Craine (Davida,
Lakeshia, Kameelah, Laneasha, Tashana); $20,000 |
|
Santos
(John, Nancy, Christopher, Jon, Jaime) from Houston |
Will the Craines mess
with Texas for $20,000? We'll find out. Round 1: an
occasion where you know people will say nice things
about you (6). Davida gets #1, birthday. And she just
had one! They also get wedding, but the Santos steal
with funeral for the 68. Other answers: anniversary,
graduation, return from war.
Round 2: 100 men, a
snack that goes well with beer (6). Lakeshia gets nuts,
#2. Nancy gets pizza... #5. Kameelah gets potato chips,
#3. We also gets Buffalo wings and popcorn, but we're
looking for #1... I'm willing to bet that it's pretzels.
So are the Santos... Hey! Santos are up to 118.
Double Round: something
that requires almost constant maintenance (6).
Christopher gets #1 with car, but Kameelah's hair is
also there at #4. Home, yard, pets, and kids round it
out with 292 on the board.
Triple Round: something
people do to pass the time when they're sick at home (4).
Jon's premature buzz in of read is still good for #2,
but Laneasha gets #1, watch TV. The family comes up with
nothing outside of sleep. Can the Santos seal it with
the telephone? No! Other answer: games/puzzles. The
Santos still lead it, 292-282, going into...
Sudden Death: a state
that starts with "W". That's Jaime. Washington... Home
state of Richard Karn.... Number one! Santos win it,
418-282.
Nancy & Christopher take
on Fast Money. Christopher gets #1 for the toughest age
for a teenager (16, Christopher's age), something you
peel (orange), something you shouldn't do after you eat
(swim), and something that bees do (make honey). Nancy
has 26 on her shoulder. Nancy nickels and dimes her way
to the $20,000. She also gets the final number one, a
part of the body a man may think is scrawny (leg). "They
made some honey today." Right on. |

Jason Richards
(pharmacy technician from Old Town, ME); $99,200,
four days |
|
Ted Barnett (physician from Elm Grove, WI) |
|
Melissa Prepster (teacher
from Kyle, TX) |
You know how we do on
the site by now. Today, Jason goes for the screen cap
and the fifth win that comes with it.... or is it the
other way round... Can Ted or Melissa catch the elusive
champion? He starts today with $200 British History. At
the TV time out, it's all about Melissa as she leads it
with $3000 to Ted's $1000. Meanwhile, Jason finds
himself in an unfamiliar place... not just last, but in
negative numbers, -$200 for him.
Melissa gets the Daily
Double under $800 Bestsellers. She goes $1500 on John
Krakauer's "personal account of the Mt. Everest
disaster." "What is 'Into Thin Air'?" Right for $4900.
She ends with $5900 to Jason's $2400. Meanwhile, Dr. Ted
at $1400 will try to operate in Double Jeopardy!...
... as he starts with $400
Around the USA, finding the first Daily Double under the
$2000 level.
With $4200, he bets level with the location of Wilcox
House. "What is Buffalo, NY?" Right for $6200 and the
lead. Melissa finds the second Daily Double under $1600
Greek Gods. She only bets $1000, though, on the goaty
Greek god that gave us an English word for mass terror.
"Who is Pan?" Right for $6900. Jason rebounds with
$18,000, but with Melissa at $9700, it's not a runaway.
Ted is also well in it with $7400.
Final Jeopardy! in
"The King James Bible": a Gospel & a book of
the Old Testament each start with these same 3 words.
Correct response: What is "In the beginning..."?
Ted and Melissa are
right. What about Jason? "What is Song of songs?" Nope.
It ends today. Melissa's your new champ with $19,395,
while Jason leaves with $101,200. She has a week to rest
for her next challenge.
Next week, though, it's
all about the kiddies. |

Best friends Tiqua
(fitness instructor) & Aida
(private banker) |
|
Best
friends Philip (bartender) & Corey
(city clerk) |
Tiqua & Aida start
things off by being FRANK. But the drum is frank with a
red stopper. I suppose it's overdue; we didn't have one
yesterday. Philip & Corey BLESS the board with two
balls. Tiqua & Aida get in SHAPE, in THROB, and in KNOBS
for a Lingo. They lead, 150-25.
The guys get GAUZE and SPOIL to go
to 75 to the Yellows' 150 to end the round.
Round 2, and the guys
had to wait a WHILE for 50, but... "Wah-wah-waaaah!"
That's right, Philip. A stopper. Tiqua & Aida get JEEPS.
Philip & Corey return the favor with PLUGS. Tiqua & Aida
once again return the favor with HEXED. And the red ball
just hexed them. Doesn't matter, though, as Tiqua & Aida
win it, 250-175.
With two Bonus Lingo letters, Tiqua & Aida get AROMA, CHAOS, and
DEBUT for three bills and three balls. Lucky board up, and it's
$10,000 for 43. Gave away $10,000 last time out... Aida gets....
21. Two more chances at $5000. About a one-in-four chance...
Doesn't happen. The girls get $300. |

