Dave Singleton
Henderson, NV
academic advisor
$8600 |
John Bowen
Dearborn, MI
archivist |
Rick Walsh
Bedford, NH
attorney |
Dave had to knock out a
heck of a champ to inherit the first podium. How long
can he keep it?
Dave starts with $200 Rock 'n' Roll History. John finds
the Daily Double just prior to the break under $1000
Maiden Names. He doubles the level on Marie Sklodowska.
"What is Curie?" Correct for $7000 to Rick's $1000 and
Dave's $400.
Halfway into the game, and John is owning it, $10,400 to
Dave's $2600. Rick, in the back with $1800, starts
Double Jeopardy!...
with $400 Historical Men & Women. John finds the first Daily Double under
$2000 Food-O. He bets $1600 on the tuna that's Spanish
for pretty. "What is bonito?" Narrowly accepting it for
$13,200. John tries to complete the trifecta with $1600
National Scenic Byways. After Dave rallies, John bets
$2000 on this: once a 900-mile route extending to
Missouri, it's now a 565-mile scenic byway mostly in New
Mexico. "What is Route 66?" Nope, it's the Santa Fe
trail. He drops to $14,400. He gets back up to a
pre-Daily Double $16,400 to Dave's $10,600. Rick has
$6600.
Final Jeopardy! in "Religious History":
the 1549 Act of Uniformity imposed upon England this
single liturgical volume to be used by everyone.
Correct question: what is the Book of Common Prayer?
Everyone had the King James
Bible. But John only bets much to win with $11,500. Dave
leaves with $10,600. |

It's a brand new week at the
Price, and Katherine Lockwood, Matthew Sebastian,
Brendan Klassen, and Christopher Menzies look to
capitalize. First, they'll look to a home gym. It's
worth $2595. Winner... Christopher. He's got that, now
he's got Range Game for a pair of offroad motorcycles.
He stops the range at $6576. Actual price... $6748. He's
a mite premature.
Brendan wins a $1470 chest. Now he has a shot at a
humidifier, a blower/trimmer, and a Chevrolet Malibu.
First, though, he has to win Ten Chances. Brendan has
503 to work with. After three, he gets the $30
humidifier. Next, the blower and trimmer with 7905.
After four, he gets the $970 blower trimmer. Finally,
the car, with 86170 and three chances left. He... can't
convert. Correct price: $17,680.
Katherine scores tennis
equipment worth $607. Time to go to a Clearance Sale for
an electric guitar, a popcorn cart, and a dinette. The
clearance prices... $900, $1150, and $2100. She goes
$900 for the guitar, $1150 for the popcorn cart, and
$2100 for the dinette. The guitar is $1389. The popcorn
cart is $999... D'oh! The dinette is $2725. So she gets
one right, but in the words of Jeff Probst, "Almost gets
ya nothing."
Well... almost. She gets
a spot in the Showcase.
Christine will pick up
$500 from a $500 sound system. Now can she win a trip to
Anchorage and a trip to Aspen? The game is Switch?, and
the prices marked respectively are $3364 and $5379. She
elects to switch, and ... she shouldn't have.
Matthew wins a $1344 set
of stemware, and he hopes to line it with cash in the
Grand Game. The target is $5.25. The products: Glad
trash bags, Marie Callender's fettuccine alfredo,
Carapelli olive oil, Dole pineapple slices, Nature
Valley granola bars, and LumaTweeze lighted tweezers.
The pineapple... $1.79. The granola bars... $3.29. The
olive oil... $5.49. He's got $100...
Susan Davis is up... and
then down... and then up again with a $899 gas range.
Now she gets to play for a Ford Focus. The game is Cover
Up, and the board is...
7
2 3
6 4 1
0 4 1 6
3 6 2 6 8
1 4 0 8 2
2 3 9 7 5
First try, $16,482. ... And
having been shopping for a Ford Focus yesterday, she's
right on the first shot. "Merci beaucoup." No, thank
you, Susan. She's also on the way to the Showcase.
First up, Gaby plays
lifeguard with sunglasses, inflatable cabanas, and a ski
boat. Susan passes to Katherine, who bids $35,000. Susan
gets a trip to the depot with a tub, a day bed with
mattress, and a Gemcar. She bids $29,000. Actual price:
$17,169. Over she goes. Actual price of Katherine's
Showcase... $29,099. If she took Susan's bid, she
would've won both Showcases. Instead, we have... a
double overbid.
Stats: 1-5, $24,097,
double overbid. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire? by Don Harpwood, GSNN

