Brooks
(Debbie, James, Nathan, Cecil, Mike); $21,515, three
days |
|
Wiley
(Donald, Brenda, Kesha, Marvin, Rosemary) |
The Brooks have
been smashing in the survey rounds, but only turned Fast
Money once. Will the Wileys get wily on them today? Round
1: 100 married women, one word that always gets a man's
attention (6).
Once again, the lowest common denominator is top of the
board, as Debbie gets sex. Next on the list: money. But
that's it. The Wileys try with "pregnant". Not there,
the Brooks get 55. Other answers: food, beer, dinner,
honey.
Round 2: if
animals could talk, which one would complain the most
about humans (7)? James is second-best with cats, but
Brenda gets #1, dogs. A monkey also makes the board. The
Brooks go with horse for the steal... Of course! The
Brooks are up to 132. Other answers: mouse, deer, cow.
Double Round:
someone for whom you feel forced to buy a Christmas gift
(5). Kesha makes her mark with #3, your parents. Boss
comes in at #2. The Brooks try to steal with in-laws...
It's number one for 188. Other answers: siblings,
co-workers.
Triple Round:
something people know about Will Smith
(4). He's an actor for 3. He's a comedian for 4. Cecil
wins the faceoff. But no answers come of it, as the
Wileys steal with "married to Jada Pinkett". Number one:
rapper. Score stands at 188-57 going into...
Sudden Death:
something that a person with a really long tongue might
be able to touch on their face. That's Mike: "Their
eyebrows." Not there, going to Rosemary: "Their nose."
Good for the win, 318-188.
Brenda & Kesha
get the $20,000 in the Fast Money round using nine of
their 10 questions. |

Josh Danson
(marketing communications analyst from San
Francisco) |

Liz Lackey
(student from Wayne, NJ) |
Among the
categories in play in the Jeopardy! Round: Inside the
CIA. That's right, the Culinary Institute of America.
Vik, as the Man in Black, starts with $200 Cuban
History. Liz takes that clue, and four in Women in Song,
to start out with $2200. She'll drop to $1400 at the
time-out, while Vik inherits the lead with $2600 to
Josh's $1600.
Vik finds the
Daily Double under $1000 -ology Whiz. With Josh
breathing down his neck by $1000, he goes for double
level. The clue: thaumatology, the study of these
events, might be part of deciding who gets canonized.
"What are miracles, Alex?" Indeed for $6200. He ends the
round with $6600, while Josh ends with $3800. Meanwhile,
Liz, behind at $2000, gets to start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
Musical Compositions, finding the first Daily Double
under $1200. With nothing left to lose, Liz fronts all
of her $2000. The clue: Beethoven's "Solemnis" is this
type of religious work. "What is a mass?" Right on for
the doubler, $4000. Josh gets the second Daily Double
under $1600 Star Light, Star Bright. He bets $1000 only
on a spectral class G yellow star with an apparent
magnitude of about -26. "What is a yellow dwarf?"
Hardly. It's the sun, or "Sol", leaving him tied with
Liz's $10,400 to end the round. Meanwhile, Vik has the
lead at $15,400.
Final Jeopardy!
in "In the Encyclopedia Brittanica":
the last full 2004 micropedia article about a person is
on the Russian-born man famed as an inventor of this in
the 1920s. Correct question: What is the television,
invented by Zworykin?
Vik is the only
one to nail it, and the inventor to boot. He'll return
tomorrow with $20,801 extra, a three-day take of
$71,002. |

