Craine (Davida,
Lakeshia, Kameelah, Laneasha, Tashana) |
|
Contreras (Raffie,
Lucy, Annie, John, Aline); $1655, two days |
Nickname du jour: the
teddy bear of all game show hosts... this from Davida. Round 1:
something teenagers can do for hours on end (6). Raffie
plays the video games for #1. We also talk on the phone,
watch TV, listen to music, and shop. Can the Craines
steal with party? Up there! The challengers get 88.
Round 2: past or
present, a specific ride at Disneyland or Disney World (7).
Lucy gets Small World for #2. Now this was a field trip
at GSC4, so we should know what #1 is. Annie gets
Pirates of the Caribbean, #5. John gets the Matterhorn,
#7. Lucy gets #1, Space Mountain (about time!). The
Craines go with Mad Hatter for the steal. Nope. The
Contreras get 63. Other answers: Tower of Terror, Tea
Party/Cups, The Rocket/Jets. Notice Millionaire Play It
wasn't there. What's up with that? :)
Double Round: an animal
that starts with "R" (5). Annie's raccoon beats
Kameelah's rat, 3 to 4. Aline's wabbit gets number one,
though. Rhino and... number 5 round out the board. Is it
reindeer? Not there, Contreras up to 257. Other answer:
roadrunner.
Triple Round: something
you better show up on time for (4). John gets #1 with
work. School and weddings also make the survey. Can the
Craines steal the game with a court appearance? Got it!
The Craines win, 319-257.
Cousins Davida &
Lakeshia take on the Fast Money board. Davida gets #1
from a food that is yellow (banana) for 131. Can
Lakeshia get the other 69? I think so... Lakeisha
gets a time when most people wake up in the morning (6a)
for the money!

Jason Richards
(pharmacy technician from Old Town, ME); $78,800,
three days |
|
Helen Kaluzny (freelance
broadcast journalist from Waterloo, ON) |
|
Brendan Beier (graduate
student orig. from Pleasantville, NY) |
Today, Jason goes for
win #4, as he starts with $200 All Of Our Stone. The
other categories, just for fun: When You Get the Money,
You Get the Power..., Then You Get the Women, Scarface,
and Tony Montana. But back to the money, as Jason finds
the early Daily Double under $800. In the lead by $600,
Jason goes $1500 on the widow of a 1981 plane crash who
inherited $500 million. "Who is Teresa Heinz Kerry?"
Right for $4100 going into the break again Helen's $2000
and Brendan's $1600. Jason would end with that much, but
Helen makes a play for first with $4800. Meanwhile,
Brendan with $3000 starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Pictures
at an Exhibition.
Jon gives Jason the first Daily Double, a video under
$1200 On the Battlefield, worth $3500. "A landing by
Australian and New Zealand forces was driven back by
future Turkish leader Adda Turk in this World War I
battle." "What is Gallipoli?" Correct for $9200! Jason
gets another Daily Double under $1200 Pictures At An
Exhibition. He goes only $4000... Heh, only $4000....
"Also the title of a 2003 film, it's the famous work
from around 1665 seen here?" "What is the Girl With the
Pearl Earring?" Correct for $30,400. He ends with that
much, as Helen will at $2800 and Brendan at $7400.
Final Jeopardy! in
"Publications": in 1889 a daily New York News
summary called the "Customers' Afternoon Letter" became
this publication. Correct response: What is the Wall
Street Journal?
Helen doubles up.
Brendan scribbles and hopes.... nope. But Readers'
Digest costs the champ $10,000. Still enough to give him
the W, though, with $20,400, $99,200 for four days. |

TOOTH, and the Lingo, giving them 150.
Based & Solange finally get the

They have 75. They steal STARS afterwards. Grant & Brad return the
favor with AHEAD. And apparently no man makes Shandi feel
inadequate... I betcha I can give it a go. =p End of the round and
the score favors the yellows, 175-100.
Round 2 coming as Basem
& Solange GROWL, and Basem YELLS for 100 and the lead.
They go to a DINER for another 50, and their board is
just about covered here. The ? ball gives them the Lingo

Grant & Brad have a
chance to catch up. Doesn't happen, though. Basem &
Solange get EVERY to win, 400-175.

