Cloesmeyer
(Marie, Joanne, Ronnie, Jeff, Ron) from New York |
|
Killinger
(Kirk, Jennifer, Dawn, Lesley, Diane); $20,845,
two days |
The Killingers are
trying to send the Cloesmeyers back to New York. Round
1: something people fall out of (6). Marie fires with
#2, bed. Kirk gets the number one, love. Also making the
board: an airplane, car, couch... but the Cloesmeyers
try to steal 87 with window. Not there. The Killingers
get 87. Other answer: boat.
Round 2: if you were
told to evacuate the house immediately, the first thing
you would grab (6). Jennifer gets #2, the kids. Joanne
gets #4, photos. Dawn gets #3, pets. Can the Cloesmeyers
snatch the points with "wallets"? Documents were said...
but wallet's number one for 48! Other answers: clothes,
documents/papers.
Double Round: 100
married women asked a place where your husband spends so
much time, he might as well live there (full board).
Dawn gets #1, work, because Ronnie prematurely buzzed.
Also on the board: bar, garage, and bathroom. Marie
thinks that the gym is up there... It ain't. Killingers
have 205. Other answers: golf course (said), basement.
Triple Round: something
around the house that you empty (4). Lesley gets #1, the
trash. Dishwasher's also up there, but it goes to the
challengers, who try with refrigerator. Not there, the
Killlingers win it, 475-48. Other answer: ashtray
(said), ice cube tray.
Diane & Kirk try for
another $20,000 in Fast Money. She gets the number one
on the longest time you've been on hold (15 minutes) and
something you might see right outside a supermarket
(baskets). She gets 89. Kirk gets the number one for a
product you buy for the bathroom (toilet roll), but it
isn't to be. And you learn something new every day...
Apparently four people think you see picketers outside a
supermarket. In any case, another $655 goes into the
family bank, giving them $21,500 for three days.

Andy Rosenberg (sales
manager from Morristown, NJ); $13,000 |
|
Jeanie Kyle (student
orig. from
Conway, AR) |
| Tom
Streit (real
estate lawyer from Jupiter, FL) |
Andy inherits the
champion gloves, and he'll use them to fight Jeanie and
Tom. Andy starts with $200 Roadside America. We go to
$800 Elementary, My Dear for the Daily Double. Jeanie my
dear bets the full $1000 on the two most abundant
elements dissolved in seawater. "What are sodium and
chlorine?" That's right for the tie with Tom, giving her
$1200. The tie would last almost the entire round as Tom
broke away with $2800 to Jeanie's $1800 at the half.
Andy once again breaking away from the pack early at
$7000, but it's the student who opens Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400 ... And
Twins! (the earlier category was "We Love Football on
TV"... here's to love songs), finding the Daily Double,
the first of two, under $800 All The World's a Stage.
Jeanie fronts $1200 on the playwright of Nicomaco in "Clizia". "Ungh...
Florentine... Who is Michelangelo?" Not right.
Nicomaco is Niccolo Machiavelli, leaving her with $2600.
Andy finally finds a Daily Double under $2000 Long
Words. He bets $3000 on "13 letters: a journey by foot,
not falcon." "Don't know." It was a peregrination,
leaving Andy still in the lead with $13,600. He ends the
game in the same way with $16,800. Tom has $5200, while
Jeanie has $600.
Final Jeopardy! in
"The 1980s": on May 18, 1980, its height was
reduced from 9677 feet to 8364 feet. Correct response: What
is Mount St. Helens?
Jeanie and Tom are
right, but Andy can't be caught. Sure he had a brain
fart, but he had enough cash to lock in the victory. And
he does so with $15,800, giving him a second-day total
of $28,800. |

Lingo by
Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 7p ET/6p CT on GSN
Host: Chuck Woolery |
|
Yesterday wasn't as scary as
Monday... something about red balls. Anyway, it's time to shuffle
up and deal with "Poker Royale: Pros vs. Hosts" on Lingo!
|
Hosts Lisa Dergan (playing for
Alzheimer's) & John Ahlers (playing for Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of Orange County) |
|
Pros
Kathy Liebert (playing for Habitat for Humanity)
& Kenna James (playing for Elma House of
Monroe, MI) |
Hmm... so THAT's what
John Ahlers looks like. He and Lisa start it off with an
S, but it SWINGs Kathy & Kenna's way. Lias & John return
the favor with CHIPS. Kathy & Kenna re-return the favor
with FUDGE, but Kenna comes up red. They get the draw
back with DEALT and the Lingo. They lead, 125-25, but
they get another 25 from GREED, Chuck. Looks like
Kenna's a fan. They follow with TOPIC and another red
ball as they lead it, 175-25 at the half.
