Dinapoli
(Danielle, Mandi, Karen, Samantha, Michael) from
Allentown, PA |
For the record, the
Dinapolis took the train. Round 1: a kind of place that
people get throw out of
(6). Danielle gets number one with a bar. They also get
school and the movies, but the champs get a house for
76. Other answers: restaurant, sporting event.
Round 2: a reason people
end an extramarital love affair (6). Mandy gets #6, the
spouse. Guilt, stress, and loss of interest are up
there, but the number one, because they got caught. The
champs have a chance to steal with you find someone new.
Nope. The Dinapolis have 79. Other answer: came to
senses.
Double Round: an animal
that starts with "G" (5). Tom gets #2, goat. Karen gets
#3, gorilla. Alex gets #1, giraffe. They also get their
goose. The Dinapolis try guinea pig for the steal... How
cute. But wrong. The Guyoviches have 260. Other answer:
groundhog.
Triple Round: something
that shrinks (4). Robert
gets the top answer, underwear (clothes). People and
food also make the list. The challengers have one more
shot at it. "Your bank account!" Could be... YES!
Dinapolis win, 331-260.
Michael & Mandi go for
the big bank account in Fast Money. And seven questions
later, boom. $20K in the bank. |

Diane Mettam
(pastor from Independence, CA); $19,400 |

Jeff Pandin
(history teacher from Alexandria, VA) |
|
Susan Klak (teacher from Plainfield, IL) |
The College Championship
is still a week or three away, but the teachers are
getting their licks against a woman of the cloth (with
the collar on today... she means business!). Diane
starts with $200 The Small Stuff. So far, it's all small
stuff for Diane, who's on the red side of $1600. Susan's
on the blue side at the TV time out, while Jeff is in
front with $2800.
Susan finds the Daily
Double under $1000 Ends in 2 Vowels. Trailing only by
two Benjamins, Susan bets $1500 on where St. Anthony is
buried. "What is ... Genoa?" Nope, it was Padua, as
Susan now has $1700. She ends the round in second with
$2900 to Jeff's $5000 even. Diane with $600 is going to
need some divine intervention as she starts Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400
Scenes from a Marriage, finding the Daily Double under $800
The Seventh Seal. Salvation, though she's now in third
after Alex announces a change in scoring. Still, this
$3000 clue will put her into second: the seventh month
of the calendar in first-Century Rome. "What is July?"
Nope, September, as she drops to $2000. The second Daily
Double goes unclaimed, as it's Jeff's game to lose with
$15,000. Diane is trailing with $3600 to Susan's $5700.
Final Jeopardy! in
"Women in Politics": elected in 1916, she was
the subject of a 1995 biography called "Bright Star in
the Big Sky". Correct query: Who was Jenette Rankin?
The history teacher
makes some history of his own, winning $18,000 today.
Diane leaves with $20,400. |

Well, if we stuck around to
see a few friends we made in line that fateful August
night, this is what we would've seen. It's the late
taping of GSC Day at TPIR. And this is what went down.
We start off with a pool
table, as it goes to Barbara Reynolds, as she goes for
one... two... THREE new cars! She tries to convert the
Triple Play for a PT Cruiser, a Jeep, and a new
convertible. She gets the PT Cruiser... She gets...
hosed on the Jeep. Aww...
Round 2 goes to McKaye
Ruehl, as does a rocker and a chance at $10,000. Time
for the Grand Game. Target: $4. Products: Aspercreme,
Baker's Joy spray, David sunflower seeds, Finazzle soap
scum remover, Fiji water, and Airborne. McKaye goes with
the seeds at $1.09. $10! Water is next at $1.59. $100!
Baking spray, $2.69. $1000! McKaye is going for it with
the Finazzle.... $5.99. D'oh! Should've gone with the
Aspercreme.
Matthew Tortora gets an
ocean kayak in round 3 and a chance to go to Belgium if
he can FLIP to $7594, FLOP to $5749, or FLIP FLOP to
$7549. He'll flop... and he should've Flip Flopped. The
disappointment continues as McKaye only manages $1000 in
the Showcase Showdown.
Now, remember thst story
with the few friends we made in line? One of them is on
stage in round 4! Jacob Greenman, who played some logic
puzzles with us, wins a bike in round 4. Now he goes for
the bonus prize of a hot tub in the Bonus Game. After
winning a frame set and a joke teller, he's got a 50/50
chance at the tub... And he doesn't get it.
Marvin de Meester gets a
silver tea service in round 5. But can he win a wall
clock? Or maybe a new Ford Focus? The game is Any
Number, and the numbers he picks get him.... the Ford
Focus! Marvin has snapped the skid!
A washer/dryer is aboard
the TPIR tug for the last IUFB, and it goes to Melissa
Miles. The washer/dryer, not the tug. Now she plays 1
Right Price for a cross-trainer and a daybed with
mattress. The 1 Right Price: $2599. And after running to
both prizes, she goes with the cross-trainer... and
she's right! But it was for naught as Jacob takes the
second spot in the Showcase.
First Showcase has
something for every room in the house! For the living
room, a plasma HDTV. For the family room, a classic
guitar. For the office, a Dell PC. For the game room, a
bar set. Top winner McKaye passes to Jacob, who bids
$11,275. McKaye, meanwhile, gets how the rich keep
looking rich, with $1000, a trip to Monte Carlo, and a
Lincoln Town Car. She bids $21,500, a difference of over
$31,000. Actual price of Jacob's Showcase: $21,156!
Jacob's your big winner with $22,016.
PS: if Jacob or Janessa
from yesterday is watching, drop us a line! We'd love to
hear from you. |

