Bobo
(Casey, Kimette,
Cher'ron, Inous, Margie) |
|
Dinapoli
(Danielle, Mandi, Karen, Samantha, Michael) from
Allentown, PA; $20,000 |
After the train, the
Dinapolis can take a jet plane back to Allentown if they
watned to. Round 1: a topic that, if a woman were an
expert on it, would really impress a man (7). Danielle
gets number one with sports. Is she can expert? "Not
really." Cars, finances, and sex also make the list. But
it's up to the Bobos now. They go with electronics. Sure
turns me on... Hey-ooo! Not there, the Dinapolis on the
board with 78. Other answer: mechanic/engineer,
politics, massage therapy.
Round 2: a famous man
named Barry (6). Mandi gets the top of the board with
Barry White. Other famous Barrys: Manilow and Bonds.
Unfortunately for Mandi, Barry Watson of "7th Heaven"
isn't that famous... yet. The Bobos go with Berry Gordy.
It's number 6 for 79! Other answers: Barry Goldwater,
Barry Gibb.
Double Round: a food
that's better when it's homemade (full board). Cher'ron
loves homemade lasagna. It's number one. Also making the
survey: cake and bread. The Dinapolis go with pie for
the steal. "Pie is up there!" Sure is for 174. Other
answers: soup/stew, potato salad.
Triple Round: a place
people belt out a tune when they think they're alone (4).
Inous fires with the shower, number one. Casey scores
with the car. The Dinapolis go with mirror... but we
need a place. They go with the bedroom mirror... and the
champs are still champs, 447-79. Other answer: elevator.
Michael & Mandi had
such a great go around for the first time in Fast Money,
that they go for it again. Unfortunately, they only get
$640 today for a two-day total of $20,640. |

Jeff Pandin
(history teacher from Alexandria, VA); $18,000 |
|
Joey Bland
(actor/improviser from Chicago) |
|
Jennifer Furlong
(account manager from Brighton, MA) |
Three J's enter... one J
leaves. Or maybe two if there's a tie. Jeff starts with
$200 The Spanish-American War, but Joey finds the Daily
Double under the $800 level. With only a grand to his
name, Joey is all-in on this: the peace treaty gave this
island to the US; the rest of the Marianas were later
purchased by Germany. "What is Guam?" Got it for $2000!
He parlays that into a commanding lead, $7400 to Jeff's
$3800. Meanwhile, Jennifer, who comes back from red to
score $200, starts up Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
TV Cartoon Pooches. Last two categories in play hold the
Daily Doubles this round. The first one is under $1600
Where There's a Will. Joey, with $17,800, bets $3000 on
the author who divided hunters and fire-keepers. "Who is
Golding?" Of "Lord of the Flies," yes, for $20,800.
Afterwards, Joey jumps to $1600 Architects, the other
Daily Double. He fronts $2000 this time on the creator
of the Barcelona Chair. "Who is Corbusier?" Nope, it was
Mies van der Rohe, leaving Joey with $18,800, still in
the lead with $20,000 at the end of the round.
Meanwhile, Jeff can take it with $11,400. Jennifer is
the longshot at $1000.
Final Jeopardy! in
"18th Century Correspondence": in 1779 she
wrote, "Whilst you are.. emancipating all nations, you
insist upon retaining an absolute power over wives." Correct query: Who was
Abigail Adams?
Looks like the history
teacher has a slight advantage. Will it be enough to
over Joey's lead? Nope. Joey wins it with $27,000. Jeff
leaves with $20,000 even, though. And hard-earned, too;
he made a game breaker of a move in betting everything. |

The time has come! Join the
fun! Here comes #1! And here comes a drum set. It goes
to Nicole Moore, the first one called from the audience.
Can she parlay that into a hot tub? It's literally a
Pushover. The setup:
6 8 2 9 0 5 1 6 0.
