Sara Terrell
(veterinary technician from Collinsville, CT);
$17,999 |
|
Jack Martin
(civil engineer from Medford, MA) |
|
Allison Otto
(lawyer from Arlington, VA) |
Five of the last six
games have been won by women. Will Sara repeat and prove
that her win was no fluke?
She
starts with $200 Biblical Quotes, but Jack finds the
Daily Double under $800 The US President Who...
After a scoring change that gives him second place, he
says those magic words... "Let's make this a true Daily
Double." The clue: ... has a foreign capital named after
him.
"Who is Monroe?" Right for $3600! He builds up
to a lead of $8200 to Sara's $3800. Allison, with $1600,
starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Bestselling
Pageturners. Jack Hangs a "UE" for $2000 for the first
Daily Double. He bets the level on this: originating in
the Caribbean, it's a popular ballroom dance
characterized by a limping step. "What is the merengue?
Right for $13,400. Back to pageturners, as Sara goes
with the $800 clue for the second Daily Double. She goes
$3000 on this: "The Matarese Countdown", "The Osterman
Weekend", "The Icarus Agenda". "Who is... James
Patterson?" Nope, it's Robert Ludlum, as she is left
with $6400. She goes back up to $7600 against Jack's
$13,400. Allison has $4400.
Final Jeopardy! in
"British Royalty": just prior to her death in 1536,
she told Sir William Kingston, "I have a little neck."
Correct question: who was Anne Boleyn? Or as my sister
calls her, number two.
The ladies are right.
Jack... is wrong. Sara wins it with $33,199 for two
days. |

The
Price is Right by Travis Schario, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
Host: Bob Barker |
|
After a near $300,000 day
and a take of $147,517 for Vickyann yesterday, there may
not be much left in the warehouse. Let's find out.
Christine Payette, Jose Villacana, Leah Mitchell, and
Brenda Washington-Fredrickson take their place in
Bidders' Row (before Bob makes his way down the aisle)
to bid on a Bull barbecue island. Christine captures the
$3806 grill and makes her way to the Price Tag to play
One Away for a bright yellow Ford Mustang. The fake
price: $31534. Christine sets the price to $22,625
netting three horn blasts. Changing the price to $20,645
nets her.....nothing. Real price: $20,425.
Next, Leah takes her place at the Price Tag after
capturing a $2074 Meade LX90 GPS telescope. Her game:
Grand Game with a target of $5.00. To choose from; David
jalapeno sunflower seeds, O Cedar Smart Grip squeegee,
Pillsbury crescent rolls, AZO cranberry supplement,
Purina Cat Chow, and Betty Crocker skillet potatoes.
Leah, unsure if our American prices are close to the
Canadian prices (as she is from Montreal), goes with the
rolls ($2.39), the seeds ($1.09), and the potatoes
($1.89). With the audience's blessing, she goes for the
sweep with the squeegee. Not a good idea at $5.99.
Should have gone with the cat food.
T-MAC NOTE: Fingers and Roger got some serious camera
time, as Bob asked them if the American prices were much
different from the Canadian prices. I even got some
camera time, standing back in the shadows!
To finish out this bleak first half, Brenda claimed a
Yamaha Clavinova digital piano, priced at $2595, in a
very roundabout way. Wanting to bid "$1 up from the
highest," Bob bids $2451 for her. Well, that gave her
the win and the opportunity to play Race Game for over
$16,000 in stuff. What stuff? The Heartland "Flaming
Fridge", Oceanic SCUBA gear for two, a John Deere
utility vehicle, and a Ridgeway Lexington grandfather
clock. The tags: $2114, $3150, $4999, and $6130. With a
quick "onyourmarkgetsetGO" from Bob, Brenda places $6130
on the fridge, $2114 on the gear, $4999 on the John
Deere, and $3150 on the clock. She rushed back, pulled
the arm down, HIT ALL FOUR IN :15, THEN WENT BACK!! Bob
waved her back, and she went over and nearly took Roger
out with a big bear hug. From Bob: "I helped her get up
here and she goes and hugs Roger!" Although she rocked
Race Game, and won another $1000 on the Wheel (and
hugged Roger again), Christina got $1000 on the Wheel as
!
well, and beat Brenda in the Bonus Spinoff 80-40.
Let's kick off the second half with William Cahill
capturing an Apple Mac Pro worth $1699. He jumped to the
Turntable ahead of Bob to Squeeze for a Panasonic 42"
plasma TV with an Encore! TV console. With the setup at
6 8 4 9 3, he quickly whipped out the 4. The price
squeezed to $6893, but the 8 should have been the one to
go. ARP: $6493.
OK, come on. Let's give SOMETHING away! Let's try with
Michael Dunlop, a U of M student, after he captured a
$2205 Antiques Roadshow curio cabinet. Once more to the
Turntable to play Money Game for a Ford Focus Wagon SE.
The Board:
80 35 76
18 50 19
95 17 44
$ - - 5 - -
Snatching 18 first, and getting $18, he moves to 19 and
fills in the front. Taking a hint from the audience, he
then moves to 35, winning $35 more ($53). He then goes
for 44 and wins the car!!
Finally, Ben Kanani captured a Capresso C-1300 espresso
maker (and a supply of Hot Pockets), worth $1000. His
game: Two for One for a Stamina Pilates machine and a
Kasson pool table, a package worth $4215. The board:
8 3 6
$ $ $
4 0 0
He took the 2nd number free (3), and filled in 8 and 0
as the remaining, and won both prizes. Unfortunately,
his winning came to an end there, as Michael made it to
the Showcases with a one-spin 45, beating out William
(10 + 10) and Ben (who went over; 130).
T-MAC NOTE: Somewhere online years ago, there was a
"Price" drinking game. One of the drinks came with
someone winning the Showdown with a score less than 50
cents. Now, everyone take a shot, and move on.
Michael is the Top Winner, and Christine is the
Runner-Up. Showcase #1 is your standard
Carolinachair.com living room, a Riverside 3-piece table
group, Hibernia Woolen Mills carpeting, a 1668
International gemstone globe, and a trip to Tokyo (6n @
Century Hyatt Tokyo). Michael passed on that one,
sending it to Christine for a $14,000 bid.
Showcase #2 has Shane and Rachel square dancing (with
Rich as the caller...off camera, naturally). They dance
for a trip to London (6n @ Holiday Inn Kings Cross), a
Funtek USA exercise trampoline, and a West Wight Potter
19 ft. sailboat. Michael's bid: $29,550.
Christine's Showcase totaled $17,924 for a difference of
$3924. Not bad. Michael's Showcase? $24,045 and he's
over. Christine walks away with a total take of $22,730.
STATS: 3/6; $74,508 and a hug for Roger from Bob. |