Look out for the new season of
Poker Royale next Friday at 10p ET. Now to round 2. Lisa &
John get an A... for effort, because Kenna gets ANKLE. He Lingos
and loses his hat, giving the Reds 325 to the Yellows' anemic 25.
Lisa & John get BADGE and finally Lingo for 175 to 325. Kathy &
Kenna get QUEEN, but Kathy draws red. Lisa gets LATCH on the first
shot. Doesn't matter, though, as they win it, 375-225. Lisa & John
donate a grand each for their charities.
With four letters in
Bonus Lingo (one for winning the game, two for each
Lingo, and one because this is a charity game), Kathy &
Kenna get STUDY, GREET, WAXED, PANDA, AWFUL, FOLDS,
COMBS, and LINEN for eight. That's worth $800 and eight
balls. A 44 will get them $10,000. Kenna's feeling
lucky.. but he gets a bad break, 54... Kathy makes up
for it with the Lingo for $5000.
And speaking of bad breaks, two
Ballbreakers champs take on two Ballbreakers hosts next time. |

The
Price is Right by Travis Schario, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |
|
Another slow day at 7800.
Here's what happened:
Contestant Kathy McCree, after snagging a Beach Baracuda
Water Bike ($1595), had a $2100 limit to work with in
Credit Card. Her first two purchases, $266 country music
CD's and $255 Ebonite Bowling Equipment, she seemed to
be free-wheeling...until she took the Corsican daybed
valued at $1794. Over she went, and the day starts out 0
for 1.
Act 2 featured an HMS Victory model ship, valued at
$999, captured by contestant Kyle Gelia (sic). His game:
Pocket ¢hange for a Buick LeSabre Custom sedan. After
only making two mistakes, taking the car up to 75¢, he
drew a 50¢ envelope and won the car, valued at $27,831.
The only other win came in the next act. Contestant
Joseph Carver, fellow Ohio University Bobcat and
Marching 110 Drummer, captured an Intimate Gardener
rocker, valued at $810, and a trip to Mazatlan in
Squeeze Play (initial setup: 2 7 9 2 3), valued at
$2923.
The other shine of today's show was contestant Ann
Barkey's (sic) perfect bid of $575 on a Tee & Cue pool
and golf combo table. Her game: Master Key for a PT
Cruiser, Howard Miller floor clock, and Air-Way
cookware. She only won one key, with a $21 Libman
cleaning package. After trying the key in all three
locks, she knew she drew the Dud Key and won nothing but
her mop and brush.
In the Showcases, Kyle and Grand Game bust-out
contestant Ingrid Garred. Kyle was hoping to get a boat
in a Showcase. Instead, in the first Showcase, he bid on
a collection of hot sauces, a big screen TV, and a
Chrysler Sebring convertible. His bid: $32,350.
Ingrid's Showcase, showcasing "Failed Retail Chains"
gave us gardening equipment from "Abercrombie & Ditch,"
a new range from "Best Fry," and a Fleetwood Pioneer
180CK trailer from "The Nap." Her bid, after some
deliberation with the Peanut Gallery: $29,500.
Unfortunately, to go with the losing theme of today's
show (outside of Pocket ¢hange and Squeeze Play), both
Kyle and Ingrid overbid. Bob took his second trip to the
audience of the 34th season today, and Rich, in his
chocolate brown suit, fraternized with the Beauties.
