November 15
The newest in Jeopardy!'s line of great challenges is coming around again, with fifteen of America's greatest teachers being honored by coming to play the great American quiz show of record. At stake, $100,000 and a shot at $250,000 later on in the next Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.

What challenges await these educators? How will they rise to meet them? The answers to these questions could be worth $100,000 for the winner, $50,000 for the first runner-up, and $25,000 for the second runner-up. Semifinalists are guaranteed $10,000, while everyone who competes gets $5000 and a copy of "Classroom Jeopardy!". Any and all prizes depend on how far up a player moved in the standings.

So far, we have sox. In 30 minutes, we'll have nine.

Daily Double #1: $1600 Diseases. Michael has been in the lead with $11,600. He bets $1600 on this: CFTR, the defective gene responsible for transmitting this metabolic disease, lies in the middle of chromosome 7. "I... do not know." It was cystic fibrosis, leaving him with $10,000.

Daily Double #2: $2000 Raid! It is the last clue on the board, and Cathy has it. She has $8400, half of Michael's total. She wagers $2000 on this: in February 1942 he wrote that the purpose of his upcoming raid was "to bomb and fire the industrial center of Japan". "Who is Macarthy?" No, it was Jimmy Doolittle, and at the end of the round, Cathy has played herself out of further contention.
