Let's Name Our Chicken Phil
November
25

In the last leg, Ron was hurting, our teams were milking, and little kids and racers alike were learning. But after a close call, it was Marianna & Julia who were leaving. Now where are the Racers heading?

PIT STOP: Bingo, Burkina Faso

After their requisite 12 hours, Azaria & Hendekea get going at 7:58a.

ROUTE INFO
Follow a marked path to a nearby village and find Daki Saga, the tribal chief, who will present you with your next clue and a gift of generosity. You have $0 for this leg of the Race.

And the gift.. it's a chicken!

ROUTE INFO
Take a taxi approximately 100 miles to Bouda Pelegtanga and search for your next clue. As a sign of respect to the tribal chief, you must keep your chicken with you at all times during this leg of the Race.

No chicken, no check-in.

So the name of the game is "Defend your chicken."

The teams, one by one, find the chief, get the chicken, and head over to Bouda Pelegtanga.

Shana & Jennifer decide to name their chicken Phil, on account of each others' spiky combs.

Azaria & Hendekea are first to the village, but Hendekea needs to go to the bathroom. Well, if you gotta go.

That opens up the floodgates for Nate & Jen, who find this...

DETOUR
SHAKE YOUR PAN or SHAKE YOUR BOOTY

SHAKE YOUR PAN: Take part in a local African tradition by going to a mine and panning for one ounce of gold. You will be judged objectively.

SHAKE YOUR BOOTY: Take part in a local African artform by learning and taking part in a ritual tribal dance. You will be judged subjectively by three judges. If they are impressed, you will receive your next clue. If not, you will incur a 10-minute penalty.

Nathan's Jennifer's a former Clippers dancer. TK & Rachel... were not. Both teams decide to shake their bon-bons.

On the road, it seems like every other team has passed Kynt & Vyxsin.

Jennifer tries to teach Nathan how NOT to move like a white boy. Seems to be working. Heh. No... No creativity. Ten for white-boy moves.

Nic & Don decide to mine for gold, while it's revealed to us that Ronald is a mad dancer.

Back to So You Think You Can Dance with Azaria & Hendekea.... and they move onto the next round!

ROUTE INFO
Travel on foot along the marked path to Pelegtanga Market, where you will find your next clue.

CAUTION! U-TURN AHEAD!

This is a new wrinkle in the 12th Race. Here's how it works.

U-TURN
A U-Turn is found at the end of a Detour. Teams can use the U-Turn to slow down the progress of another team by having them perform the Detour task that they didn't perform. Teams can use the U-Turn only once in the entire Race, AND there are only three of them along the course, so they must decide whether or not it is in their best interests to use it.

Nathan & Jennifer, meanwhile, are allowed to proceed after their 10 are up. "I'm going to get so much crap from the dancing world when we get back." Yep.

Azaria & Hendekea elect not to U-turn. Next clue.

ROUTE INFO
Travel by taxi to the outskirts of Ouagadougou, and find the Tampouy Goat Market, where you will find the next clue.

TK & Rachel... are lost. Nic & Don continue their tresure hunt, while Ron & Christina are doing the butt.... sexy sexy... I don't think the locals are impressed. 10 for butt bouncing.

Nic & Don get an ounce of gold and head to the market. TK & Rachel arrive on scene.

Nate & Jen decide not to U-Turn, wanting to win this race "like freakin' men."

Kynt is a dance ninja. He & Vyxsin move on. They decide to use the u-turn later. Neither do Ron & Christina or Donald & Nic.

TK finally hits gold.

Shana & Jennifer dance... and they're good enough. So it's a race to the U-Turn Box. The Blondes decide...

"It's wrong."

"It's a game."

TK thinks that it's a bad move. Shana thinks that karma's a bitch. But Jennifer says that it's a game.

On the road to Ouagadougou, we notice a bunch of chickens and goats crying. They're on their way to market, so they have reason to. So are we, because at the market...

ROADBLOCK
WHO'S READY FOR A JUGGLING ACT?

Team members must load a bicycle with a full load, including a potentially unruly goat, then deliver said load to a market place, where they must deliver their supplies in exchange for the next clue.

Azaria & Jennifer are the first to load up.

Meanwhile, Lorena & Jason feel like they're on American Idol. That's on another network.

Back at the Roadblock, the siblings pull ahead. Nic & Christina decide to take on the task. Meanwhile, Lorena & Jason discover that they've been left a gift from the Blondes...

U-TURN
LORENA & JASON!

Azaria & Hendekea are the first to make their deliveries, and get...

ROUTE INFO

PIT STOP

Travel by taxi through Ouagadougou to the Hotel De Ville, the PIT STOP for this leg of the Race. REMINDER: You must have your chicken to check in. WARNING! The last team to check in MAY BE ELIMINATED!

Lorena & Jason are stuck looking for gold. Vyxsin is stuck at market due to an unruly bike. TK & Shana are still debating the merit of the U-turn.

Vyxsin is stuck in the mud when she gets help from the local kids.

PIT STOP: Hotel De Ville; Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

So now it's a race to the hotel, where Azaria & Hendekea and Nathan & Jennifer race to the mat... and it looks like a photo finish, but...

"Azaria & Hendekea... You are team number one!" Their third first-place finish! And for their finish, a Yamaha motor scooter each. Unfortunately, Nate & Jen will have to settle for second place. It was VERY close. Hendekea didn't feel comfortable in just letting people come in front of them.

Meanwhile, deliveries a-plenty at the market as the rest of the teams (sans Lorena & Jason) head over to the Pit Stop. Vyxsin has a moment to take in the hospitality of Mother Africa.

Lorena & Jason decide that they are not going to give up. Shana can't find anyone to deliver their wares to. Rachel can, but she's a bit lost herself.

Ronald & Christina are in third, while Nicolas & Donald get fourth.

Rachel finally has her clue in hand, but now she can't find her partner! Shana & Jennifer pass them.

Kynt & Vyxsin are in fifth, relishing in the happy faces that they met along the way. Shana & Jennifer are #6.

Rachel goes back to Safi Baba, who redirects her toward TK. They finally arrive in sventh.

That leaves one team remaining. And they never gave up, but unfortunately a U-turn sealed Lorena & Jason's fate as the last team to check in and the next team to be eliminated.

After Leg 4: BURKINA FASO - BURKINA FASO
1) Azaria & Hendekea: trip to Canada, trip to Bermuda, motorscooters
2) Nathan & Jennifer
3) Ronald & Christina
4) Nicolas & Donald
5) Kynt & Vyxsin
6) Shana & Jennifer
7) TK & Rachel
ELIMINATED) Lorena & Jason - sport bikes
