Craig
(Christina, Emerald, Rachelle, Ryeisha, Shavonne) |
|
Killinger
(Kirk, Jennifer, Dawn, Lesley, Diane); $21,960,
four days |
The Killingers try to
make it five, while the Craigs try to stop 'em. Round 1:
the first thing a millionaire might sell if they went
broke (6). Kirk gets the number one with house. The
family follows suit with the car, the stocks, the boat,
the jewelry, and the business for the 94-point sweep.
Round 2: an animal that
starts with "T" (6). Emerald is platinum with tiger,
number one, but the Craigs elect to pass. Good strategy,
as they get the steal with turkey. Craigs now on the
board with 60. Other answers: turtle/tortoise, toad,
tomcat, tarantula.
Double Round: a place
where you try to fall asleep but somebody usually talks
your ear off (5). Dawn gets #2, an airplane. Diane gets
#1, at home. Jennifer gets a train, #3, but the Craigs
get a bus for #4 and the 166, giving them 226. Other
answer: hospital.
Triple Round: something
about their mothers that kids brag about (4). Lesley
gets their beauty, #2. Diane gets #1, cooking. Dawn gets
#4, their occupation... but guess who gets #3, "They're
cool"... The Craigs, and they're your new champs,
466-94. The Killingers leave with $21,960.
Emerald and Rachelle
take on the Fast Money board for the first time. Emerald
scores #1 for an animal that eats a lot of food (an
elephant) and a gooseegg for a prestigious award for an
actor (a Grammy?). She gets 111. Rachelle gets the
number one from something people drink in the summertime
(lemonade), a room in your home that is hard to keep
clean (bathroom), and the actor's award (Oscar), giving
them the $20,000 EASY.

Mark Barrett (assistant
teacher from San Francisco); $16,000 |
|
Will Hester
(teacher from Houston) |
|
Elizabeth Randisi
(attorney from Webster, NY) |
You can't see this,
because this is a text, but Will has ears for days.
Could that be an advantage? The bald Mark starts with $200
The Political Hair Apparent, finding the Daily Double
way early under $600 World Literature. He bets the max
of $1000 on the character who found buried treasure on
the Tuscan archipelago. "Who is Jim Hawkins?" Nope, it
was the Count of Monte Cristo, leaving Mark $400 in the
red. At the end of the
Jeopardy! round, Mark jumps in on the final clue to tie
Will with $4800, leaving Elizabeth and her $1200 to start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 "Com".
Dipping down a bit, Will finds the first Daily Double
under $1200 Scientists. With $3200, he goes all in. The
clue: it took a Russian, Lomonosov, to first record the
freezing of this metallic element, at about -40. "What
is Mercury?" He doubles up to $6400. With less than a
minute in regulation, Elizabeth finds the second Daily
Double under $2000 Flags. She tries to secure the lead
by herself with a $2500 bet on a white flag enlisted by
Emperor Kojong. "What is Korea?" Correct for $11,700.
After a short trip to Ontario, she leads it at $12,900
to Mark's $11,600. Will is not too far behind with
$9200.
Final Jeopardy! in
"The Nobel Prizes": for the first time in it
history, the Nobel Prize for literature was not awarded
in this year. Correct response: What was 1914?
Looks like we'll have a
new champ as Mark loses more than half of his stash on
1941, putting Will, who also lost, ahead. Elizabeth also
gets it wrong, so wagering is important... She leaves
enough to return Monday with $6900! |

Lingo by
Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 7p ET/6p CT on GSN
Host: Chuck Woolery |

And we end on a competitive note with
Kenny vs. Spenny Lingo... Yay.
|
Bridgetta Tomarchio
(model) & Kenny Hotz (actually wishes
he was Bridgetta) |
|
Spencer "Spenny" Rice ("the
idiot") & Sepideh Haftgoli (recent law
school graduate) |
Hopefully the two from
Canada have been brushing up on their five-letter words.
Bridgetta & Kenny get ADULT, but Spenny & Sepideh steal
GEEKS. Karma comes back around as Sepideh draws red.
Kenny gets the one-off on ZEBRA. Bridgetta follows with
WEIGH and the Lingo, giving them 125-25. "Easier than I
thought, this game." Bridgetta & Kenny steal ABOUT. And
Kenny can join us any time... but not like that. He
draws a stopper. Spenny & Sepideh steal BURST. Round
ends with the Yellows up, 175-50.
I don't even know if Kenny vs.
Spenny airs on GSN anymore. Round two is all about Bridgetta &
Kenny score MAPLE (albeit attributed to Kenny's Canadian-ness), a
Lingo, OLDER, and that's time. Bridgetta & Kenny win, 375-50. At
least the donuts don't get served this episode.
With three letters in
Bonus Lingo (so this doesn't count as a celeb game),
Bridgetta & Kenny get RIVAL and JOKES for only two. That's worth $200 and
two balls. A 19 will
get them $10,000. Bridgetta wins the draw and got... 61.
Can Kenny pull it off? He says... "19." Only the ball is
63. So the two end up with $200. |

