5 and only the 8 and 9 are left. Laurie whiffs on the 8 and Lisa gets ball in hand on a wide open table. Lisa makes the 8, and only the 9 separates her from $20,000. Lisa shoots...and sinks it! A crying Lisa wins $20,000 while a crying Laurie can only wonder what could have been.

You won't have to wait that long to see what could have been. Join us in 7 days to figure that one out.
