Letzer
(Aidan, Thad, Devin, Rivata, Briana); $21,375, two
days |
|
Avila
(Shellie, Mario, Cristina, Carmen, John) |
The Thanksgiving
leftovers are beginning to take their toll. Let's see if
it affects their Black Friday game any. Round
1: something a cow might be doing that might make it a
bad time to milk her (5).
Shellie fires with #1, eating (or grazing). The rest of
the family gets birthing, "going potty", mating, and
sleeping for the 95-point sweep.
Round 2: an
announcement you made that startled your parents (6).
Thad gets married for 2. Mario hits the top with a baby
for #1. Cristina: "I'm gay." Richard: "And I'm having a
baby." It's #5. Other announcements: "I'm dropping out
of school" and "I'm moving out." The Letzers hope a car
accident will do it... Nope! The Avilas get 181. Other
answer: joined military.
Double Round:
when you think of a country-western music legend, what
singer comes to mind (full
board)? Devin gets Garth Brooks for #2, and Cristina
clears 4 with Willie Nelson. Rivata says Jimmy Cash
(D'oh!), but Briana tries the Man in Black for #1. The
Avilas try to steal with Loretta Lynn... the coal
miner's daughter... Not there! Other answers: Kenny
Rogers, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw (said). The Avilas
still lead it, 181-74.
Triple Round:
the name of a country that has exactly four letters
(4). Peru's good for 3, as the Avilas get control. John
gets #1, Iraq. Shellie goes with Iran for #2. The
Letzers try Cuba for the game... Got it! Letzers win,
332-181.
Thad and Devin
return to the Fast Money fold after a heart-wrenching
loss on Day 1. Devin sets them up for maybe another one,
only getting 30. They even it out at 100 for another
$500, a four-day total of $21,875. |

Bill
MacDonald
(attorney from Bonita Springs, FL); $53,798, three
days |
|
Robert J.
Lee
(attorney from Seattle) |
|
Pat Godwin
(reference assistant from Clemson, SC) |
This is the
second GSC game, but ABC11 had to preempt it for
football, so we're going to our friends at the J!
message board at jeopardy.com.
Hot lawyer on
lawyer action as Bill starts it off with $200 Stephen
King Books, finding the Daily Double under $800. Only
$800 into the fold, Bill goes for the max of $1000. The
clue: Chapter 1 of this novel says, "This here is the
best car I ever owned". "What is 'Christine'?" That's
right for $1800. And he'll turn that into $6400, while
Pat has $2800. Meanwhile, Robert at $2400 will start
Double Jeopardy!, while Jason and I stop slapping each
other's knees for a moment.
... Onto
the Double Jeopardy! round with $400
The "L" It Is!. First Daily Double goes to Bill in $800
It's In the Cards. He bets $4000, a huge gamble for the
gamblin' man. So what's between a nonstraight flush & 4
of a kind? "What is a full house?" Got it for $15,600.
Second Daily Double goes to Bill in $1600 Down to Earth.
Another big bet with $9000 of his $17,200, while the
other players have around $4000... The clue: "Cast" in
the role of the fourth most abundant element in the
Earth's crust, it's atomic number is 26. "What is
silicon?" "Cast" was important, as in "cast" iron,
leaving Bill a bit rusty with $8200. Bill rebounds
nicely with $15,000, but with Robert at $10,000 and Pat
at $8000, this is no longer a runaway.
Final Jeopardy!
in "Company Origins": This company's namesake
founder, the son of German immigrants, sold pickles to
Pittsburgh grocers. Correct question: What is Heinz?
Only Bill is
right, and only Bill would return, Today, he makes
$21,601 for a four-day total of $75,399. Can he make
himself six digits? Tune in Monday...
Once again,
thanks to Robert at J-archive.com for the help. |

Trato
Hecho by Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: Noon ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |
|
Did you fill your
gizzard last night? Well, Guillermo wants to fill up
some people's wallets today - like Esterina and Alicia,
who join Guillermo to look in some bags - purple, green,
pink and blue. Each bag has money in it, but the bag
with $1 will also net you an Ashley Furniture Dinette
Set worth $1,952! Estherina takes the blue one, while
Alicia grabs the pink one. Esterina gets an offer fur a
curtain - and takes it, giving up $300. Instead, she
gets a trip to the Chasco Barbershop, complete with
wacky wig and extra large scissors. Before we see
Alicia's bag, we open up the green one to see another
$300. Will Alicia trade for the box? She won't, and she
gives up a washer and dryer worth $1,098. Did she win
the dinette instead? No - the purple purse has the $1,
but she does get a consolation prize of $500, which is
better than the Chasco Barber Shop.
Eric is a joker today - and he trades his jester's hat
for $100. He can take the $100 and win a nice lawn mower
and cabinet set worth $797 - if he can call heads or
tails (or in this case Trato Hecho Logo or Super Pollo)
on the big coin. He goes for the logo...and he hits it!