The magic window reads
$8290 when all is said and done. More people think she's
wrong than right. The actual price... $8290. Shows was
the average Price audience thinks.
Round 2 has a telescope,
as Barbara Wald and up before you can say "telescope".
And it's a good thing, too, because she's got a chance
to win a Ford Freestar! And so far, it's worth 25 cents.
The game is Pocket ¢hange. First number is 2. We get to
$28,357 for the van, which now costs $1.75. We've got
the 25 cents to start. Then we get a dime... another
dime... diddly-jack... and... a quarter. 75 cents. No
van.
Let's have better luck
with a clock. Dorothy Dawson gets that grandfather clock
and a chance to win $16,000! In the It's In the Bag bags
(possibly): Udderly Smooth lotion, Airborne, Little
Debbie Marshmallow Treats, Pine-Sol, Tylenol Arthritis
Pain, and Goldfish. Are the Goldfish 89¢? Yep, $1000.
And that's as far as we go. Is the Airborne $12.49? No.
That's $1000 right there. And that's $1000 for Barbara
on the Bob-aided spin in the Showdown round. But that's
it.
The train brings out a
sofa for round 4, as Debra Kidwell rides it to a pair of
offroad motos. They can be hers if she knows whether
she's Coming ($8476) or Going ($6748). She's Going... to
take home those two bikes!
It's just been Ladies Night at the Price is Right, but
Casey Konrad strikes one for the brothers in the
audience with an exerciser. And at just the right time,
as Casey's going for a Ford Escape in the Dice Game.
First number is 2. Casey shoots 1, exactly. He shoots 4,
lower. He shoots 1 again, exactly!. He shoots 4 again,
lower. The price... $21,615. Darn. Both wrong.
Krislyn Wright finally
escapes with a ceiling fan in round six. Meanwhile,
Krislyn gets to play for a trip to New York City and a
Broadway.com gift certificate. All she has to do is
connect the Secret X. She wins X'es from a coin sorter
and a pair of binoculars. The positions: upper left,
lower right, and upper right. So if the secret X is in
the lower row, she loses.. Doesn't happen, though. She's
a winner. And she gets $6000 to spend in the NYC thanks
to HER Showdown round. She's the top winner to Barbara's
runner-up.
First Showcase features
Coach Yeller berating her team over a Ripley's Believe
It or Not pinball, a 52" HDTV, and a cruise of the
Orient. Krislyn passes to Barbara, who bids $18,600, a
difference of $3432. Meanwhile, Krislyn gets a new
bedroom with dressings and mattress, backpacking
equipment, and an amphibious all-terrain vehicle.
Krislyn bids $23,750. Actual price: $21,495. Barbara
wins today with $24,682 in cash, prizes, and cruise.
Just don't blow it all at blackjack on that cruise!

Michelle
(21; Stewartstown, PA; swim teacher/lifeguard);
loves her some Fiona Apple, recently moved to LA to
pursue music |
|
Kat
(21; College Park, MA; nanny); likes "crowd
surfing", biggest influence is family, loves Crowded
House |
|
Mike (24;
Los Angeles; pro golfer); recently graduated from
Princeton, speaks three foreign languages, big into
surfing and "The Princess Bride" |
Ah, a Princess Bride
geek is in the offing today. Nice. Mike's words:
Michael, golf, beach, king. The prize: a date with Mike
in Cabo. But you have to write the song first!
So let's get to that. Michelle is
going for "new age disco" in the writing room. Ryan wants Michelle
to relax and have some fun instead of being a little nervous.
Meanwhile over with the band, Kat... "Hey, I'm Kat. You're Mike."
Okay, if that's all she has, she's in trouble.
A switch in order. Kat likes
something light and fun. "Let's drive! To the fairway!" Hey, that
works. Meanwhile, Michelle's song morphs from the new age disco to
just generic pop. Ryan's notes on Kat: she has a hard time picking
a melody and running with it.
