Last time, there was a pig, a cheater, a cold shower, and a smart-off, and when the dust settles, Lisa proved that she wasn't smart enough for Mary Alice or Ben to play on. Now eight models remain.

Needless to say, Blonde Rachel, having barely survived, was put on notice about partnering up with someone who is smart. That person... Daniel. "I may not be the best partner for Daniel, but Daniel IS the best partner for me."

Andre, meanwhile, puts another name on his shrine.

Note of the day: "Designers often refer to their clothes by using words like 'lines' and 'shapes'. Divide yourselves into teams of two and meet me outside. Be there or be square."

The teams:
Angela & Andre
Brett & Pickel (what else is new?)
VJ & Aussie Rachael
Blonde Rachel & Daniel. "I need Daniel to save my ass today."

Daniel's not going to win by picking the best person. Everyone says, "Bad news, buddy. You can't pair up with the weakest link."

The crew heads to CSULA, where Ben explains that his least-favorite subject in high school was geometry.

Edge Challenge: The Cut

Teams are to make fashions using only six geometric shapes: a rhombus, a trapezoid, a pentagon, a circle, an isosceles triangle, and a rectangle. They have to work three at a time, that is one person must cut out three shapes before the other can begin.

Here to help judge is designer Santino Rice from season 2 of "Project Runway". (Pickel: "He makes killer (^_^).") Ben has to wonder: if you can't do this, then what can you do? The winning team will get the edge of Santino's help for 30 minutes in the Callback Challenge.

Andre's used to working in metrics.

Santino: "Watching someone of these models work made my brain hurt. Thank God they're good looking."

Andre is stuck on the circle. Angela tells Andre how to work the circle... and VJ heard it, using it.

And Blonde Rachel.. doesn't know how to do anything short of ... well, being horizontal.

Brett and Pickel are like gangbusters, meanwhile. VJ and Aussie Rachael are done... well, not quite. One of these shapes is mess.

Pickel and Brett are done... and Santino passes 'em! They win the edge with Santino and all six shapes. And Daniel, as usual, has an excuse ready. He didn't understand the premise of the challenge.

Okay, what's not to understand about "one takes three, then the other takes three"? Now they have no shapes to design anything.

And there's one more twist. As the winners, Brett & Pickel must decide three shapes to give to one team, two to another, and one to the third.

VJ & Aussie Rachel: CIRCLE
Daniel & Blonde Rachael: PENTAGON, TRAPEZOID, RHOMBUS
Angela & Andre: TRIANGLE, RECTANGLE

Each team will also have two student assistants and enough fabric. So from that, we go right to...

Callback Challenge: The "VO5 Build Your Own Style Fashion Show"

Each team is given three hours to design their wares. They will not see them again until the next night's runway show.

Angela's mom designs clothes. She figures that that will give them the edge. Andre, annoyed about hearing such things, decides to give her her moment and enough rope to hang herself with.

Brett & Pickel are thankful for Santino's help, because neither of them know JACK about sewing.

Rachel is confident that she would not wear any other clothes but her own.

Aaaaaand that's time.

The guys all agree that Daniel was a sore loser. "'Guys! That ain't fair!' Guess what, dude? Life ain't fair." Andre, to that effect, goes looking for Daniel and Rachel's tags to put on his wall prematurely.

The next day, it's showtime. Show. Time. With Erin Anderson from... some hair company's styling regiment. She will apply "finishing touches" to their vision.

Andre to a stylist: "You make her really really ugly, I'll give you $100."
Stylist: "NO!"
Andre: "$200!"
Stylist: "$1000."
Andre to Angela: "Want to go half and half?"

Angela is convinced that she has the total package.

It's showtime. Judging is Marilyn Heston, owner of MHA Media, the celebrity fashion PR house in LA.

The final part of the challenge: as one person models, the other comments. The team that wins the challenge gets a callback for the next show.

First up, Rachael and VJ. If you remember, they have the circle. Blonde Rachel thought it looked like a mermaid wrapped in the kitchen floor.

Next is Daniel and Blonde Rachel. They had three shapes, the pentagon, the rhombus, and and the trapezoid. Mary Alice asks her what three shapes were used: "The rhombus... the trapezoid... and the quadri..." You know what, I could go on about what I think of her... and what the other models think of her... but let's just give it to Mary Alice.

Actually, hold off on that. Let's finish it out now. Going to Andre & Angela. Andre calls it an outfit that could be worn anywhere. With the sides cut out... we beg to differ.

Finally, we go to Brett & Pickel show off raw, urban edginess with a robe and... a skirt.

Now the judges. He didn't get Angela's outfit, thinking it can't be worn anywhere. "I see it more as a 'Dancing with the Stars' outfit." VJ & Rachael's outfit was too frivolous. Mary Alice says that VJ should've dressed to match Rachael. Rachel's outfit thought it was far too simple. Daniel wanted to make it practical. Finally, Brett & Pickel get high marks from their guest judge.

Winners... Brett & Pickel.

Can we go to Mary Alice now? Let's go to Mary Alice now.

"Rachel Myers, will you please step down. For the last few episodes you've been barely getting by. VJ carried you through the Puzzle-Me-Pretty shoot. You survived the Brain Binge because Mandy Lynn refused to eat the cake. In the Smart-Off, you were saved by Lisa because she didn't know my last name. And in this challenge, you almost dragged down the smartest person in the house. You couldn't even correctly make one shape. Rachel, you are not model enough, and you're clearly not smart enough to be in this competition any longer, so would you please pack your bag and leave the house now."

Well, no one saw that one coming... except we did, thanks to the VH1 editing department. Everyone feels sorry for her and she still says she makes everyone laugh, but at the same time, this is a competition.

Elimination

So are we eliminating another person? We'll find out. VJ says eliminating Rachel "is what it is."

Brett & Pickel are the house's dynamic duo. They won both challenges today, as they played strategy, giving VJ and Rachael the worst shape and therefore the worst dress. So they get called down.

Daniel is also called down for allowing Rachel to team up with him. That move put him in real jeopardy. Daniel thought it was a good look for her, but he wants to win with his integrity intact. Better step it up. He goes back to the line up.

Mary Alice is surprised that VJ is on the block. He's still there, because he's got huge potential, being savvy, calculating, and a player. He... is safe.

So Rachael is going home... or is she? She's definitely no tough or hungry enough. Mary Alice thinks that it's sweet that they've all become friends, but the real world is much more cutthroat.

So let's hear it from Ben. "Like the 101st Airborne Division at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge... Rachael.... You have AVOIDED annihilation. You are safe."

So Blonde Rachel's ouster has saved the rest of the models this week, but cuts are running deeper and deeper with every week that passes, and they're not going to be pretty, these next cuts, because with $100,000 on the line and a shot at the big time... only one can saddle up and ride. Come back next week, and I promise that there will be drunkenness.
