Guyovich
(Toni, Maggie, Tom,
Alex, Bernadette) |
|
Ferris (Laura, Jill, Annie, Wileen, Mike);
$20,000 |
Will the champs be the
"Ferris" this time? Round 1: something that starts with
the letter "C" that men don't like to do
(5). Laura fires with clean, #1. The family can only
come up with cook for #2. Can the challengers steal with
"cut hair?" Nope. Ferrises get 76. Other answers:
cuddle, chores, cry.
Round 2: an occupation
whose workers might be offered a bribe (6). Jill fires
with police officer, #1. You can also bribe a politician
and a lawyer, but the Guyoviches are hoping to slip a
few to the maitre d'. Not there, the Ferrises have 150.
Other answers: city inspector, athlete, contractor.
Double Round: the worst
aspect of flying (5). Tom gets the board with turbulence
at #3. But that's all she wrote for that one. Can the
champs take it with takeoff? It's #4 for... 174! I still
can't believe that no one thought of #1, crashing. I
can't believe it. Other answers: landing, ears plug
up/pop.
Triple Round: something
people use to swat a fly (4). Alex gets #1, a fly
swatter. Bernadette gets #2, a newspaper. Toni gets #4,
their hand. Alex rounds it out with shoe, giving them
297. And so, by three points, we're going to...
Sudden Death: something
people do before a movie starts. Mike tries tickets...
Not there. Bernadette tries food... Up there! The
Guyoviches win it, 540-174.
Tom & Toni take the Fast
Money Board for... $610. |

(law student from Austin, TX); $5300 |
|
John Kelly
(attorney from Atlanta) |
|
Claire O'Brien
(administrative assistant from Seattle) |
A secretary from Seattle
and an attorney from Texas are about to dance with a
Longhorn. Amanda starts with $200 The Old Testament.
After wanting "blood", Amanda returns to the category
she started and goes after the Daily Double under $600.
With $2000 less than leading John, Amanda makes it true.
The clue: one lie he told was "If they bind me with 7
green withs that were never dried, then shall I be
weak." "Who is Samson?" And Amanda doubles up to $2800.
After a brief flirtation
with the color red, Claire is back in blue with $2800.
Bad news, $5600 for Amanda and $4600 for John. But
Claire's fortunes can change with Double Jeopardy! which
she starts...
... with $400
The "I"s Have It. John finds the Daily Double under
$2000 He Shoots, He Scores!, which, at $11,800, can also
describe John's playing ability at the moment. He bets
$2200 on 2 pianos and one gorgeous blonde. "Who are 'The
Fabulous Baker Boys'?" Right on for $14,000. Two clues
later, Claire finds the other Daily Double under $2000 "I"s.
She bets level on the secret society of "Angela &
Demons". "What is the Illuminati?" Right on for $8400.
Tied going into the last clue, Amanda breaks out with
$9600 to Claire's $7600. But they both have a hard
charge against John's $16,000.
But it gets a little
easier for Claire as she is augmented to $10,800 thanks
to a line-judge research over the break. This puts her
at second and Amanda at third.
Hey, Las Vegas! Hey
Phoenix! Jeopardy!'s coming to your town! Sign up to

"Classic Television": it was the first TV

your winner with with $21,601. Amanda leaves with $6300.

