Letzer
(Aidan, Thad, Devin, Rivata, Briana) |
|
Parsons
(Tim, Charise, Tiffany, Chantel, Taryn) from
Arizona; $41,340, four days |
It looks like
the Parsons are going to ride this gravy train all the
way to the Victory Junction, but not if the Letzers have
anything to say about it. Round
1: something Marilyn Monroe will always be remembered
for (6). Aidan gets #2, the blown-up dress. Tim tries
Kennedy... #5. Thad acts for #4. Rivata gets #1, her
platinum blonde hair. Going back to Kennedy for that
birthday song at #3. It goes to the champs, who go
with her... boobs. But that's already said (sort of), so
they go with her suicide... Not there, the Letzers have
94. Other answer: her mole.
Round 2: a four
letter word that's something everyone wants (6).
Twenty-two people each said cash (Thad) and food (Charise),
but it goes to the challengers. But they pass. Taryn
wants love for #1. The Letzers have a chance with
"luck"... Got it for 174! Other answer: gold, hope.
Double Round:
the kind of dancing you think is the hardest (5). Salsa
is good for #3 for Devin. Briana gets #1, the tango,
while the rest of the family... strikes out. The Parsons
go with ballet.. Up there for 64! Other answer:
breakdancing, waltz.
Triple Round:
something you spend more money on the older you get
(4). Rivata gets #1, healthcare. Aidan gets #4,
vacations. Devin gets #3, car. Over to the Parsons for
#2... They hope it's life insurance... Not there! The
Letzers win it, 366-64. Other answer: clothes/shoes
(said!)
The apparently
very sexy Thad and Devin can't convert in Fast Money for
$720. |

Michael
Cramer
(graduate student from Virginia Beach, VA); $22,600 |
|
Jeanne
McDougall (communications consultant from San
Diego) |
|
Bill McDonald
(attorney from Vinita Springs, FL) |
The Unofficial
Game Show Congress Week on Jeopardy! continues with
Michael stepping up to podium #1 to defend. He starts it
off with $200 Europe. Jeanne steps up as she finds the
Daily Double under $1000 Presidential Fast Facts. In the
lead by $400, she bets all of her $1200 on the only 20th
Century President who didn't attend formal college. "Who
was Abraham Lincoln?" Not even in the 20th Century, as
Harry Truman zaps her to zero, a tie with Bill.
After the break,
it's a two-man race between Michael's $2600 and Bill's
$4200 at the end of the round. Jeanne, still at the zero
mark (actually better than she had been; she was in the
red once) starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
Crusades. At $9800, Bill would find the first Daily
Double under $1600 Also a State Capital. He goes $4500
on another word for a peace treaty. "What is
Concord?" Right for $14,300. But now it's
Michael's chance to get into the game with $1200 Soft
"G", the other Daily Double. He bets $4000 on a
"fitting" or "pertinent" homophone for a famous pop
quintet member. He blanks. It was "germane" (as in
Michael and Tito's brother), as Michael drops to $1000.
An up-and-down game for Michael ends downward as he is
out at -$600, meaning we will have a new champion today
as Michael leaves with $23,600. As for Jeanne with $5200
and Bill with $14,300... well, it's just peas and
carrots now, isn't it?
Final Jeopardy!
in "20th Century Books": this 1972 book, a bestseller in
2005, begins "We were somewhere around Barstow... when
the drugs began to take hold." Correct question:
What is "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S.
Thompson?
Way to take all
the drama out of it. Bill wins this one hands down with
$18,199. |

Katrina Morris,
Derrick Davis, Theresa Kales, and Regina Gordine get
things started with a comfort-spa. Katrina gets that spa
and a chance at luggage, a recumbent bike, and
dinnerware. And winning all of that is Easy as 1-2-3. 1
goes with the dinnerware ($875). 2 goes with the luggage
($1500). 3 goes with the exercycle ($1999). And a win
goes with her.
Theresa collects a
curio clock, and you know what looks good on that?
Money! The kind you make playing Plinko! After getting
chips from Bob, a humidifier, a CD rack and a radio, she
translates them into $2600.
Derrick manages
a set of language courses, and he can learn how to say
Ten Chances in Spanish now. Los premios: a crepe maker,
a pair of electric guitars, and a Ford Focus! First,
though, the crepe maker, with the numbers 5, 0, and 3 to
work with. He tries $30. Boom. Done. Now to the guitars
with 8, 2, 0, and 6. It takes two chances for him to win
the $620 cherry axes. Now to the car, which has 8, 1, 7,
0, and 9. It takes all but three chances, but he's got
himself a $18,970 set of wheels. And speaking of wheels,
Derrick manages to conquer a big one, as he's going to
the Showcase.
Thing I learned
watching TPIR #634: "Don't shout Phire' in a crowded
building."
Regina gets a
cotton candy cart in round 4, but can she get a home
theatre sofa group with an HDTV? She can if she Picks a
Pair of products that have the same price. On offer,
Hunt's tomatoes, Gold Bond lotion, Campbell's tomato
soup (possibilities!), Marie Callender's Fettuccine
Alfredo, Airborne Jr., and Mrs. Dash seasoning. He goes
with the tomatoes... 99 cents. Now to the soup... 99
cents!
We've got a
gold/diamond ring, and now Mia Magdaleno has a
gold/diamond ring! And she's got a Chevrolet HHR after
going boom, boom, on the Money Game. Middle number: 5.
Choices: 15, 62, 84, 48, 17, 71, 29, 33, 16. 17's in
front, 84's in the back. Just like that, another new car
rolling out of CBS.
Finally, Bob
offers a gas grill. Bethany Berger gets the grill and
the shot at a trip to Copenhagen. The game is Coming or
Going. Coming is $4538. Going is $8354. She's coming...
and she should've gone. Mia goes to the Showcase after
besting her competition. Meanwhile Jeffrey, who
high-fives a page for luck (I've seen this page, she's a
tall drink of water)... is stuck in Contestant's Row.
First up in the
Showcase, Raggedy Ann, who looks good for 90. She gets
tossed on a rocking chair, tossed in a washer/dryer,
tossed on a motor scooter, and gets a ride in a
Chevrolet Impala. Top winner Derrick bids $22,500.
Meanwhile, Mia gets a bedroom with sleep set, towels,
and a hovercraft. She bids $25,000. Actual price:
$20,809. She's over. Actual price of Derrick's Showcase:
$26,347. He's your big winner with $47,237. |

