Week 5: Imported!
April 18

It's no wonder why British shows are being imported to the US. Whose Line, Doctor Who, All In the Family and now...DWTS. It's America Week, and we salute the red, white & blue. From the Dirty South to the Pacific Northwest, DWTS is on the move, and we're moving!

First, Ralph & Karina doing a samba to "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynrd. Both did some arm work after they did a samba roll...finally, one I can actually see. Later, Ralph did a roping gesture and Karina tried for a floor spin, but was too scared to try it out. However, the judges aren't scared of that. Carrie Ann said it was a great entertaining performance, Len said one week he's there, the next it's not working and Bruno said it needs fire down below. Let's fire up the numberboard....

CARRIE: 8 LEN: 7 BRUNO: 7 Total Score: 22
Off to a good start!

Next up, Chris & Cheryl dance a Viennese waltz to "America The Beautiful." Cheryl did a foot drag by mid-point and both did some arm work. Everything else was bright. Now we shed light on the judges. Carrie Ann said he is a contender, Len said it's so nice Cheryl is showing the rocky mountains....okay and Bruno said it was big yet graceful. Can they take the lead in a big way?

CARRIE: 9 LEN: 8 BRUNO: 9 Total Score: 26
And they take the lead!

Next is Petra & Dmitry doing a quickstep to "Viva Via..." er, "Viva Las Vegas" by Elvis Presley. Dmitry was on the craps table by himself and Petra came to the floor with a feather boa which was thrown away. By the end, they hit the jackpot! Way to go! Let's see if the judges follow a pattern. Carrie Ann said it had a few stumbles in her choreography, Len said she coped very well, and Bruno said it was very difficult & fast. Now the scores in a flash...

CARRIE: 7 LEN: 7 BRUNO: 8 Total Score: 22
They tie for the runner-up spot.

Romeo & Chelsie will now foxtrot to "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra. Romeo had to prove himself and did with this nice routine. He even used a tux & top hat for consideration. Now the judges. Carrie Ann said it was so cool & sophisticated, Len said he is n the right road and Bruno said he's never seena foxtrot so cheeky. And the numbers say...

CARRIE: 9 LEN: 8 BRUNO: 9 Total Score: 26
A tie for way up top!

4 down, 4 to go. Hines & Kym rumba to "God Bless The USA" by Lee Greenwood. Kym did a back foot slide and did a couple of side circle kicks. She even did a circle spin on the floor and that was it. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was very romantic, Len said it's his best dance so far and Bruno called it an officer & a gentleman. The calculator and the addition....

CARRIE: 9 LEN: 9 BRUNO: 9 Total Score: 27
And they lead by just one point!

3 remain. Kirstie & Maks foxtrot to "American Woman" by Lenny Kravitz. They include in this rouine: A shirtless Maks with an American flag tat. That's tattoo for you youngsters reading, a blue dress Kirstie wore and...sparks left over from classical week. Nice. Here's what the judges said. Carrie Ann said it was bold, Len said it had attitude, and Bruno said the cold war is over. Fire the scoring projectiles!

CARRIE: 8 LEN: 7 BRUNO: 8 Total Score: 23
And they gain a spot in 3rd place.

Kendra & Louis rock out to "Yankee Doodle Dandy." And in case you didn't know, its dance #1000 of the series. The first: Joey McIntyre & Ashly Delgrosso doing cha-cha. Back to the routine. Mid-point came and both threw their hats away. everything else was patriotic for a historic dance. The judges will make more history. Carrie Ann said it was the most patriotic dance of the night, Len said it was much better than last week and Bruno said she has to be in it. And the check of the scores goes like this...

CARRIE: 8 LEN: 7 BRUNO: 7 Total Score: 22
It's now a 3-way tie for 4th!

Dance #1001: The last one for tonight. It's Chelsea & Mark doing a samba to "Party In The USA" by Miley Cyrus. Mark cleaned up an old gas tank and spanked her on the bum with a towel. That isn't right. Anyways, he was toying around with a towel and threw it out. The energy was all there throughout the routine. The judges say...Carrie Ann said they dance so well together, Len said Yum, Yum what a bum...alright and Bruno said it ws the excitement of America and the sizzle of Brazil. Now the numbers from a math class...

CARRIE: 9 LEN: 8 BRUNO: 9 Total Score: 26
It's a 3-way tie for 2nd!

America loved what a night it had. The final tally: Hines with 27, trip 26s go to Chelsea, Romeo and Chris, Kirstie with 23, and 22s go to Kendra, Petra & Ralph. It was all American fun, but there would be no fun for 1 couple who'll be gone. We'll see how the results show goes tomorrow. Bye folks!