Okay, something you should
know off the top of the bat. Tomorrow, barring any
Presidential business, you'll get to see the Game Show
Congress invasion of TPIR. Will we clean up or fizzle
out? I guess you're just going to have to wait until
then... Meanwhile,
we start off the week with Scott Miller, the first one
up on stage thanks to his knowledge of the price of a
treadmill, rowing machine, and "Stretch Partner"... that
would be $2400, by the way. The question all America and
Canada want to know now is, with a catamaran on the
line... does Scott know how to play the Check Game?
"I remember the game.
Gimme a little rundown."
At least he remembers
it. That's a... pretty piss poor start, though. A
spectacular finish, though, as he sails on his catamaran
to any bank that'll cash a $2200 check THAT big. Naw,
bro. You gotta finish that check out before you cash it.
That's "two thousand, two hundred." By the way, happy
birthday.
He'll take on Ashley
Watson in the Showcase. The last of the first four
arrives in round 5 thanks to a fireplace. From somewhere
hot to somewhere cold, as she has a chance to win a trip
to Vancouver, BC in the Grocery Game. The groceries:
Johnson's Baby Shampoo, O-Cedar squeegee, Oxford index
cards, Uncle Ben's rice, and Airborne gummi lozenges.
She takes three of the lozenges and three of the
shampoos. Total of... $20.04!
First Showcase has the
Nosy Photo, where your photos come back in an hour with
Brandi's fingerprints all over'em. In the photos: a
sofa, a pool table, and a Ford Mustang! Scott keeps this
one and bids $24,000. Meanwhile, Ashley gets a dining
room group with dinnerware, 12 Bruce Springsteen CDs,
and a CD jukebox. Ashley bids $15,000, a different of
only $3231. Actual price of Scott's Showcase? $32,000
and change. Ashley wins it with $24,668 in prizes.
Stats: 4/6, $57,654, and
one more instance of Bob getting the only person in the
crowd that doesn't know how to play the Check Game. |

Score by
Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 4:30p ET/3:30p CT on MTV
Host: Ryan Cabrera |
|
|
John (24;
Bellville, KS; guitarist); loves Kurt Cobain & Jimi
Hendrix, describes his music as "junk"
(jazz/rock/funk/etc/etc) |
|
Curtis
(22; San Diego; guitarist); huge pop music fan,
hopeless romantic |
|
Shelly Kohl (21;
Kansas City, MO; former cheerleader); very
independent, is a big geek... self-described. |
Is it me or is the scar
on Shelly's right shoulder just a little bit off? I
mean, is this Score or Distraction? Just picking nits
here... Anyway, a date with a cheerleader (because once,
always) and a trip to Mazatlan is on the line. The
words: Shelly (because that's her name), nerd (because
she is one), funny (because she likes it), tanning
(because she has a problem called tanorexia).
And we have eight hours. Don't get
burned. John is first with Ryan in the writing room. He's thinking
about setting the stage in 24 hours.. in 2 minutes... with a sax.
Meanwhile, Curtis... wants to write a chick love song... with the
chords from "Wonderwall." Blasphemy! Ryan's notes on John: "Almost
too many ideas."
Switchings, switchings, switchings!
Curtis changed it up a bit. And it's nice to know that he's not
holding back any more. Meanwhile, John wants to play guitar, sing,
play sax, scat, and somehow fit "tanning" into a song. Can he do
it? Probably if he cleans his spit valve. Ryan's notes on Curtis:
a good lyric writer.
Looks like Curtis may have a walk
here. Let's go to the Avalon. Three geeks enter... two geeks leave
for Mexico. One geek goes home defeated and humiliated. First up,
John brings the "junk" with "If She Only Knew". Very creative use
of the "junk". I would've liked to see the sax bust out, but the
scat's cool. "I heard nothing but good things."
Curtis has his work cut out with
"Waiting for You". It's... pop rock. It's The Calling, it's Evan &
Jaron, it's the host of this show. It's definitely Curtis' strong
point. But will it be enough? "I loved it! It was so sweet!"
So is it the dude with the song by
98* or the dude with the song by Seal? Shelly picked... Curtis.
Sweetness wins every time. |

Turn. Over to Nate...he hits Bankrupt...back to Lauren.
She hits and picks up the VIP Trip to the Capital One

worth $6,000! She has $7,000!
The Jackpot round is sponsored by Midas. The category is