... Hey, is that Todd
Newton in the house? Sweet! You think he's doing some
studying from the master?
Seems like Gertrude
Howard is studying Todd, but she takes time to study a
chandelier to get up on stage. She's got a chance to win
$16 large in It's In the Bag... She says "My daughters
are in the audience. They're going to to help me win
your money." No they aren't. Unfortunately, she skunks
out at the $8000 level. If she only had a lifeline....
Okay, bad joke, moving on.
She faces Damien Lee in
the Showcase. He won his way up on stage in round 6
thanks to a watch and bracelet combo. He's got a chance
to win a Ford Escape. The game: That's Too Much! Titular
objective, according to Damien: $20,155. That's.... one
off. Should've gone on to $22,560, as the car was
$21,290.
Showcase time. First up:
"Price Confidential". Our detective solves the case of
the loved one... or at least tries to, anyway... with a
new computer, a CD jukebox, $2000, and a sailboat...
named "A Loved One." Damien passes it on, as Gertrude
bids $20,000. Damien gets kitchen appliances, a new
dining room with dinnerware, and a hot tub. He bids
$15,350. ARP: $17,624, a difference of $2274. Gertrude's
difference... $8814. Damien wins the day with $19,934.
Other winners:
Jo-Ellen Harrison: elliptical crosstrainer; trips to
Atlanta, Anchorage & Aspen winning Most Expensive
Beau Barney: three bikes and a trike; TV/entertainment
center winning Double Prices
Robert Tullock: train set; clock radio/calculator,
cleaning products, beard/moustache trimmer playing
Spelling Bee
Marco Wells: snowboard equipment
Final stats: 2/6,

Rosa looks like she needs
to go back to bed, as Guillermo picks this woman who is
wearing a bathrobe and curlers. Rosa is given a jar of
rice...with something attached to it. She can keep the
rice, or go for the curtain, which has something
Imported. Whatever she doesn't want (which in this case,
is the rice) goes to Hernando. Rosa gets a TV and
gaming/stereo system (imported from Japan) worth $1,280.
Rosa can go back to bed, but now it's Hernando's the
bullfighter's turn. He can keep the rice or go for
Curtain #3, and whatever's behind there is American.
Whatever he doesn't want, Yolanda the gypsy woman gets.
Hermando goes for the curtain, and gets a beautiful
living room set worth $2,481! Nice. Now it's Yolanda's
turn, and this time, whatever's behind curtain #2 moves.
She sticks with the rice and she gives up...a Chasco
Wheelchair, complete with dummy sitting in it and
attendee running after it. So that's a good choice - but
Guillermo offers her $500 to not keep the rice. She
takes the $500. Inside the race today was...a Chasco
sign. All three people did very well in this opening
deal. Guillermo
has a pair of Derman's for our next contestant,
Indalesia, who is dressed up in a toothpaste bottle. She
selects Derman #1, but in Derman #2 was $600. Now she
can keep Derman #1, or she can bail out for the small
box. She keeps the Derman and turns down a Piggy Bank
that looks like a chicken that's wearing googly-eyed
glasses for a Chasco. In Derman #1 for her - $600
anyways! She couldn't lose, as long as she kept the
Derman - which she did. A perfect show so far...
The farmer Marcelo and
his wife Dina are next up, and they have a small box.
Marcelo can keep it or trade for the big box. He wants
the small one and gives up a washer/dryer worth $818.
Now Dina has the small box - which she can keep - or she
can trade it for Curtain #2. She also keeps the small
box and she turns down a refrigerator worth $1,199. For
the final decision, they will make it as a couple - keep
the box or trade it for Curtain #3. They decide to keep
the box for the whole way. Behind Curtain #3...that same
piggy bank, this time modeled by the dummy in the wheel
chair from earlier for a Chasco! The couple end with a
pair of watches worth $800, which is a nice way to
finish the segment.
But who wants over
$5,000 to finish the show? Hermando will not, as he does
not gives up over $2,400 worth of goodies. Rosa decides
to go for it, as does Marcelo and Dina. Rosa wants Door
#3, while the couple want Door #2. We start with...Door
#3, where Rosa awaits $750. Will the couple win the Gran
Trato? No they won't , but they will win a trip to
Santiago, a $600 certificate for gas and a set of
luggage for a total of $2,060. The big goodies were
behind door #1, and today's goodies were carpeting and a
new kitchen (featuring a stove, dining room table and
china and an armoire) worth $5,053. That was nice, but
no one gets it. We'll see if anyone gets it on Monday. |