Sandra Fields (no
relation to Mr. Announcer), Kristen Kelley, Margie
Ellis, or Clinton Ellingston could be on their way to
San Francisco. It's Clinton who wins the trip and a
chance at a Rascal scooter and a bar set. The scooter is
marked $3276. The bar set is marked $4198. Should they
stay that way or should they be Switched? The audience
says stay. Clinton says "Switch!" The audience gives him
the business. But Clinton has the last laugh as he's
right on the money!
Sandra gets her
chance on the stage with a sofa. She plays Spelling Bee
for a Ford Focus. Only getting two of the prizes, a
sound machine and a toaster, she gets three Cs for three
tiles. Her only hope is to get the CAR card. She gets...
an R.
Kristen redeems
her earlier $4000 bid in the one-bid with a $1 bid for a
telescope. But can she take away a treadmill,
dinnerware, or a bass guitar? She can if she knows when
to Buy or Sell. The treadmill was marked $1599. The
dinnerware is marked $2020. The bass is worth $3860. She
sells all three and makes $700 for herself (she was
supposed to buy the dinnerware). But it's ace switcher
Clinton who goes to the Showcase
Marilyn
McCullough wins a range and a chance at a computer and
an armoire playing the Double Prices. The Double Prices
are $3579 and $2740. She goes for $3579, and she's
right!
Olive Anderson
wins map replicas in round 5, and now has a chance to
win five figures - $16,000! It's in the Bag, that money.
The products: Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls, Newphase,
Quickie scrub brush, Super Poligrip, Ecotrin aspirin,
and a pack of Starburst. She thinks Starburst is .55.
That's $1000. She thinks the Newphase is $15.99. That's
$2000. She thinks the rolls are $1.39. That's $4000. And
that's enough. Good move, because the aspirin, not the
Poligrip, is under $7.00
Michael Tippett
is down and up in round 6 thanks to his and hers
watches, and $500 for getting it right on the nose. But
he can't roll crap in the Dice Game, missing out on a
Dodge Dakota. It's okay, as he gets into the Showcase.
First Showcase
features a visit to Nurse Numbskull. She brings with her
garden tools, an HDTV, and a travel trailer. Top winner
Clinton passes to Michael, who bids $12,569. Clinton
gets a bedroom with mattress, a security system, and a
trip to New Zealand. He bids $13,500. Actual price:
$18,690, a $5190 difference. Actual price of Michael's
Showcase: $22,739. Clinton's the big winner with $29,212
in swag.
Stats: 3-2-1,
$60,172. |

Ruiz and Vanessa
are dressed up as Jokers, but they could have the last
laugh if they win a new Chrysler PT Cruiser worth
$15,995! It's time to guess the prices of products.
First up - Windex within $2.00. Guess - $3.00. Price -
$2.98. Very nice, and we move on to some Pledge, to be
guessed within $1.50. Guess - $3.25. Price - $4.98.
Yikes. That's not within $1.50, so they don't win the
car. They can win some more money if they guess some
plant food within a dollar, but a $2.50 guess is nowhere
the $3.99 price. Can they guess Tarn-x within 50 cents?
Their $6.50 guess is....well, we're not going to get
there yet, as Guillermo offers them a bailout of Curtain
#2. They take the curtain, and they get a stove,
refrigerator and a dishwasher package worth $2,097! By
the way, the Tarn-x was only $4.50, so they wouldn't
have gotten the money anyways.
We next go to Sergio, who is a Spanish Clown with no
pants (yipes!). He sees 2 products - a mini-tire and a
horse statue. One of those items has a nice item
connected to it. Sergio selects the horse - and doesn't
selects the $300 buyout that Guillermo offers him. The
tire is connected to Curtain #2, which features the Big
Bad Wolf fencing for a Chasco! The horse is connected to
the Box, which today has a nice trip to Las Vegas and
$600 worth of Gasoline, which is a package worth $1,150!
And now he can get himself some pants.
Trato Hecho likes to be multicultural, too, as we meet
Gloria the Geisha and Eliza the Hawaiian. Guillermo
shows them a green and pink handbag to select from.
Gloria selects the Green one, while leaves Eliza the
pink one. Does Gloria want to trade it for the box? No
she doesn't, and she gives up a washer/dryer combo worth
$1,098 - but she does get $500 from the handbag. Does
Eliza want to trade hers for Curtain #2? Yes she does,
and she gives up $500. She does have the Curtain, though
and behind there is the Big Bad Chasco Wolf cleaning out
a pirate's ear with an oversized Q-Tip while there's a
big cannon in the background. Uhhh... ok, someone was
bored.
Hopefully, no one will be bored as we get to the Gran
Trato. The couple does not want to trade, but Sergio
does, as does Gloria. Sergio wants Door #2, Gloria wants
door #3, and no one wants Door #1, which today had $850.
Sergio has traded away his trip to Vegas and a $600
certificate for gas for a trip to New York and a $600
certificate to Broadway viewing, as he gets to go on a
$2,400 trip. Gloria, however, traded her $500 for the
Gran Trato, which is a new living room, complete with
tables and carpeting, worth $5,962! That's the biggest
one we've had in quite a while. Let's see if we can do
even better tomorrow. |