The
Price is Right by Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |

Last one down at the top of
the show is the first one up on stage as Leah Brookman
takes a floor clock. Now all she has to do is crack a
really big safe for a trip to Puerto Vallarta and a
weather station. The numbers...
0 6 7
She sets the dials at
$670... but the weather station was $760. We also
would've accepted a hammer or a blowtorch or a lockpick...
Actually, I can't verify the validity of those guesses.
I'll have to talk to Travis later. But I can verify that
she won $1000 on the Big Wheel as well as a place in the
Showcase.
She'll face Giovanna
Maimone there. She wins a tennis bracelet after figuring
that just under a carat of diamonds is worth about
$1500. I guess it's a woman thing. She has a chance at a
cotton candy cart, a telescope, a day bed with mattress,
and a home gym. Time to Take Two. The target: $3059. The
first two: the cart at $1408 and the gym at $1999. Way
over. She goes with the cart and the telescope at $649.
Way under. Should've gone with the home gym and the day
bed.
Showcase time, and we're
haunted by the spirit of that gym from earlier, as we
visit the El Rippo Gym, where a "slightly incompetent
trainer" gives out a range, a replica gas pump, and a
Buick LeSabre. Leah passes to Giovanna (wha?), who bids
$25,500, a difference of $5144. Leah, instead of getting
a car, gets a boat... as in the one that pulls up to
Port O'Price. On said boat: an LCD TV, a bar set, and
two motorcycles. Leah bids $21,000.... way over the
$13,842 asking price. Giovanna wins it with $32,194 in
prizes.
Not really a good day at
33... in fact, the only W posted was from a fellow aptly
named Will Price IV. Winning an area rug, Will also
negotiates Squeeze Play to take a computer and armoire.
Others:
Ian Bereton: washer/dryer; grill, sound machine,
mini-fridge and $500 playing Punch-a-Bunch
Helene Gold: water towables
Ronny Edwards, Sr.: stereo; $5000 playing Pass the Buck
STATS: 1/6, $51,321, and
one fake muscle suit. |

Trato
Hecho by
Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: 12p ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |
|
We start off today with The
Lottery! What's the lottery? There is a board of 12
items. There are 5 cards on the side board. If you
should twice pick a card on the side board that matches
the 12 cards on the stage, you win! What do you win? A
new living room with glass tables worth $1,603!
Gladys the gypsy woman selects the red card. Juan the
Elvis Impersonator selects green, and and Lydia the
fruit girl gets the blue card. Gladys picks...the hand,
which is on the board, so she can continue. Lydia
gets...the bottle which is also on the board, so she can
continue. Elvis has heartbreak, because his card doesn't
match the board, so he sits down with $100.
Gladys and Lydia get 2 more cards. Once again, Gladys
picks the red card and Lydia gets the blue card. Gladys
has an opportunity to bail with the large box, but she
doesn't want to do that - and she turns down appliances
from Con Air worth $300. Lydia has the choice of a small
box - which she wants. What does she get - a pair of
nice watches worth $600, which is a good deal. Gladys
makes a better deal - because her card is on the board
and she wins the living room!
Next up - another gypsy woman by the name of Elizabeth.
She has a choice - the Trato Hecho magic shoebox or
curtain #1. Elizabeth wants toe curtain and does not
want the shoebox. Do we have shoes in there? No - we
have a $1,000 certificate to Home Depot! Instead, she
gets the 3 amigos - or should I say, 3 sombreros, 2
dummies and one dancing Chasco, complete with maracas.
Who wants to price some items? Eduardo the newspaper
hobo and Patricia the schoolgirl do. Here's how this
works - the couple will start with $50 and will get $200
for each product should they correctly guess if the
price listed is right or wrong (Think Price is Right's 5
Price Tags). Is the Derman Liquid $3.69? They say it
isn't. The Price is...$3.69. No money for them. Next
product - Is the Derman Deodorant Powder $3.19? They say
it isn't. The Price is...$3.19 and they are 0 for 2.
Final product - Is the Vitacilina $3.99? They say it is
True and the price is...$2.99. The price is wrong, which
matches the couple - they are wrong all 3 times and only
have $50. Guillermo offers them Curtain #2 for $50, and
of course, they take it. They receive a washer/dryer
worth $1,098! not bad for stinking up the joint.
It's Gran Trato time, and the two players are
Eduardo/Patricia and Lydia (Gladys decided that she
wanted to keep the Living Room). The couple want door #1
and Lydia wants door #3, but we'll see door #2 first, as
no one gets $850. Someone will be getting a new living
room with tables worth $2,303. That someone is...Lydia,
which means that Patricia and Eduardo get the Gran Trato.
Today, it's a trip to Aruba, and when they come back,
they will be greeted with a refrigerator, a dishwasher
and a stove. Total value of this is...$5,597, which is
the largest one that I've seen in a while. Turn in
tomorrow to see if the Gran Trato will get any larger... |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by
Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira |

Yesterday, Ken Blundell
(Kansas City, MO) got himself to $1,000. Can he get far
enough to add a few more 0s to the end of that total?
At the University of Missouri, Ken likes to tease his
students. One time, on the first day of class, he acted
as a student at first, getting the students to talk bad
about their professor. Then, he reveals himself to them
as their professor! Talk about a cruel joke... Anyway,
he's originally from England, and when the game resumes,
the next question happens to ask what the term
"Oxbridge" is used to refer collectively to in England!
Coincidence? Well, naturally, Ken knows that it's the 2
best-known universities. After that, this $4,000
question shows up...
In a popular series of TV ads, women have "a totally
organic experience" while noisily doing what?
A: Washing dishes
B: Brushing their teeth
C: Mopping the floor
D: Shampooing their hair
[Geez, I've seen enough of those commercials up here in
Canada to make me wish I could forget them. But I
digress.]
Ken doesn't know enough about this, so he asks the
audience. And boy, do they ever come through! An
astonishing 97% of the studio audience goes with D, and
a not-so-astonishing-but-still-impressive 86% of the AIM
poll concurs. So Ken goes with D, and is right! On to
the $8,000 question...
On earth, a solar eclipse can only occur when the moon
is in what phase?
A: Half-moon
B: New moon
C: Waning crescent
D: Waxing crescent
Ken uses the 50:50, which leaves B and C. He then goes
with B... and it's B! Now, you may recall that
yesterday, it was mentioned that Ken likes to gamble.
Well, that's what he does on the $16,000 question, and
it pays off, as he correctly guesses that one of
Canada's most popular cocktails, made from clamato juice
and vodka, is called the "Bloody Caesar". With that, he
sees this for $25,000...
Giacomo, the surprise 2005 Kentucky Derby winner, was
named after the son of what rock star?
A: David Bowie
B: Bono
C: Mick Jagger
D: Sting
And coming out of a commercial break, Ken was just
talking about gambling on a horserace before seeing this
question. Coincidence #2? Well, that doesn't exactly
help with this question, so he calls a longtime friend
of his, Tim. But Tim is unable to come up with a
response in time. This leaves Ken with a tough decision,
but eventually, he decides to gamble again and says B...
but the gamble didn't work out this time! It's D! That's
the third time in a row that someone missed the $25,000
question! Oh well, at least Ken gets $1,000 for his
efforts.
Could Marilyn Fagen (Clifton Park, NY) do better? Her
fiancé, Mark, is in the audience, and when they get
married, she'll inherit the married surname Monroe.
Marilyn Monroe. Yeah. Anyway, it's interesting that
they're talking about marriage, as the first question on
Marilyn's road to a possible million asks what the
common phrase "ball and chain" is jokingly used to refer
to. Coincidence #3? And yes, she knows that the answer
is a spouse. After that, Marilyn breezes through some
more questions, including one that asks what activity,
by definition, a "double agent" engages in (espionage).
Soon enough, she gets this for $4,000...
According to legend, what author got the name for his
famous fictional land from a file cabinet drawer labeled
"O-Z"?
A: C.S. Lewis
B: L. Frank Baum
C: Lewis Carroll
D: J.R.R. Tolkien
Marilyn asks the audience, and 61% of the studio
audience and 40% of the AIM users say B. She goes with
the audience... who is right! She then makes it through
another question to reach $8,000...
..before time runs out for today. Marilyn will be back
in the hot seat tomorrow. |