The
Price is Right by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Host: Bob Barker |

Last one down is the first
one up... That looks familiar. Barry Wolfsheimer takes
an off-road motocross bike, but can he win an LCD TV and
a set of tennis equipment? His game: 2 for the Price of
1. The set up: 8 3
8
$ $ $
2 0 3
(Thanks to G-R.net!)
Barry takes the second number for free. It's 3. He goes
$833 for the tennis equipment. But he was $5 off. It was
$838.
#4 is the hot spot for
the second half, as we get all three on stage from
there. The one to face Barry in the Showcase, though, is
Margaret Love. She takes four girl guitars/basses, but
ends up with a trash compactor in Any Number. She
could've had a Ford Focus.
Not a good day today,
either. No one gets any Ws. This better be a kick-ass
Showcase. Barry gets... ants. They complain about
portable ice chests, hot tubs, and pontoon party barges.
Barry bids $21,500, a difference of $1752. Tough to
beat; can Margaret do it? She tags a bedroom with
mattress set and bedding, four backpacks, and a trailer
at $15,000. Actual price: $19,213. Barry wins it with
$26,316.
Other winners:
Robert Larrabee: curio cabinet, $4000 playing Let'em
Roll
Natalia Benenson: his & hers watches
Cynthia "Hugs from Ohio" Hemmergarn: elliptical trainer
Mary Burgess: dinette
STATS: 0/6, $39,925, and
over $1 million to date this season. |

Trato
Hecho by
Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: 12p ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |
|
We start off today with The
Lottery! What's the lottery? There is a board of 12
items. There are 5 cards on the side board. If you
should twice pick a card on the side board that matches
the 12 cards on the stage, you win! What do you win? A
new living room with glass tables worth $1,603!
Gladys the gypsy woman selects the red card. Juan the
Elvis Impersonator selects green, and and Lydia the
fruit girl gets the blue card. Gladys picks...the hand,
which is on the board, so she can continue. Lydia
gets...the bottle which is also on the board, so she can
continue. Elvis has heartbreak, because his card doesn't
match the board, so he sits down with $100.
Gladys and Lydia get 2 more cards. Once again, Gladys
picks the red card and Lydia gets the blue card. Gladys
has an opportunity to bail with the large box, but she
doesn't want to do that - and she turns down appliances
from Con Air worth $300. Lydia has the choice of a small
box - which she wants. What does she get - a pair of
nice watches worth $600, which is a good deal. Gladys
makes a better deal - because her card is on the board
and she wins the living room!
Next up - another gypsy woman by the name of Elizabeth.
She has a choice - the Trato Hecho magic shoebox or
curtain #1. Elizabeth wants toe curtain and does not
want the shoebox. Do we have shoes in there? No - we
have a $1,000 certificate to Home Depot! Instead, she
gets the 3 amigos - or should I say, 3 sombreros, 2
dummies and one dancing Chasco, complete with maracas.
Who wants to price some items? Eduardo the newspaper
hobo and Patricia the schoolgirl do. Here's how this
works - the couple will start with $50 and will get $200
for each product should they correctly guess if the
price listed is right or wrong (Think Price is Right's 5
Price Tags). Is the Derman Liquid $3.69? They say it
isn't. The Price is...$3.69. No money for them. Next
product - Is the Derman Deodorant Powder $3.19? They say
it isn't. The Price is...$3.19 and they are 0 for 2.
Final product - Is the Vitacilina $3.99? They say it is
True and the price is...$2.99. The price is wrong, which
matches the couple - they are wrong all 3 times and only
have $50. Guillermo offers them Curtain #2 for $50, and
of course, they take it. They receive a washer/dryer
worth $1,098! not bad for stinking up the joint.
It's Gran Trato time, and the two players are
Eduardo/Patricia and Lydia (Gladys decided that she
wanted to keep the Living Room). The couple want door #1
and Lydia wants door #3, but we'll see door #2 first, as
no one gets $850. Someone will be getting a new living
room with tables worth $2,303. That someone is...Lydia,
which means that Patricia and Eduardo get the Gran Trato.
Today, it's a trip to Aruba, and when they come back,
they will be greeted with a refrigerator, a dishwasher
and a stove. Total value of this is...$5,597, which is
the largest one that I've seen in a while. Turn in
tomorrow to see if the Gran Trato will get any larger... |