board with TURKEY MEAT LOAF for $2,600, which is what
she leaves with. Mark leaves with $8,600. Natasha is
going to the Turks and Caicos with a total of $12,200!
Can Natasha win a car or cash to help end "Wheel
Watcher's Club" week with a bang? She lands on the U in
BONUS. Her category tonight is PHRASE. With the normal 6
and her choices of DMPA we have:
_ _ N _ _ -
D _ R _
This was tough. But she wasn't HUNKY-DORY, and didn't
solve the puzzle. She lost another $25,000. But she
leaves with $12,200 in cash and trip. Next week, "Safari
So Good" Week! |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by
Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
It's Friday. There's a new
contestant in the hot seat. Let's get going.
That contestant is Margaret Harrison (San Diego, CA),
and her nervousness has nothing to do with the game;
it's her first time away from her 5-month-old daughter,
who is back at home with her dad. In the hopes of
eventually winning a million dollars for her family, she
starts by saying that boxing is a sport where male
athletes usually compete without wearing a shirt. Other
questions during the run ask what organ an
echocardiograph is used to produce an image of using
sound waves (heart), and what "slash and burn", a
destructive method of clearing land, is most often used
to prepare land for (farming). She then reaches this
$16,000 question...
In 2005, what actress became the first celebrity to win
a tournament at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas?
A: Allison Janney
B: Mimi Rogers
C: Jennifer Tilly
D: Mena Suvari
Margaret decides to call her friend Charles, who says
that he's 99% sure it's B, and saying that Mimi is the
only one he's aware of that plays poker. Margaret does
trust him, but as a safety precaution, she uses the
50:50. Guess what? B is gone, and so is D. Only A and C
remain. So much for Charles' help. Well, she's still not
sure, so she asks the audience. The studio audience
shows a 70%-30% split, and the AIM poll shows a 62%-38%
split, both favouring C. So, after having to use all 3
lifelines, Margaret goes with C... and is right! She
won't go any farther, though, because she doesn't know
that in the night sky, the constellation Orion appears
to be fighting the constellation Taurus. So Margaret
walks at that point, and takes home $16,000.
Up next is Marna Anderson (Minneapolis, MN). She is a
flight attendant, but sometimes, she loses track of
where she is. Can she keep track here and win a lot of
money? She begins by knowing that in the kids' game
"tag", the one trying to tag others is called "It"
(seems rather harsh to call a kid a loser). Marna gets
on a roll after that, correctly answering, among other
things, that the character "Mallard Fillmore" from its
self-titled comic strip is a duck. Soon enough, this
shows up for $4,000...
In January 2005, what country announced that its
population had officially hit 1.3 billion people?
A: Russia
B: Brazil
C: China
D: India
Marna uses the 50:50, and it leaves A and C (again). It
seems to be enough help, as she says C... and it's C! On
to $8,000...
What 2005 comedy features the cheesy pick-up line "I
think we only use 10% of our hearts"?
A: Wedding Crashers
B: Fever Pitch
C: Hitch
D: The 40-Year-Old Virgin
Marna isn't sure enough, so she asks the audience. 77%
of the studio audience and 60% of the AIM users say A.
Good thing, since she was leaning towards C. But she
goes with the audience and says A... and the audience is
right!
And that caps off another week of Millionaire. Marna
will return on Monday with $8,000 and the Phone-A-Friend
lifeline still available. |