Guzmans try to steal with a guanabana... Nope. Ortiz get
178. Other answer: strawberry.
Triple Round: something
that works with a spring (3). Leonardo gets the top

sweep, 529-178.
Dinero Rápido: Carolina
and Leonardo only get 165 for $500.
|
Reyes (Genoveva,
Jose Luis, Fernando, Gonzalo, Hector); $1500, two

#1, watch the house. Watch the garden is the sweep
answer for the lead, 239-163.
Triple: besides Latin
cooking, the cuisine of what country is liked around the
world (3)? Hector fires with China... #1! America and
Italy finish it off for the win, 454-239.
Jose Luis and Genoveva try
again for the Dinero Rápido, but first... bring forth
the lucky table! We get... another $500! Jose Luis gets
137. Genoveva gets... the rest for $5000! That gives
them $7000 for three games. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire? by Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check local listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Today's show starts with a
clip from last season of Dante Constable, who had the
following question on the
May 5, 2006 episode...
[$250,000]
What element, like water, has an unusual physical
property that causes it to expand when it freezes?
A: Silicon
B: Polonium
C: Bismuth
D: Fluorine
Those who saw it may remember that he went for it and
said A, but the answer was given as C. Now, as Meredith
explains, although C is still correct, it has been
recently discovered that silicon also expands when it
freezes, so technically, A is actually correct as well!
As a result, Dante Constable (now hailing from Las
Vegas, NV) is back, and due to the technicality, he has
been given credit for a correct answer at that level,
and is now at $250,000! His companion, M.J., who was in
the audience then, is back in the audience now, and she
says she was mad at him for going for it then. I can
understand that, but I wonder how she'll feel if he goes
for it here, because Dante, with no lifelines left (he
used them all), will now face a question at a level that
we haven't seen any questions from since Season 3. And
here it is...
[$500,000]
In 1996, the Pillsbury Bake-Off awarded its first
million-dollar prize to the creator of what recipe?
A: Macadamia Fudge Torte
B: Cream Cheese Brownie Pie
C: Crescent Caramel Swirl
D: Chocolate Praline Layer Cake
There is no way Dante is going to attempt this one,
though. He has decided to walk. After we see that it was
A, he walks outta there with a check for $250,000!
Next up is Danielle Radford (Acton, MA). She has some
good news of her own; she's getting married in 3 months!
The wedding has just about been planned out completely,
but she could still use some money for some final stuff.
So, with that, Danielle starts by knowing that attendees
keep their faces covered at a masquerade. She sweeps the
lower tier, then faces this...
[$2,000]
The period before recorded history, prehistory is
commonly divided into what three "ages"?
A: Steel, brass and nickel
B: Platinum, gold and silver
C: Water, earth and wind
D: Stone, bronze and iron
Danielle asks the audience, and D gets 90% of the vote.
Danielle trusts them... and they're right! A couple of
questions later, and this pops up...
[$16,000]
Celeb baby Shiloh Jolie-Pitt shares her first name with
a famous Civil War battlefield in what U.S. state?
A: Tennessee
B: North Carolina
C: Virginia
D: Pennsylvania
Danielle decides to call her dad, Dennis, and he's
thinking C. Danielle goes with that... but it's A! Ouch.
That sends her home with $1,000.
In the hot seat now is Carol Martinez (Wilmington, DE).
It seems that she has a severe case of road rage, as a
result of hearing this show on the radio! When she hears
someone making a mistake, she yells at her radio! Well,
she's nervous now, because she doesn't want to make such
a mistake. We'll see what happens, as Carol starts by
knowing that a chin-up is similar to a pull-up (though
if I tried chin-ups, I'm certain I'd be saying "I give
up!" after some time). She gets to $1,000, then
eventually reaches this...
[$16,000]
According to estimates by the Census Bureau, the U.S.
population will reach what number in October 2006?
A: 250 million
B: 275 million
C: 300 million
D: 325 million
Carol calls her neighbor, Doug, but he doesn't know. He
was about to give a guess, though, but time ran out as
he was saying "2-", possibly leaning towards A or B. So,
Carol uses the 50:50. C and D remain, so whatever guess
Doug would have said would have been wrong. All that's
left now is to ask the audience, and she does so. 81% of
the audience says C. Carol goes with C...and it is C!
And there's the horn. What a show this was! And Carol
will be back tomorrow to see if she can win more! |
