two days |
|
Ferris (Laura, Jill, Annie, Wileen, Mike) |
Will this episode be
able to save Ferris? Round 1: 100 married
men, something you wouldn't want another man giving your
wife
(5). Falasha: "That good lovin'." Not up there, but so
true. Laura gets #2 with flowers. Wileen gets #1 with
jewelry. Can the Alis steal with lingerie? Got it for
46. Other answers: a kiss, attention/"the look".
Round 2: in the movies,
something Indians wore that cowboys didn't (5). Jill
hits the top with feathers. They also wore war paint,
loin cloths, and a bow & arrow. The Alis go with
moccasins... and grab the bank for 137.
Double Round: something
you pull out (5). Annie gets teeth, #2. Hair is also
there, but we're looking for #1 here. The Alis go with
weeds for... no score. The Ferrises get 52. Other
answers: drawer, sofa bed, Nail.
Triple Round: 100 women,
an occasion in your life where you remember what you

there! The Ferrises have 262. Other answer: birthday,
graduation.
Sudden Death: soemthing
that starts with "in your"... Mike: "In your face." And
that's in the Alis face, 442-137.
Mother-and-daughter
Wileen & Annie get $20,000 in eight. |

(communications consultant from Naperville, IL);
$33,401 |
|
Paulette Beete
(writer from Takoma Park, MD) |
|
Amanda Traphagan
(law student from Austin, TX) |
From the looks of
things, Amanda wants to rock our world. Either that or
she's a Texas Longhorn. I'm going to wager on the
latter, while Steve starts this rock show with $200
Bring Your "A" Game. At the time out, Amanda brings
hers, getting $2200 to Paulette's $400 and Steve's zippo.
Pretty adequate considering that both Paulette and Steve
were in negative numbers early on.
Last category in play is
Presidential Daughters, as Amanda finds the Daily Double under $400.
She fronts $1000 on the one who met her future husband
at Ike's inauguration. "Who are the Kennedys?"
Not it, she was Julie Nixon, leaving her with $800. She
doubles up to end the round with $1600, still third to
Steve's $2000 and Paulette's $2400. Still anyone's match
as Amanda prepares to start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
"Poo" Pourri. No, it's not what you think it is, the
answers just have "poo" somewhere. Steve finds the first
Daily Double under $1200 Historic Documents. With
exactly half of Paulette's leading total, he just says,
"What the heck, let's make it a true Daily Double." The
clue: "1918: No. 2: absolute freedom of navigation upon
the seas, outside territorial waters." Steve... "What is
the... no." It was Wilson's 14 Points, leaving Steve
with nothing. He builds back as Amanda finds the second
Daily Double under $1200 Diseases. She bets $1700 on the
form of pneumonia that first appeared in southeastern
China in November 2002. "What is SARS?" Right on for
$7300 and the lead. She ends the round in the lead with
$9300 to Paulette's $8800. Steve's still in this as well
with $6400.
Final Jeopardy! in
"19th Century Literary Characters": hanged in
an 1837 novel, he so angered some Londoners that his
creator toned him down in future editions. Correct
response: Who was Oliver Twist?
All three are wrong, but
Amanda bets less to become the new Jeopardy! champion
with $5300. Steve leaves with $34,401. |

Let's finish the week on a
high note, shall we? 7800, reveal your events.
What would you do if someone plopped $4100 in your lap
and said, "Spend it all and then some?" Well, that
happened to contestant Connie Irving. She captured a
$2650 Tropica day sailer and went on a Shopping Spree
for a Ridgeway curio clock, a pair of Vision air bikes,
a Ibanez guitar, and Fiesta dinnerware. She took the
clock and the bikes, and left $1006 in her bank. Her
last pick, the dinnerware at $875. Shoulda gone with the
guitar, Connie.
Let's give someone a shot at the clock. Contestant
Laurie McBan, after claiming a $676 set of Ridgid power
tools, cleaned up Clock Game in a short 20 seconds,
claming a Largo International bistro set and an American
Retro Coke machine refrigerator. Bob had to stop the
clock momentarily during the play for the fridge after
Laurie went higher instead of lower. Her total take:
$3374.
Contestant Dustin Brown captured a $949 set of World
Books, and Let 'Em Roll for a Dodge Neon SXT. First
roll: 4 CARs. Does he keep the $1000? Hell, no. He rolls
again for $500, then takes the last roll, and gets the
fifth car. Total take: $16,564.
Contestant Michelle Boggs won the first of many Pulaski
furniture items today, a handpainted chest, valued at
$1395, and got the chance to play Plinko (in the
Hurry-Up spot?!?). She manages to sweep up a coffee pot,
portable radio, gumball laamp, and a handheld chess
computer to take all 5 chips to the top. Her drops
weren't as exciting as her sweep: 100, 1000 twice, 500,
and Zero. Total board take: $2600.
Shuffle Up And Deal! Contestant Shelby Aldridge, after
capturing a 3-piece set of Pathfinder Luggage ($1070),
plays Card Game for a Jeep Wrangler SE. Her difference
card? The bright and shiny $5000 card (complete with
star backdrop!). After only four draws (10 and three
9's), she stops her bid at $15,700. ARP of the Jeep:
$19,850, for a difference of: $4150. The new deck comes
in handy, no? Following that "spectacular" Card Game
win, she manages to win $1000 on the Wheel and moving on
to...
THE SHOWCASES!! Your top winner: Shelby! Your runner-up:
Laurie! Showcase #1 gave up a Pulaski Sorento bedroom
with Springmaid bedding and a Supple-Pedic sleep set
from Strobel, a set of Berlitz language tapes, and a 6
night trip to Spain (accommodations provided by Gran
Hotel Conde Duque). Shelby passes to Laurie. Her bid:
$13,000.
Showcase #2 gave us a peep into the Oval Office, where
the raven-haired President is asking his advisor,
Brandi, for help. To beef up Homeland Security: a
Safenet Security system. The President's Cabinet: a
Pulaski (3rd time today) curio cabinet. His envoy: A GMC
Envoy SLA 2WD. Then, as Brandi goes to sit on the
President's lap, Shelby bids $31,789.
Name
Bid ARP Diff
Shelby 31789 34680 3071 WIN
Laurie 13000 19815 6815
Shelby's total take: $56,780.

