"The Episode With Patriot
Mariners in the USA" - April 26
We've got two sets of
bat-crackers against a set of pass-batters. Two sets of
men versus a set of ladies... Two sets of
American-themed teams and one set of... well, Mariners.
It's time to play "Teammates."
Today's set of
teammates:
Willie McGinest & Troy Brown; the New England
Patriots. One is third in career sacks, the other is a
"60-minute man".
Joel Pineiro & Randy Winn; the Seattle Mariners.
They found their way from the Sunshine State to Seattle.
Jennie Finch & Natasha Watley; Team USA softball.
One's got hot hands. The other, a hot bat. Both brought
back gold from Greece.
Round 1: One on One
First up, Troy, Natasha,
and Randy are sent to the ESPN locker room, while their
partners do the Nicholson-Muir thing. You know, ask
questions, match answers and what not. Matches are worth
15, and team with the most
points at the end wins $30,000.
Question 1: Your
teammate likes to do what when nobody's watching?
Willie: "Lay around in his underwear".
Jennie: Dance.
Joel: Dance. Can he dance? "No."
Question 2: What will
your teammate say is your most unusual hidden talent?
Jennie: Singing.
Joel: Drawing.
Willie: Dancing.
Question 3: Who does
your teammate fear the most; his/her coach/manager,
his/her mother; or his/her spouse/other?
Joel: Spouse.
Willie: Mother.
Jennie: Coach.
The teammates are back.
And it's time for that whole Nicholson-Muir thing we
alluded to earlier.
Question 1:
Troy: Dance.
Natasha: Sleep. She dances in her sleep.
Randy: Play Playstation. Hell, I do that with EVERYONE
watching.
Question 2:
Natasha: Singing.
Randy: Singing.
Troy: Dancing. MATCH for 15! And a dance for free!
Question 3:
Randy: "My wife." MATCH!
Troy: "My wife." Nope.
Natasha: "My mom."
After round 1, the Pats
and the M's are tied with 15, while the sexy ladies of
Team USA... are very sexy indeed. They have zero.
Question 1: When it
comes to money, who will your teammate say is cheaper?
Troy: Me. "He's a California guy, I'm a country boy."
Natasha: Me.
Randy: Joel.
Question 2: What's the
one thing your teammate cannot travel without on the
road?
Natasha: her makeup.
Randy: his music. "Reggaeton."
Troy: dominoes. "He's a California boy."
Question 3: Will your
teammate say their life is like "Animal House," "The
House of 1000 Corpses", or the "Little House on the
Prairie"?
Randy: Animal House.
Troy: "California answer." Animal House
Natasha: Animal House.
Commercial break, then
it's back to round 2... and back to Willie, Jennie, and
Joel.
Question 1:
Willie: Troy. MATCH.
Jennie: Tasha. MATCH. They got one!
Joel: Joel. MATCH.
Question 2:
Jennie: "My cell phone?" No match. "I got a habit, I
guess."
Joel: "Laptop" No match.
Willie: "I'm always on the phone. I love my iPod." Cell
phone is ... not a match. "I don't travel with'em all
the time."
Question 3:
Joel: "Animal House, because of my baby." MATCH!
Willie: "Animal House." MATCH!
Jennie: "I just got married... Animal." MATCH.
One on One is done and
done, and the Pats and the M's are STILL tied at 45,
with Team USA behind at 30.
Now it's time for the
final round, Two on Who? The teammates must work
together to predict a third teammate's answer. Correct
answers are worth 5 points. It's a timed round of one
minute, and there are 40 points to be earned, so a lot
of ground can be gained in a little time. The scores are
so close right now, it could honestly go to anyone.
First up: Jennie &
Natasha. They need four for the lead. Their teammate:
coach Mike Candrea. They match up on
who he could never tell a secret to (Jennie), what he
sleeps in (shorts/t-shirt), who he could never have a
locker next to (Laura Berg), who should never be
approached after a loss (Jennie), who listens to the
worst music (Crystal Bustos), and most spontaneous
(Jennie). Six right, 30 points, 60 total. They have the
lead so far. Big money, no Whammies, stop.
Next: Joel & Randy.
They need three to tie and four to lead. Their
teammate... pitcher Gil Meche. They match up on what he
sleeps in (shorts/t-shirt), who he could never have a
locker next to (Bret Boone), and who should never be
approached after a loss (Joel). Three right, 15 points,
60 total for the tie.
Finally: Willie & Troy.
They need three to tie and four to win. Their teammate:
safety Rodney Harrison. They match up on
who he could never tell a secret to (Willie), who is
more likely to win the final rose on "The Bachelorette"
(Willie), who should never be approached after a loss
(Willie), and most spontaneous (Willie). Four right, 20
points, 65 total. That is game and match for the
Patriots. And they just win everything, don't they?
Big ups to the Patriots.
Until next week, hugs and handpounds. We out.
