Expectations
April 8

Amazing how now that Rob is gone the beginnings of the Survivor episodes move so much more quickly. The villains are basically starving. Coach and Jerri have a conversation about whether they should stay with Russell or look to make their own move, but they come to no definitive answer. Probably because, again, the villains are starving.

Russell and Coach may be able to deal with the hunger, but sometimes we forget about the most primal of Survival elements. These people still need to take care of basic needs before they can strategize.

Over at the heroes, food does not seem to be as much of an issue, but the immunity clue they received earlier has now weighed on JT's mind. Then again, the clue was pretty specific so it won't be weighing on his mind for long. JT heads out into the forest and finds the immunity idol rather quickly.

He also finds Amanda coming out to see what he is doing. Busted! JT has the option to lie, but he decides to be honest and tells Amanda that he now has the idol.

Then JT gets busted yet again by Candace. He owns up to her and the rest of the tribe telling them that now as soon as they merge, the idol can be used to protect anyone who needs it.

The heroes buy his yarn for now, but Candace and Amanda begin plotting against JT saying that they find both JT and the whole idol situation to be slimy.

And now it's time for reward! The clue suggests good clean fun, but the villains hear merge in the clue... Hmm... The Survivors will be bowling head-to-head. Whichever player has a better frame scores a point for their team and 3 points win a reward picnic of pizza and beer.

One note of interest. Upon arriving and seeing Rob missing the Heroes publicly made the assumption that there must be a girls' alliance in the Villains tribe. Will this alter game play down the road? We shall see.

The villains have to sit out two members and after much debate, Coach answers that Courtney and Sandra will sit out. The rest of the tribe thinks this is stupid as they think they are not screwed for the immunity challenge, but Coach thinks wining pizza is a must.

(Apparently Domino's has started putting nicotine in the cheese...)

Before the challenge, though, Jeff Probst has an answer to the merge question. "Drop...

"Your...

"...expectations. There is no merge."

Challenge on!

Rd 1. Parvati vs Rupert.

Rupert scores 3, Parvati rolls 2 gutters, Point Heroes.

Rd 2. JT vs. Danielle

JT scores 6, Danielle scores nothing. It's 2-0 heroes

...and the Villains put their Survival in the hands of Russell.

Rd. 3 Russell vs. Colby

Both start out with gutters. Then Russell picks up 5 to Colby's 1. This game continues. 2-1 Heroes.

Rd. 4 Coach vs. Amanda

Coach is hungry and gets 5 on his first rolls, but Amanda matches him with 5 more.

Coach hits 1 in his second rolls for a total of six and now Amanda needs 2 to win.

Amanda gets exactly that. 2 for a total of 7.

Heroes win reward!

And the villains get to go back and rebuild their shelter. Wop wop.

Back at camp Jerri is mad. she knew there was no merge and can't agree for one second with Coach's decision to sit out Sandra and Courtney. She's convinced they are screwed for immunity.

Sandra hears this the wrong way and thinks Jerri is picking on her and Courtney, but Jerri and Danielle quash that. With a shouting match. Well, at least it's good for the camera even if it isn't good for our ears.

So, apparently the Villains are confident they will lose immunity. With such a great attitude, let's fast forward to the immunity challenge!

The survivors will be tethered at the hip in teams of 2, and in each heat will run through a mud course navigating their way over and under obstacles to reach a flag. They then will have to return that flag to start to score a point. First tribe to win 2 heats wins immunity.

There will be one heat run as singles and the Villains choose to sit Jerri and Danielle.

Heat 1:

Russell and Sandra vs Amanda and Candace

Do I really need to tell you what happens? Amanda, Candace and Russell run the course well. Sandra struggles. Russell is tethered to Sandra so Heat over Villains. Heroes lead 1-0

Heat 2:

Coach vs. Rupert

Best race of the night. They are even when they reach the end of the course to grab the flag and on the way back Rupert takes the lead. Unfortunately Rupert runs out of gas as Coach sprints through the end of the mud to tie up the challenge.

Heat 3:

Parvati and Courtney vs. JT and Colby

Again, do I need to tell you what happens? Jerri gets proven right. Oh, and Courtney sprains her ankle. Special. Heroes win immunity!

So now we can get into the Survivor scramble.

Sandra has already been working her magic trying to protect herself and Courtney. She figures that if she tells Russell that Coach is gunning for him that Russell will flip and try to get rid of Coach.

And to that note, Sandra is initially right. Russell takes this information to Parvati who is completely on board. With Jerri kept in the dark, the only person opposed to this strategy is Danielle who is sick of losing and can't rationalize keeping Courtney over Coach.

Coach, meanwhile, is doing yoga and warrior positions saying that he feels stronger than ever.

At what is edited as the last minute, Russell seems to change his mind and lets Parvati and Danielle know that he now agrees with Danielle and thinks that getting rid of Courtney is a better move. Hmm... Let's see how the puppets vote.

At tribal Jeff points out the Tyson left and they lost and then Rob left and they lost. He asks if there are any plans to change this pattern and answers seem to say a resounding no. Courtney is spunky and defends her position, but it doesn't look like anyone is reaching out to help her. It's time to vote.

And by a vote of 4-3, Coach the tribe has spoken?!? And Coach is now the first member of the Jury.

Wow! Russell isn't going to be happy next week (unless this is more crazy engineering to perpetuate the idea of a girls alliance)

Votes for Coach:
Danielle
Parvati
Sandra
Courtney

Votes for Courtney:
Coach
Jerri
Russell

Could this be the beginning of a girl's alliance and the beginning of the end for Russell? Who knows, but the promo for next week is alluding to an epically dumb move, so it will continue to be entertaining. See you next week.
