Lorraine watched as a
giant stumbled on his feet yesterday, but can Lorraine
prove that it was no fluke that she's champ?
Lorraine starts with $200
Presidential Monograns. Cory takes the early lead, $2800
to Tara and Lorraine's $1000. Each.
Lorraine makes her way to
the Daily Double under $800 Starts & Ends with "W". She
risks $2000 on this: to lie in the mud for refreshment;
"no time to" do this "in the mire." "What is to wallow?"
Right for $5200, but the lead would be short-lived, as
Cory comes back to go to $6000, leaving Tara at $2200 to
start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Plays within
Plays. Lorraine finds the first Daily Double under $2000
From the Latin. She bets just $1000 on wedge shape
writing from the Latin for "wedge". "Is it cuneiform?"
Technically, that's a question for $8200. Tara finds the
second Daily Double under $1600 American Artists. She
bets $1500 on a 101-year-old artist who died during
JFK's administration. "Who is Kahlo?" Nope, it was
Grandma Moses, leaving Tara with $2300. She ends the
round with $4300, but it's a two-man match with Lorraine
at $15,800 and Cory at $15,200.
Final Jeopardy! in "University
Geogrpahy": around 1830 the first Catholic priest
ordained in the US obtained land in this state where a
university now stands. Correct question: what is
Indiana? Cory's
right... Lorraine isn't. She leaves with $8198, but Cory
will return with $29,200. |

We're getting things started
today with Sharon Jones (Birdsboro, PA). When asked what
she would like to do with the money, she says she wants
to help her 2 kids who don't have their own homes yet.
Isn't that nice? With that, Sharon starts by knowing
that a common way of saying "You were right and I was
wrong" is "I stand corrected". Then, after sweeping the
lower tier...
[$2,000]
What Internet slang term is said to have come from a
Monty Python sketch in which the same word is repeated
over and over?
A: Cookie
B: Spam
C: Blog
D: Emoticon
Sharon decides to ask the audience, and 77% are thinking
B. She trusts them... and they're right!
[$8,000]
Of the six New England states, which is the only one to
share a border with four other New England states?
A: Massachusetts
B: New Hampshire
C: Connecticut
D: Vermont
The 50:50 leaves A and D. Sharon goes with A... and
she's right!
[$25,000]
In physics, the Greek letter lambda is used to represent
which of the following?
A: Acceleration
B: Wavelength
C: Frequency
D: Inertia
All she remembers about that Greek letter is that it's
in the name of a fraternity she has heard of. So, Sharon
calls her sister's brother-in-law, Alan. However, he
doesn't give an answer in time. With that, Sharon walks
with $16,000, before seeing that it was B.
In the hot seat now is Garrett Bowling (Madisonville,
KY). He has 3 kids, but all they wanted from him was for
him to say hi to them on TV. Cute. After he does so,
Garrett starts by knowing that someone who has to keep a
secret is often told that "mum's the word" ("mum's the
queen of England" could really only be said by a certain
few people). He secures $1,000, then after a bit...
[$8,000]
An American cultural movement called the Harlem
Renaissance flourished during what decade?
A: 1890s
B: 1920s
C: 1950s
D: 1970s
Garrett asks the audience, and 54% goes with B. He does,
too... and they're right!
[$16,000]
Named 2006's "Word of the Year" by the American Dialect
Society, "truthiness" was popularized by what late night
talk show host?
A: Stephen Colbert
B: Conan O'Brien
C: Jon Stewart
D: David Letterman
Garrett isn't sure, so he calls Brian, who is 100% sure
that it's A. Garrett trusts him... and it's A!
[$25,000]
The international scientific unit named after Sir Isaac
Newton is used to measure what physical property?
A: Energy
B: Pressure
C: Force
D: Inertia
The 50:50 is used, leaving A and C. Garrett says he was
thinking C, so he goes with that... and he has $25,000!
That's all for today. Garrett will start the upper tier
tomorrow. |