Who wants to win a date with a
golfer? Mike wants to hear something that catches him. So let's
catch him in seclusion, while Michelle takes the stage first with
"Take Me Home". Reminds me of Joss Stone, which would be a good
thing if she can find a way to hold a pitch without going nuts on
it. "Very creative use of the words!"
"You'll Be My King" is Kat's
offering. It's more of a rock vibe, and I'm glad she finally chose
something that actually flowed. "Extra points for getting my
favorite golf course in there." Kat mentioned Pebble Beach.
I would go out with either one of
them, really... but there can only be one winner. Mike picked...
Michelle. |

Yesterday, John Schmidt
(Glenview, IL) made it to $16,000. How will he do today?
John did a lot in his life; got married, has a family,
won a case before the Supreme Court, and he even beat
cancer! And the icing on the cake for him? Being on this
show! Now I'm really rooting for him to win the million.
Anyway, the game resumes with this $25,000 question...
Making a comeback in the U.S., the blood-sucking "Cimex
lectularius" is an insect better known by what name?
A: Tick
B: Dust mite
C: Chigger
D: Bedbug
John decides to call Michael, a friend of a co-worker.
Michael is 65% sure that it's D, because he is aware
that the bedbug is making some sort of a comeback. But
John uses the 50:50 to make sure, and D remains, along
with B. With that, John trusts Michael and goes with
D... and he has $25,000! After a successful gamble on
the $50,000 question, John is faced with a question at
the $100,000 level asking what is the only U.S. state
requiring its employers by law to offer health insurance
to full-time workers. But he doesn't know the answer
(which is Hawaii), so he switches it out, and after a
commercial break, this is subbed in for $100,000...
A series of five letters between Pierre de Fermat and
Blaise Pascal is credited with establishing what branch
of modern mathematics?
A: Trigonometry
B: Algebra
C: Number theory
D: Probability
John thinks for a bit, saying he's leaning towards D,
but he's unsure. Eventually, he decides that he won't go
for it, and he'll walk. The answer was in fact D, but
John does return home with $50,000!
Up next is Elizabeth Goldman (Oaklyn, NJ). She's a disc
jockey, who goes by the name of "D.J. El Boogie". She
used to be an attorney, though. Seems weird to go from
law to radio that way, but that's how it turned out for
her. Anyway, Elizabeth starts by knowing that the
biblical place name commonly used as a synonym for
"paradise" is Eden. A few questions later, and this
shows up for $1,000...
In celebration of the summer solstice, what U.S. city
has hosted the annual Midnight Sun Marathon since 1973?
A: Seattle
B: Anchorage
C: Honolulu
D: Miami
Elizabeth asks the audience, and 83% of the studio
audience says B, with 31% of the AIM users in agreement.
After complimenting the audience's intelligence, she
trusts them... and they're right! Eventually, she faces
this for $8,000...
The memorable line "Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, oh no no" is
repeated throughout what chart-topping dance hit of
2003?
A: Yeah!
B: Hey Ya!
C: Crazy in Love
D: In da Club
Since she is a disc jockey, one would think that
Elizabeth would know this. She seems sure after thinking
about it, and she goes with B... but she's wrong! It's
C! It's a shame that she went out on this type of
question, but at least she's leaving with $1,000.
Moving on, Christa McHugh (East Lyme, CT) enters the hot
seat. She's a bartender, and of course, she likes the
occasional drink. Getting right to the game, she starts
by knowing that according to legend, George Washington
refused to tell a lie about chopping down a tree (I
don't think someone like him would steal HBO, even if it
were to exist back in his time). Christa then moves
through, answering questions like one which asks what
ability a Superball, a toy ball invented by a chemical
engineer in the 1960s (not the kind from a certain
retired TPiR pricing game), is known for (bouncing
high), before reaching $2,000.
And the horn goes off, meaning Christa will have to wait
until tomorrow to continue on. |
