Vegas Callbacks 2
July 7
Last night, the judges' favorites went
head to head for 38 spots in the top 48. Now the 28 standbys compete for
only 11 spots remaining. And as Nick said: the competition just got
tougher.
DAY 2
First up, the danger group, including
Kung Fu Heroes, the Danger Committee, Jeremy Vanschoonhoven, and Nick
Pike.
Next up are the kid dancers, including
RNG and Northwest Dance & Acro.
Now are the vocal groups, ranging from
R&B to country to Broadway. The largest group in the category: New
Directions. Among the smallest: Ali & Christina, both born with cystic
fibrosis.
Next up, the novelty acts. We have more
painting, more stuff being thrown up into the air, more fire, and
more... judges' Haterade. Ronith could break the skid here, or extend
it. He doesn't do impressions this time, instead going for a 90-second
sketch. And no one's really sure what he's doing. Lesson #1 on AGT: do
not abandon what got your foot in the door.
Bands are next. We have the Strange
Familiar ("Have a Little Faith in Me"), Harmonik ("You Raise Me Up"),
and... a few more acts, including Airpocalypse, whom the other bands
didn't think belonged in that category. After seeing this, I tend to
agree.
Finally, we have the standby male
singers, the most competitive category by far. Who'll be joining Michael
Grimm & Taylor Matthews? Will it be Luigi Seno? Will it be Nate Kenyon?
Time to award the final 11 slots into the
Final 48. And among them are...
- Kung Fu Heroes
- Jeremy Vanschoonhoven
- RNG
- Luigi
- Nate Kenyon
- Ronith
- The Strange Familiar
- Airpocalypse
- Christina & Ali
The lineup is set. The rest is on you,
America. The live rounds begin NEXT WEEK!