Before we begin, a
retraction. Yesterday was not written by me, but written
by Jason. See what happens when you have zero time to
waste? My apologies, Jason. That said, let's Escape to
Friday's show. Chip gets the first tossup. He's from
Massachusetts and a big Red Sox fan. Sandra Middleton
transferred from Chicago to LA, and like Pat, she's a
Cubs fan. We don't know what team Renee Harris of
College Station, TX is a fan of, but in vet school, I
betcha she doesn't have the time to follow.
Tossup #2: PANAMA CANAL
goes to Sandra, as does the $2000 accompanying. Let's
escape to Maui in round 1, a thing. Renee picks up that
wedge for the trip, but can she hold onto it? Chip gets
the no more vowels cue, but it doesn't matter. He solves
A WHIRLWIND ROMANCE for $1700, $2700 total.
Eggland's Best Jackpot
round is a prize puzzle, on the menu. Viewer loyalty is
about to be rewarded. Renee pretty much cleans house as
she solves ROASTED VEGETABLE LASAGNA for $2150 and... a
trip to Italy! And if you have spin ID AN 01706, ciao
Italia to you as well.
A Chevy Aveo is on offer
in the Mystery Round. We're dealing with an occupation.
Chip goes bankrupt, while Sandra misses out on $3500.
Renee gets a $1000 GC from Ticketsnow.com and another
from Blissworld.com. Renee solves PRIME MINISTER OF NEW
ZEALAND for $3100 more in cash and gift cards. So far,
it's all her with $10,950.
Tossup time: we go
around the house here. PLASTIC SPATULA goes to Chip for
$3000. That's one expensive spatula. He gets to start
round 4, phrase, solving THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING for
$3350, giving him $9050 total. Next round, a person.
After Sandra plays it out, it's down to the final spin,
worth $1300. Renee solves TEEN HEARTTHROB for the game
and another $3900, $14,850 total.
Over in Bonus Land,
we're dealing with a rather small LIVING THING. Given
the normal six and BPG O...
S _ _ _N _
... No help. Doesn't
need it. She nails a SKUNK for... a Toyota 4Runner! And
if you're Wheel Watcher #LW 08725, you've got a ride
waiting for you at wheeloffortune.com. |

Yesterday saw a pair of
players walk with $16,000 each. How will today's
player(s) fare?
First up today is Gary Heilig (Eaton Rapids, MI). He
spends some time panning for gold, and one time in
California, he found some. But while cleaning some
clothes in the river, he lost that gold. Ouch. Here's
hoping he doesn't face such bad luck here. Gary starts
by knowing that "infernal regions" and "underworld" are
synonyms for Hell. Soon enough, he has to ask the
audience at the $300 level, to find out that Jack is
also a slang term meaning "a small or worthless amount"
(92% of the studio audience and 86% of the AIM users
gave the right answer). Then, after a few more
questions, including one that asks what part of a
person's body is also known as the thorax (chest), this
$4,000 question pops up...
Held in July 2005, Live 8 was an elaborate ten-concert
event aimed at tackling what critical issue?
A: Global warming
B: Nuclear proliferation
C: African poverty
D: Inequality for women
Gary is sure that it's likely either A or C, but isn't
sure which one to pick, so he uses the 50:50. B and C
remain. That certainly helps, so Gary locks in C as his
final answer... and he's right! Now, for the $8,000
question...
What is the last word of the popular four-line tongue
twister that begins "Peter Piper picked a peck of
pickled peppers"?
A: Picked
B: Peck
C: Pickled
D: Peppers
Gary calls his brother, Tony, who is more than 60% sure
that it's A. But Gary feels that that 60+% isn't good
enough, so he decides to walk. He goes home with $4,000,
but if he had trusted his brother enough, he could have
had more, because it was A!
Let's see if Noel Gonzales (San Diego, CA) can do
better. He is with the Navy, but he had to get special
permission to be in the hot seat, because his squadron
is at sea during this taping. Hopefully, he can make
this worth it by winning a lot of money. Noel begins by
answering that a bartender who asks, "Freshen your
drink?" is offering to pour you more. He moves through
more questions, like one which asks how a substance
changes upon reaching its freezing point (from liquid to
solid), before getting to this one, worth $4,000...
The birth of Mozart, which marks its semiquincentennial
anniversary in 2006, occurred in what year?
A: 1706
B: 1756
C: 1806
D: 1856
Noel asks the audience. 70% of the studio audience says
B, and so does 37% of the AIM users. Noel goes with B...
and they're right! Next up is this question for
$8,000...
In pro basketball, the free throw line is always how
many feet from the backboard?
A: 9
B: 12
C: 15
D: 18
Noel decides to call a family friend, Russ. Russ
apparently asks someone else in the room he's in, and
soon enough, he says he's 80% sure that it's C. Noel
goes with C... and he's up to $8,000!
And that will do it for this week. Noel will return on
Monday to continue playing. |