Who

It's the last day
of November, so let's see if someone can cap off the
month in a big way.
First up is William Wuertz (Houston, TX), and when he
was in the first grade, his teacher gave an assignment
asking what they would do with a million dollars. He
went with a mansion and a Ferrari. Plus, he visualized
himself winning the million on a game show during that
assignment. Now, William has a chance to do that for
real, and he starts by knowing that the Boston Tea Party
was a famous act of rebellion by the American colonists
against the British. William has no trouble reaching
$1,000, and he even makes it through most of the middle
tier. Eventually, he gets to this $25,000 question...
What southern capital, once known as "Terminus," was
built on one end of the Western & Atlantic Railroad?
A: Jackson
B: Raleigh
C: Montgomery
D: Atlanta
William decides to call his friend, Andy, who is pretty
sure that it's D, since he says that's where he grew up.
So, William goes with D... and he has $25,000! On to
$50,000...
In geology, which of these periods of time is the
shortest in duration?
A: Epoch
B: Period
C: Eon
D: Era
William is pretty sure that it's B, so he goes for it...
but he's wrong! It's A! Darn, I thought he'd be able to
make it to the million, but he should be happy with
$25,000.
Next is Ursula Ziegler-Sullivan (Valley Village, CA).
She has a hobby, and it happens to be collecting
doughnuts that look like presidents. Um, yeah. I don't
know how she managed to even come across one, but she
says that apple fritters and the old-fashioned types
tend to be best for these. Plus, she also says a good
imagination helps. I see... Anyway, Ursula starts by
knowing that an oven mitt is specifically designed to
allow you to handle hot items (a father's running shoes
may require more than that). A couple of questions
later, and she has this for $500...
Advertising icon Ronald McDonald wears a clown suit that
is primarily what color?
A: Blue
B: Green
C: Purple
D: Yellow
Ursula asks the audience, and it would be quite
difficult for the results to get any more lopsided than
this. A whopping 99% of the studio audience says D (the
other 1% chose C), and a
not-so-whopping-but-still-impressive 92% agree. Ursula
naturally goes with D... and the vast majority are
right, of course. She then reaches $1,000, and after
another couple of questions, this pops up for $8,000...
Worn by stars such as Madonna and Britney Spears,
Kabbalah bracelets are made from string of what color?
A: Purple
B: Red
C: Green
D: Yellow
The 50:50 leaves B and C. She is thinking that it's B,
so she picks it... and she's right! Next stop,
$16,000...
Meaning arrogant or disdainful, the word "supercilious"
comes from the Latin word for what?
A: Upper lip
B: Forehead
C: Nostril
D: Eyebrow
Ursula is leaning towards A, but doesn't seem sure
enough, so she calls her husband, Steve. However, he is
unable to even make a guess. Ursula is still leaning
towards A, but she thinks it could be D as well.
Eventually, she decides to just go for it, and says A...
but it's D! Ouch. She seems quite disappointed, but at
least she has $1,000.
That's all for today. Here's hoping for some better luck
tomorrow. |