STATS: 2,6; $36,979 |

Stump
the Schwab by
Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 1:30a ET/12:30a CT on ESPN2
Hosts: Stuart Scott & Howie Schwab |
|
This is just one of those
things you don't know about until someone close to you
e-mails you about it, but it's the third season of
Pittsburgh jersey Schwabby goodness.
|
Adam Wallach (media buyer; New York City) |
| Vik
Dalvi (recent MBA graduate; Culver City, CA) |
|
Micah Hart (improv comedian in training,
Atlanta) |
We start with Leading
Off, as we always do. First things first: the 16 NFC
starting quarterbacks from Opening Game 2005. Adam's
done at 1. Vik, Micah, and the Schwab sweep the rest
with 5 each. Then up: the 12 players on the Utah Jazz
'98 NBA Finals roster. Vik and Micah are done at 2,
giving them 7 each. Adam is stalled at 3, giving him 1.
The Schwab... in the lead with 9. Final Leading Off: the
first 16 men inducted as players into the Baseball Hall
of Fame. Adam is done at 1 and done for the game with
only 5. Vik blacks out at 3, giving him 9. Micah has 4
for 10. Schwab is also out with 13.
From Leading Off, we go
to Dodge the Schwab, where players can either one of six
answer regular questions for 1 point or one of two
Schwab-level questions for 2. You can either answer a
Schwab or dodge it and pass it on, but if you get the
question wrong, you lose a point. Landon Donovan is the
first of the two Schwabs. He'll take it. He'll take it
and run with it, matching the player with the San Jose
Earthquakes of the MLS, giving him 2. Micah finds the
second Schwab under Gordie Howe. He'll take it, having
to ID the WHA team of Gordie, Mark, and Marty Howe from
1973 to 1977. The Hartford Whalers... wrong. It was the
Houston Aeros, giving Vik the lead, 4-0... and the $1000
big prize, not to mention a seat against the Schwab
in...
The Schwab Showdown. Vik
says that he could "beat down the Schwab." We'll see, as
he goes for another $5000 and a spot in the semi-final
on the road to 50 grand. The categories this time: One
Shining Moment (men's Final Four one-timers), You
Complete Me (complete baseball games), Men of Steel (the
Steelers), and Suit Up (uniforms & equipment). While
we're reminded that the Schwab can't sing "One Shining
Moment". Schwab gets his first strike on the 2-pointer
in You Complete Me, having to answer two Blue Jay
hurlers from 1997 (Roger Clemens & Pat Hinckley). Hugh
Durham's '83 squad gives Vik his first strike in 2-point
One Shining Moment (Georgia). Thirty complete games in a
season gives the Schwab his second strike. Vik passes
Suit Up for 3, but Schwab passes it back. Vik gets
another strike. Next wrong answer is a loss. Vik gives
Schwab Men of Steel for 3.
Question: Before
changing their name to the Steelers in the early 1940s,
what was the original nickname of Pittsburgh's NFL
franchise? "Steegles" Night, Schwab. That's three.
You're out. Vik wins the $5000, $6000 total. BTW:
correct answer: Pittsburgh Pirates. We'll see Vik later
in the season |

Trato
Hecho by
Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: 12p ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |
|
|
Juan & Melinda and Claudia
& Miguel are both couples - and they both get selected
by Guillermo to play the first game of the day. Both
couples get $50 from Guillermo - and are told that they
can win more if they are closer to pricing the following
products - Turtle Wax, Rust-Oleum auto Primer and Quaker
State Motor Oil. We're not getting a car motif here, are
we? Anyways, $300 goes to the winner of each item. The
Turtle Wax...Juan - $9.00, Miguel - $5.00 and the price
is...$4.98, so $300 to Miguel. Now for the Rust-Oleum...Miguel
- $3.00, Juan - $5.00 and the price is...$3.54, so
another $300 to Miguel. Finally, the Morot Oil...Juan -
$3.00, Miguel - $1.50 and the price is...$1.74, so Juan
gets all $900 for a total of $950, while Juan has a
paltry $50. Now
that the men have gotten the money, the women can decide
to spend it. Melinda can spend the $50 on Curtain #3,
which of course she does... but she gets a Stuffed
Donkey carrying a ChascoAlien dragging a cardboard
saucer. Does Claudia want to spend her $950 on Curtain
#2? She does not, and she misses out on a $1,199
refrigerator and a $500 SmartCash Card. Still, $950 is a
nice total.
