They were the smartest...
fiercest... most competitive... most talked about class
of Tournament of Champions in Jeopardy! history. Last
week, they all played for a spot in this week's
semifinal. This week, it's win-or-go-home as they all
play for three spots in the two-day finale. At stake, $250,000, bragging rights, and the title of
Jeopardy! super champion, a title that comes with it
quiz immortality.
Second runner up gets $100,000. Third place gets $50,000. Semifinalists are guaranteed $10,000. As always, any money won depends on how high up the ladder a player goes. The winner of this match gets Julia Collins and Arthur Chu.
Ben has the honor, and will start the Jeopardy! round...
Daily Double: $800 Literary Characters. Ben has $1800, $1000 on both of his opponents. He goes all-in on this: this Kipling character first appeared as an adult in the story "In the Rukh", then as a boy in "The Jungle Book". "Who is Mowgli?" FOR THE DOUBLER, $3600! At the end of Jeopardy!...
Double Jeopardy! round...
Daily Double #1: $1600 Classical Radio. Ben has $11,400. He bets $4000 on this: these call letters of a Boston PBS TV station first hit the airwaves with a 1951 classical radio concert. "What are WGBH?" That... is RIGHT for $15,400! Daily Double #2: $1200 A Massive Aggressive Attitude. And speaking of which, Ben has $18,200, betting $2000 on this: in 1968 fighting was fierce in Hue during this event called the turning point of the Vietnam War. "What is the Tet Offensive?" Right for $20,200. At the end of Double Jeopardy!...

Ben has one distinct advantage over his two opponents in that he locked the game away early, making Final Jeopardy! a non-decision. That may get him to the $250,000, but he's going to have a hell of a hill to climb, because he's facing THESE two... Finalists....