We wrap up Safari So Good
Week with a BLACK-EYED SUSAN for Tom "Wizzer" Carlock,
an IT veep from Bogota, NJ. Joining him are nanny/grad
student Amanda Willis from KC and maternity home manager
Consuella Hilton from DC. Second tossup: TONY THE TIGER
is gr-r-r-reat for Tom as he starts round 1 with $3000.
Africa is on the offing
in this round. The category: place. Tom & Amanda share
control of the Wheel here, but it's Consuella who comes
up with FAMILY STYLE RESTAURANT for $2000.
The BrandSource Jackpot
puzzle (it's also a Prize Puzzle, and you know what that
means) is a phrase. Consuella gets a nice chunk of
change out of two R's. She solves WITHOUT A CARE IN THE
WORLD for $10,050. But what could that possibly mean?
That's how she'll feel on her vacation in Puerto Rico!
And you can join her if you have spin ID MW11217 and 24
hours to go to wheeloffortune.com. She's up to $19,190.
Ten large up for grabs
in the Mystery Round. Occupation is the category... And
it's quite an occupation; only 11 green spaces on the
puzzle board. Consuella holds the Wheel for quite a
while, getting $10,000-plus and a Coleman gift tag in
the process. She solves EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF A
NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION for $10,300. So far, $30,490.
Tossup #3: Wizzer gets
$3000 from CELLAR DWELLER. He's three for three. Next
puzzle: a thing. Tom controls the Wheel for some time
until we have two letters remaining. And wouldn't you
know it, it's time for the Final Spin. I'm pretty sure
those are consonants, and each one is worth $1300.
Amanda wins that much with INSTANT HAND SANITIZER. Tom
wins $6000, but it's all about Consuella, as she heads
over to the Bonus Wheel.
Category: PHRASE. After
the usual six and GMB A, we get....
_ _ _ E -
_ _ _ _
Say WIDE-AWAKE... She
didn't. She loses $30,000, but she won that much and
then some, $30,490. |

Who

Yesterday, Marilyn Fagen
(Clifton Park, NY) climbed up to the $8,000 level, with
2 lifelines remaining. Today, she's looking for more.
It is once again mentioned that when she gets married,
her married last name will be Monroe. Hey, it could have
been worse, as Marilyn then says she's happy that the
last name won't be Manson. No need to dwell on that for
long, as the game resumes with Marilyn calling her son's
girlfriend, Robin, to find out that in the song "Hollaback
Girl," Gwen Stefani repeatedly spells out the word
"bananas". Now, for the 4th time in a row, the
contestant reaches the $25,000 question, and the last 3
times, the contestant got it wrong. Let's see if Marilyn
can get a different result with this...
On September 2, 1945, Japan formally surrendered to the
U.S. on the deck of what battleship?
A: USS Missouri
B: USS Wisconsin
C: USS Alabama
D: USS Iowa
Marilyn has no idea, so she uses the 50:50, which leaves
A and D. But although she has an inkling that it could
be A, Marilyn won't do what the last 3 contestants did
at this level; Marilyn is walking. She could have had
the $25,000 if she went with A, though, because that was
the right answer. But at least she'll be heading home
with $16,000.
The next contestant is Gigi Brienza (Princeton, NJ), and
she's rather nervous. In fact, she asks for some gum,
which she says calms her down. She'll have to do without
it at first, though, as they get going with her knowing
that in diners, the Thanksgiving sandwich usually
features cranberry sauce, gravy, and turkey. (BTW, it
just so happens that Canada is celebrating Thanksgiving
this Monday.) Gigi moves along just fine, answering a
few more questions, then asking the audience at the
$1,000 question, which asks what brand of candy
introduced Strawz, which are edible straws. 84% of the
studio audience and 77% of the AIM users pick Twizzlers,
and Gigi goes with them, which gets her to $1,000. Then,
along comes this question for $2,000...
Which of these numbers has a square root that is a whole
number?
A: 34
B: 35
C: 36
D: 37
Being a Math guy, I knew this one right away. But Gigi
doesn't know, so she uses the 50:50, leaving A and C.
After some consideration, she goes for it (nothing to
lose at this level) and says C... and the square root of
36 is 6, which means she's right! Another question
later, and this comes up, worth $8,000...
The distinctive hairstyle known as the "mullet" shares
its name with a type of what animal?
A: Bird
B: Fish
C: Snake
D: Rodent
Gigi just goes with her gut and says D... but it's B!
Aw, darn it. But at least she does get $1,000.
Now, it's time for Bill Euler (Deer Park, NY) to take a
shot at climbing the proverbial ladder. He had served
the NYPD for 20 years, but he's now retired, and now he
likes to travel the world with his wife. He begins by
knowing that when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, it
is customary to face the U.S. flag. Along the way, Bill
answers questions such as one which asks what game show
replaced its turntable letters with 52 touch-sensitive
monitors in 1997 (Wheel of Fortune, of course). Soon
enough, he gets to this $4,000 question...
In 2005, Mick Jagger denied widespread rumors that the
single "Sweet Neo Con" is about what person?
A: Queen Elizabeth II
B: George W. Bush
C: Osama bin Laden
D: The Pope
Bill asks the audience, and 70% of the studio audience
says B, while the AIM poll is closer, though B is still
in front with 36%. Bill goes with B... and they're
right!
And that'll do it for this week. Bill will be back on
Monday. |