No Super Pollo for him, as he wins the nice lawn
equipment.
Anyone up for the Wheel of Money? Gerardo the hippie and
Miguel the scholar certainly are, as they get to spin a
wheel with money values from $100 to $1,000. Gerardo,
however gets an offer to take some Vitacilina and skip
spinning the Wheel altogether. He takes the Vitacilina.
Before we find out what's in there, Miguel gets a buyout
offer in the form of what's in Guillermo's pocket, but
Miguel wants to spin the wheel. He turns down a $250
Marshall's Certificate, but he spins...$200. In the
Vitacilina for Gerardo...$300. Not bad, but not as good
as they could have gotten.
Two people will have a chance to get as good as you can
get - the Gran Trato worth over $5,000. Eric gives up
the Lawn set, but Alicia won't give up the washer and
dryer, so Gerardo, with his $300, gets to come, too.
Eric wants Door #3 and Gerardo wants Door #2. No one
wanted Door #1 - which is good because there was only
$850 there today. Next up is Door...#....3, where Eric
will be going to San Francisco on a $2,250 trip. Gerardo
knows exactly what it means - he grabs the Gran Trato -
a new living room set complete with carpeting, tables,
lights and cell phones worth $5,142. That's a nice way
to celebrate the Thanksgiving weekend. We'll see on
Monday if we can continue to spread the love - and
money. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Last time, Jeff
Donn (White Plains, NY) had to use a lifeline to get to
$500. Let's see how much farther he can get...
There are times where Jeff spends a whole afternoon
riding the NYC subways, and watching and observing
others as they enter and exit. He finds it quite
relaxing. But now, he has a chance to sit and win some
money, and he resumes by knowing that it was Hong Kong
whose Disneyland opened on Sept. 12, 2005 as chosen by a
feng shui master, to reach $1,000. Another question
later, and he faces this at the $4,000 level...
Which of these shoe names is an example of the literary
device onomatopoeia?
A: Wedge
B: Flip-flop
C: Stiletto
D: Moccasin
Jeff decides to call his father, Michael, but all he can
say is that he thinks it's not A. So, Jeff goes to the
50:50, which leaves B and D. As it turned out, all
along, he figured it was B, so he goes for it... and
he's right! If only he just went for it before using
those lifelines... Oh well, what's done is done. Moving
on, he gets to $8,000, then sees this $16,000
question...
What successful tech company was founded in 1984 by a
college student in his University of Texas dorm room?
A: Dell Computers
B: Cisco Systems
C: America Online
D: Intel
Jeff has a feeling that it could be B. After some
thought, he goes ahead and says B... but it's A! That
drops him down to $1,000, and that's what he's heading
home with.
Kim Mansi (Exton, PA) is the next contestant, and her
husband John is in the audience. When they got married,
the first place they went to on their honeymoon was
Legoland. That's what John said. Legoland. Because he's
a "Lego maniac". At least Kim made sure a younger cousin
was with them there, so it didn't seem too weird for
them to be there. And that was 12 years ago. Now, Kim
begins her road to a possible million dollars by knowing
that a police arrest usually requires the warning
"Anything you say can and will be used against you"
(good thing that line isn't used in couples therapy; at
least, as far as I know). After a couple more questions,
this comes up for $500...
Until 1998, what well-known candies were known in the
United Kingdom as Opal Fruits?
A: Hershey's Kisses
B: Starbursts
C: M&Ms
D: Tootsie Rolls
Kim asks the audience. 83% of the studio audience goes
with B, and so does 67% of the AOL Instant Messenger
users. So, Kim goes with B... and they're right! Kim
then moves through some more questions, such as one that
asks what method of fighting an infantry, a military
unit, is trained to use by definition (on foot). And she
is on a roll, as she reaches this $25,000 question...
According to her Web site, which of these novels is
Oprah's "favorite of all time"?
A: Invisible Man
B: Beloved
C: The Color Purple
D: To Kill a Mockingbird
Kim calls a co-worker, Jeffrey, who says D, but he isn't
really sure. Kim then uses the 50:50, which leaves B and
D. But she's still not sure enough to go for it, so she
decides to walk. Though she could have had more if she
went with D (which was the right answer), she seems
happy with $16,000.
The next shot at the hot seat goes to Ben Byrne
(Greenfield, MA), and he's a webmaster. No, it's not as
kinky as Meredith apparently thought at first. He does
the graphics and handles database stuff for a non-profit
site. Though if the site happens to be... Never mind;
let's just get going. Ben starts by knowing that one
thing that's included on a person's résumé is work
experience. He then breezes through more questions like
one that asks what famous story has the line "There are
two kinds of lies, lies with short legs and lies with
long noses" (Pinocchio), before reaching $2,000.
That'll do it for this week. Ben will be back for more
on Monday. |