Chris
(25; San Diego; singer/songwriter); musical
influences include the Beatles & the Rolling Stones |
|
Brett
(21; Wausau, WI; guitarist); likes Goo Goo Dolls...
hates reality TV |
|
Sepideh Haftgoli (24;
Hollywood, CA; model); recently graduated law
school... wait a second... I've heard this song and
dance before... |
If you've seen Sepideh
before, then you must've survived the whole of GSN's
Celebrity Lingo week, as Sepideh was partnered with
Spenny Rice on the Friday show. Check out how she did
here. Her non-five letter
words for a trip to Puerto Vallarta and maybe a little
sumthin-sumthin: Sepideh, law, Hollywood, bugs (she
doesn't like to see one killed).
Eight hours later, Chris and Ryan
duel guitars, while Brett rocks out on his own. Chris starts with
the closest thing you'll get to hardcore punk on this show with "I
Will Find A Way". I won't lie. It sucked. "It was great." This is
the person who lost to Kenny...
Switching to "Journey To My Love"
from Brett. This one's closer to the kind of rock you use to get
college chicks. "This is going to be really really hard!"
Okay, decision time. Sepideh
chose... Spenny! Just kidding. She chose Brett! |

In the last episode, Jason
Drucker (New York, NY) reached $1,000, but had to ask
the audience on an early question. That's usually not a
good omen, but can he do better today?
Though he's hoping to use what he wins to move out of
his grandparents' place, Jason did bring his mother with
him. And she claims to be more nervous than him, even
though he's the one in the hot seat. We'll see about
that, as the game resumes with this $2,000 question...
A popular challenge for long-distance swimmers, the
English Channel is a branch of what body of water?
A: Arctic Ocean
B: Baltic Sea
C: Atlantic Ocean
D: Mediterranean Sea
Jason decides to use the 50:50, and with that, C and D
remain. He goes with C... and he's right! Another
question later, and this one pops up for $8,000...
The 2005 movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
reveals that Willy Wonka's father had what job?
A: Dentist
B: Dietitian
C: Gym teacher
D: Vegetable farmer
Jason didn't get to see this version of the movie, so he
calls his friend, Dan. Now, for some reason, Dan
requested the spelling of "Willy". (And Jason says he's
his smartest friend. Yeah.) Jason obliged, of course.
Then, just before time runs out, Dan says, "I don't got
it." Ouch. Well, it's not stopping him from going for
it; he's gonna gamble. And after a bit of reasoning,
Jason locks in A as his final answer... and the gamble
pays off! It's A! Then, for the $16,000 question, which
asks what mogul gets 4,000,000 e-mails a year, most of
it spam, according to his company's CEO, Steve Ballmer,
Jason gambles yet again. He goes with Steve Jobs... but
it's Bill Gates! It doesn't work out this time, but he
does head home with $1,000.
John Schmidt (Glenview, IL) is the next player, and he's
been waiting for this chance for a long time. His
co-workers threw a "pre-Millionaire" party for him, but
during this party, he was asked questions from the
"Millionaire" board game. On a million-dollar question
that he was stumped on, a 12-year-old son of one of the
co-workers knew it immediately. But that 12-year-old
ain't in the hot seat here, is he? Anyway, John begins
by knowing that "32 Terrific Teeth" is the name of a
permanent exhibit featured in Baltimore's National
Museum of Dentistry (I'd imagine that a museum of stolen
body parts wouldn't last too long). He moves along quite
well, and he is on a roll as he gets to this question
for $4,000...
On May 24, 1844, "What hath God wrought" became the
first words transmitted using what form of
communication?
A: Radio
B: Phonograph
C: Telephone
D: Telegraph
At this point, John uses a process of elimination,
deducing that 3 of those would not have existed yet in
1844. With that, he goes with D... and he's right!
Moving on to $8,000...
The 2005 TV series "Being Bobby Brown" revealed that
Bobby Brown uses what unusual product to reduce eye
puffiness?
A: Preparation H
B: Tinactin
C: Ex-Lax
D: Bengay
[My first thought upon seeing this question: EWWWWWW!
And no, I didn't see that show.]
This time, John asks the audience. An astounding 89% of
the studio audience picks A, and so does 38% of the AIM
users. So, John goes with A... and is right! (I don't
know about you, but I wouldn't let that stuff get
anywhere near my face, let alone my eyes.) He then also
gets the next one, which asks what president the U.S.
Interstate System is named after thanks to a bill signed
by George H.W. Bush in 1990 (Dwight Eisenhower), to
reach $16,000.
That's all for now. John will attempt to climb higher up
the proverbial ladder next time, in the hopes of
eventually becoming a millionaire. |