The $3,000 tossup is next. AROUND THE HOUSE IT IS.
Lauren is over $12,000 with WOOL BLANKET. She starts
this round which is RHYME TIME.... but it's FINAL SPIN
TIME...and Pat hits the big one! $6,000 a letter
tonight. And Lauren blows everyone with PUT THE PEDAL TO
THE METAL and $54,000! Yes you heard me right! Chip
leaves with $2,000. Lacy leaves with $6,450. But Lauren
is the massive winner with $66,350 in cash, trip to the
Capital One Bowl, and ebags gift certificate!
Can Lauren add more to her already humongous total? I
hope so. She lands on the last 0 in $100,000. Her
category tonight is PHRASE. With the
RSTLNE we have:
R _ _ _ &
_ _ _ R _
She chooses PGCA and we have:
R _ _ _ &
_ _ A R _
They weren't there for her. Any college student should
have known ROOM & BOARD. But she lost a 2006 Ford
Fusion. But don't feel too sorry for her
at all. She has $66,350 in cash and prizes! Great job,
Lauren. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by

Last time, Noel Gonzales
(San Diego, CA) got to the $8,000 level, using 2
lifelines on the way. How much farther will he go?
Noel, who is with the Navy, remembers seeing a pilot
make a perfect landing on an aircraft carrier one day.
It was just the wrong carrier. That guy didn't get in
much trouble, though, since the commander had a sense of
humor. Now to see if Noel can land on 7 more right
answers to reach the million, as the game resumes with
this $16,000 question...
A well-known "sensitive" variety of what plant closes
its leaves in response to a person's touch?
A: Poinsettia
B: Hibiscus
C: Geranium
D: Mimosa
Noel uses the 50:50, which leaves B and D. After some
thought, Noel goes with B... but it's D! Ooh, it's a
shame that he had to crash out at this point, but he
will be heading home with $1,000.
Next in the hot seat is Hollie Morgan (Mount Dora, FL),
an attorney who has started her own business. She could
certainly use some money to help with that business, so
they get right to it. Hollie starts by knowing that in
the 1995 movie "Apollo 13", a famous line delivered by
an astronaut is "Houston, we have a problem" (though a
"wardrobe malfunction" in outer space could really be a
problem). She then breezes through a bunch of questions,
including one which asks what the first M in MGM, the
legendary movie studio, stands for (Metro). In fact,
Hollie eventually makes it all the way to $25,000
without using a single lifeline! Very few people have
managed to do that these days! So, with a total of 4
lifelines available, she faces this question worth
$50,000...
A prominent insurgent leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
is from what neighboring country?
A: Jordan
B: Saudi Arabia
C: Syria
D: Kuwait
Hollie decides to use a lifeline this time, and she
calls Marie. But Marie is unable to get an answer in on
time. So, Hollie then asks the audience. 39% of the
studio audience says B, and so does 38% of the AIM
users. Hollie now just wants to make sure, and uses the
50:50, which leaves A and B. She decides then to trust
the audience and says B... but they're wrong! It was A
(chosen by 18% of the studio audience and 16% of the AIM
users)! At least Hollie had nothing to lose at this
level, so she goes home $25,000 richer.
Now, it's time for this season's 50th player, Eric Root
(Philadelphia, PA). He works at a grocery store, but he
prefers trash picking over coupon clipping for a good
deal. Yeah, he goes through other people's garbage (not
in closed bags, though). And he's not afraid to admit
it. Anyway, he starts by knowing that the expression
"it's the thought that counts" usually refers to giving
gifts (if only telepathy was real...). He asks the
audience on the next question, though, to figure out
that in 2005, it was China that announced its plans to
create a national blood bank for giant pandas (answer
chosen by 93% of the studio audience and 65% of the AIM
users). A few more questions later, he sees this for
$2,000...
What four-letter acronym is the name of a tax withheld
from a person's salary to fund Social Security?
A: OSHA
B: FICA
C: COLA
D: FEMA
Eric uses the 50:50, which leaves B and C. Now, the
other 2 times the 50:50 was used today, the player
picked the wrong answer. Eric goes with B... and this
time, he's right! On to the $4,000 question...
What is the largest U.S. state in area among the 48
contiguous states?
A: Texas
B: Montana
C: Nevada
D: California
Eric chooses to call Mike, who simply says that it's A.
Eric goes with A... and he's up to $4,000!
And time is up for today. Eric has no lifelines left,
but he will be back tomorrow to see if he can continue
on his own. |