We get a quick visit to
the Trato Hecho Cash Register with Rigo. The register
has 5 buttons. If he finds the one that has $1, he will
win a sofa/TV combo worth $1,149. Rigo selects button
#3, which isn't $1, but it is $500, which is a nice
prize. The magic $1 was under button #4.
No more cash registers,
but we have a brown stuffed gorilla and a pink stuffed
gorilla. Carlos gets to select one, and whatever gorilla
he doesn't want goes to Socorro. Carlos wants the pink
one, which is his, unless he wants $400. He doesn't, and
instead he gets what's under the Gorilla, which says
BOX, and in the Box is a...beauty sculpture with the
head cut out for a Chasco! Socorro is offered $400, but
she wants the Gorilla, which is connected to an envelope
that has...$1,000! A very bouncy Socorro grabs the money
and is thrilled.
Will she be even more
thrilled with the Gran Trato? She will be, as she goes
for it. Joining her will not be Claudia and Miguel, as
they keep the $950. Rigo wants to go for it and gives
back the $500. Socorro wants door #2 while Rigo wants
door #3. We start with door...#2, as Socorro trades down
to $700. Next up is door #3, is Rigo gets an armoire
with TV worth $2,023. That's nice, but not as nice as
bags, luggage, watches and a trip to Puerto Vallarta
worth $4,050, which was the Gran Trato for today. Well,
if it makes you feel better, Rigo, I would have
preferred the armoire. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by
Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Last time, we had someone
who ended up with just $1,000. Can the next contestant
do better?
Her name is Beth Zoller (Livingston, NJ). She is a
fast-talking lawyer who gave birth to twins 14 weeks
before this taping. And during her pregnancy, she
watched this show. Can she fast-talk her way to a
million dollars? Beth begins by knowing that someone who
adds alcohol to the punch bowl at a high school dance is
spiking it. She has a good run, moving through questions
such as one which asks who has the authority to issue a
"gag order" upon the media (a judge), and one which asks
what holograms, 3-D images found on some credit cards,
are usually created with (lasers). Then, along comes
this one for $8,000...
Which of these misspelled adjectives is not also the
stage name of a best-selling hip-hop artist?
A: Fabolous
B: Mystikal
C: Xkwizit
D: Ludacris
Beth asks the audience, and 49% of the studio audience
says C, while 46% of the AIM users agree. Beth goes with
them... and they're right! Moving on to this $16,000
question...
What pasta's name literally means "little turnips" in
Italian?
A: Tagliatelle
B: Ravioli
C: Fettuccine
D: Manicotti
Beth reasons why she won't use the 50:50 at this point,
before making the decision to call her friend Steve. Her
fast-talking allows for plenty of time for Steve to come
up with an answer, and he's about 80% sure that it's B.
Beth trusts him and says B... and it's B! She then gets
this question, worth $25,000...
Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade mysteries are set in the
seamy underside of what U.S. city?
A: Chicago
B: New York City
C: Los Angeles
D: San Francisco
Before making a decision, Beth says that she has a
feeling that it's A. But she's not sure enough, so she
uses the 50:50. Guess what? A is removed, and so is B.
Good thing she didn't just go for it. With that, Beth
has no idea, so she walks. The answer was D, but $16,000
is a good amount of money for a day's work.
Getting the next shot in the hot seat is Michelle Duran
(New York, NY), and she happens to be 8 months pregnant
during the taping. She is due to give birth to a baby
boy about 6 weeks after. Michelle's road to a possible
million starts by knowing that in a nursery rhyme,
"Mary, Mary, quite contrary" is asked "How does your
garden grow?" After that, she also moves along quite
well, knowing, among other things, that it's Toblerone
that is famous for its triangular-shaped packages. Soon
enough, though, she gets this $4,000 question...
Operated by Google, Froogle is a search engine
specifically designed to help you do what?
A: Make new friends
B: Find jobs
C: Write term papers
D: Shop
Michelle has an idea, but she asks the audience, just to
be safe. 74% of the studio audience and 71% of the AIM
users go with D. Good enough for Michelle, who was
leaning toward D, and is now going with it... and it's
right!
That's it for today. Michelle will return tomorrow for
more. |