We start things off today
with Melissa Keane (Seaford, NY). Apparently, her
husband, James (in the audience) was nervous as she was
preparing, as she was unsure of what to wear. So he
ended up picking an outfit for her. Seems good enough to
me. Also, Melissa is here to prove that stay-at-home
moms can be smart. So, she starts doing so by knowing
that L.A. is one of the U.S.'s smoggiest cities due to
emissions from cars (though some may say that
entertainment lawyers contribute to it as well). She
sweeps the lower tier, then soon faces this...
[$8,000]
In Google's standard logo, both g's are what color?
A: Green
B: Red
C: Blue
D: Yellow
The 50:50 leaves C and D. Melissa says C... and she's
right! Another question later, and she sees this...
[$25,000]
What number follows 8 in the famous Fibonacci sequence,
which begins 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8?
A: 10
B: 12
C: 13
D: 20
Melissa takes a moment to recognize the pattern; 1+1=2,
1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8. She then says C... and she has
$25,000! She is in great shape heading into the upper
tier...
[$50,000]
In 1995, the body of what Wild West icon was exhumed so
DNA tests could confirm his identity?
A: Wyatt Earp
B: Jesse James
C: Billy the Kid
D: "Buffalo" Bill Cody
She thinks she knows this, but Melissa asks the audience
just to be sure. 65% are thinking B. But it turns out
that she was thinking C (23%). So, she calls her
brother-in-law, Joe, and he's 50% sure that it's B. With
that, Melissa decides to trust him and the audience,
saying B... and they're right! Moving on...
[$100,000]
What martial art's name literally means "the gentle
way"?
A: Karate
B: Tae kwon do
C: Kung fu
D: Judo
Melissa decides to switch it out. After the answer is
revealed to be D, this pops up...
[$100,000] (Q)
Built in 1925, the first Goodyear blimp was named what?
A: The Constitution
B: The Eagle
C: The Patriot
D: The Pilgrim
Melissa doesn't know, so she walks. After seeing that it
was D, she leaves with $50,000!
Next up is Tom Mitchell (Romeoville, IL). He prefers to
be called Mitch, though. He took the audition test 3
times before getting here, and he hopes to make the best
of this opportunity. So, Mitch starts by knowing that a
"name-dropper", in an attempt to impress others,
frequently mentions the names of famous people. He
reaches $1,000, then has this to ponder...
[$2,000]
A movie genre characterized by dark lighting and bleak
settings, "film noir" literally translates to what?
A: Dead film
B: War film
C: Empty film
D: Black film
It helps to know some French, but Mitch decides to use
the 50:50. A and D remain. He says D... and he's right!
And there's the horn. Mitch wants to stay, though;
either way, he'll be here tomorrow. |

Yo
Momma by Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 6p ET/5p CT on MTV
Host: Wilmer Valderrama |
|
|
Last season, we found the best trash
talkers in LA. This season, we're hitting the Big Apple for the
second installment of trash for cash. This is your show... "Yo
Momma!" Today, the best jokers from Bed-Stuy take on the trash
talkers in Brooklyn Heights. At stake: $1000 cash money and the
right to compete on Thursday night's Best of the Best show.
As always we're judging on
originality, delivery, quickness, and sting. Up for Bed-Stuy
first: Reckless X, Naquan, Stephania, Wilson, and Chef. Moving
onto the semis are X and Chef.
But first, we're going to Brooklyn
Heights with Carlos, Nate, Sketch, Keet, and Defcase. Jason calls
out Carlos and Keet for one more battle.
In the finals today, X (easily) and
Carlos (again, easily). Now it's time to dig up some dirt. X hits
up Carlos' crib (where they find his friend Shirley, a picture of
"Superboy", a big medicine ball, and several bootleg DVDs). Carlos
hits up X's crib as well (where he and Wilmer find wrestling mats,
baby oil, a sex wheel... don't ask, and a fur... and the
neighbors).
Doing things differently for season
2. First round is still strictly "Yo Momma" jokes. Second round,
still topics. We have a new third round, the Souvenir Round, where
each contender takes something person to bag on with. Carlos has
the fur coat, while X has "Superboy". Final round is the knockout
jokes. The final battle ends with these two KO's...
X: "Yo momma is so scary, she went toe Bronx Zoo and drove all the
animals wild. Matter of fact, I got a picture of the
right here. (takes off shirt to reveal tattoo of animal)"
Carlos: This dude's momma is so loose, and he's so ugly, the
doctor had to slap the milkman, the plumber, the mailman, Wilmer,
him, him, him, AND her! AND HER!"
Pretty even battle, but it goes
to... CARLOS! We'll see him on the best of the best battle on
Thursday night. |