Hecho by Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: Noon ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |
|
The first play had
Juan and his wife go for a case on the Price Switching
game, but they don't win it because they were off by 1
switch. Ouch. They exchange their money for Curtain #3
and get a refrigerator worth $1,899!
The second segment has Musketeer Rofalleo deciding
between Curtain #2 and a mystery check. He goes for the
check, turning down a lawn mower and a storage cabinet
worth $797 - and then turns down a $300 buyout offer.
Inside the check is $100. Awwww.
We have a check from the Home Depot starting at
$10...and the last 2 numbers missing. Enrique the Indian
gives away girl the Check to Joanna the school and
gets...Chasco Bond the Mannequin as he is hiding with
the secret agent spy animals. Joanna also gives away the
check and they both give away a $1,000 check! Joanna
gets Chasco Bond the mannequin who's now in the
interrogation room. A pair of people get Chascoed as we
go to...
The Gran Trato! Juan and his wife Cecilia go for it, as
well as Rofalleo the Musketeer. Juan's wife selects door
#2 and Rafael selects door #3> neither of them get Door
#1, which is a barbecue set, china, bicycles, and a
lobstergram worth a total of $2,569. The
Musketeer...does NOT get the Gran Trato, but he does get
$700. The Gran Trato, which is a new living room set
complete with carpeting worth $5,543, goes to the
couple, who seem very happy. Tune in tomorrow to see if
we can keep the win streak going. |

Last time, Navy
doctor Megan Ryan (San Diego) operated to the tune of
$2000. She still has her three lifelines as well. She'll
use her first at $4000...
In a formal place
setting, which of these utensils is traditionally placed
farthest to the left?
A) Salad fork
B) Dinner knife
C) Soup spoon
D) Tea spoon
The audience
returns with A, 80 percent, while AOL comes back the
same with 61 percent. And Sarah knew it all along, just
getting left and right. Only thing matters is that SHE'S
right! Now she has to use another at $8000:
The word "regifting,"
which refers to the recycling of unwanted gifts, was
popularized in a 1995 episode of what sitcom?
A) Home Improvement
B) Roseanne
C) Friends
D) Seinfeld
The 50/50 leaves
A and D. She thought Seinfeld to start... and it's a
good start for $8000. After breezing past $16,000, we go
to $25,000:
Identified in
2005 as "Deep Throat," W. Mark Felt was formerly the
second-in-command at what US agency?
A) FBI
B) State Department
C) Secret Service
D) CIA
She phones up
her sister Tricia. "Okay, hold on... FBI. He was the
former agent to the FBI." Sounds like a Googling. And
Meredith calls her on it! Oh well, she wins the $25K
anyway. Going to $50,000...
Which of the
Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was built first?
A) Hanging Gardens of Babylon
B) Pyramids of Giza
C) Colossus of Rhodes
D) Lighthouse at Pharos
It would be
smarter to Switch, so she does. She thinks it was A...
It wasn't. It was B. Now to a new question...
Often made out
of two thermometers, a psychrometer is an instrument
used to measure what?
A) Air pressure
B) Humidity
C) Wind direction
D) Gravity
She goes with
B... and she's right! Now to $100,000...
The phrase
"eating humble pie" originally referred to a dish made
from the innards of what animal?
A) Pheasant
B) Deer
C) Rabbit
D) Duck
She thinks it's
either rabbit or deer. But will she go for it? She's
taking a $25,000 risk on rabbit pie... It was deer pie.
But husband Terry's happy with $25,000. Next up,
Michael Andrew (Iowa City, IA) is a corrections officer
with one lousy car. You could call it a "hooptie." He's
on the road to a new one, having breezed through the
lower tier. Then to $2000 thanks to Ashton Kutcher. Then
to $4000 thanks to Applebee's. Then to $8000 thanks to
an estate tax. Then to $16,000 thanks to pizzazz not
being able to be played in Scrabble, which gives him a
look at the $25,000:
Which of the
following is not the name of an island nation located in
the Caribbean Sea?
A) Trinidad and Tobago
B) Suriname and Guyana
C) St. Kitts and Nevis
D) Antigua and Barbuda
He goes to the
audience for this, and NYC returns with B, 82 percent,
knowing that they're landlocked in South America.
Meanwhile four out of 10 AOLers agree. He was leaning
toward that... and he's going into tomorrow's show with
$25,000 secured! |
