Amber, Toi, Donna, John); $1735, two days |
|
Chick (Dan, Vanessa, Dave, Brittany, Chad) |
It's Uncle Dan versus
the Hart family today. Time to face off for round 1: a
war hero who became President of the United States (6).
Jason's Bush 41 is #6. US Grant gives the Chicks control
for #3. Vanessa's George Washington is only good for #2.
Brittany goes with Teddy Roosevelt for #5. Chad likes
Ike for #1. Can the Harts steal with Truman? No, the
Chicks get 88. Other answer: JFK.
Round 2: something a
hiker hates to discover that he forgot to pack in his
backpack (6). Vanessa gets #1, water. Rest of the family
gets clothes/boots and rope. Can the Harts steal with
compass? Up there! The Harts have 64. Other answers:
flashlight, matches.
Double Round: something
that people buy for themselves that they try to hide as
a business expense (full
board). Dave buys a car for #2. Brittany gets #6, a
plane ticket. Chad gets #3, a computer. Vanessa gets #5,
clothes. Dave gets #1, dinner. No sweep this time, as we
go to the Harts... "Office supplies." Got it! They have
230 to the Chicks' 88.
Triple Round: something
you might ask someone to do to your back (4). Donna gets
scratch for #2. Brittany gets #4, crack it. Jason gets
#1, rub it. Dan and the Chicks want to scrub the back...
Not there! The Harts win it, 515-88. Other answer: walk
on it (said!).
If you're in the
Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro areas, the Feud is
coming in October! Register by calling 323-762-8467....
Damn... I'm two family members short!
Jason and Donna try for
the $20,000 today... and they do it, giving them $21,735
for three days. |

Deborah Slattery (homemaker from New Orleans);
$12,300 |
|
Andrew Segal (student orig., from Toronto) |
|
Heather Pharo (writer from Manahawkin, NJ) |
(C-Note: Per Alex Trebek,
this episode was taped well before the devastation of
Hurricane Katrina. The fine folks at J! have confirmed
that Deborah and her family are fine. Our thoughts and
wishes, as well as those of the cast and crew of
Jeopardy! go out to her and everyone else afflicted by
this tragedy. That said, let's get it on.)
Deborah is charged with
getting a second win today. She starts with $400 Sports
Movies. At the TV time out, Andrew has the lead, $3600
to Heather's $3200. Deborah is behind with $1400.
Heather finds the Daily
Double under $600 Million Dollar Baby. In the lead, she
bets $1000 on the father of Beauregard and Rhett. "Who
is Margaret Mitchell?" Nope, it was Ted Turner, leaving
her with $2800. She holds onto second with $5000 to
Andrew's $5400, meanwhile Deborah at $3000 starts Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400 TV Show
Addresses,
finding the first Daily Double under $1600 Writers'
Relatives. She bets
$2600 on Graham Greene's distant relative. "Who is
Robert Louis Stevenson?" Right for $10,000 even! Andrew
gets the second Daily Double, a video under $1600 Where
Am I? He bets $2000, and here's Jimmy. "I'm in this
city, whose air used to look different until a movement
called The Renaissance after World War II." "What is...
Berlin?" Nope. Pittsburgh puts Andrew at $7800. He ends
in third with $9800 to Deborah's $11,600. Heather has
the lead with $12,600, but not by much.
Still time to sign up
for J! tryouts in
Seattle or Vancouver. Go to the website for more details.
Final Jeopardy! in
"Military Traditions": at a military funeral,
the American Flag is folded this many times to resemble
a Revolutionary War soldier's hat. Correct response: What is
13?
Deborah is right, giving
her $16,000. It's on Heather now... and she's wrong,
giving Deborah the win with $28,300 for two days. |

It's Friday. Let's make
this one count!
Contestant Imani Rai, after capturing a Strong Pools &
Spas sauna ($2195) became one of the lucky few to play a
non-car game for a car...in this case, the game was
Squeeze Play for a Ford Focus ZX3SE. From a setup of
1-9-7-1-6-2, she removed the 9 and won a $17,162 car.
Following her magnificent win, contestant Michelle
Gilliam (no relation to Terry) played Any Number in
textbook fashion. Calling every number from 0 to 5, she
won a Dodge Caravan SE ($20,214) with only two mistakes.
Her total, including a pair of surfboards and wetsuits
was an outstanding $21,544.
In the second half, contestant James Miller, the letter
"V" from a group spelling out, "WE LOVE BOB", nailed a
perfect $1000 bid on a Tama drum set. His game:
Switcheroo, and a collective groan came from the
multitudes out there in Television Land. After placing
his blocks the first time, and taking the whole of the
first 30 seconds, he had three prices right. Bob offered
another 30 seconds, James took a moment to look them
over, and with NO HELP from the peanut gallery made only
one change and won the whole kit-n-kaboodle: A Pontiac
Vibe, a calculator/radio/clock combo, a Libman cleaning
package, a retro-phone, and an automatic coin sorter.
His total take with IUFB and $500 bonus: $19,566.
Gilliam, and Freeze Frame winner Nancy Strubeck advanced
to the Showcases as Top Winner and Runner-Up. The first
showcase, consisting of a Dell computer with printer, a
6-night trip to New Zealand, and a Ford Explorer XLS
4-by-2, was kept by Gilliam. Her bid: $26,000.
Strubeck's Showcase; a Sklar Peppler living room,
Hibernia Woolen Mills carpeting, and a Yamaha
snowmobile; received a bid of $18,530. Gilliam's
Showcase totaled $44,164, for a difference of over
$18,000. No way she could possibly with with a
difference like that, right? Well, there was one
way...and that was for Nancy to overbid...which she did
to the tune of just over $2000. Michelle's total take on
the day: $65,708.
Fan notes: Rich was sporting a brown suit today, and
someone better but Dr. Senay on some milk cartons right
soon.
STATS: 4/6; $112,954 |

We start off Friday with 5
items, but no one to price them. That changes as Count
Manuel and Countess Abigail come to suck some blood (or
at least some face) as they try to win a trip to Reno
worth $1,340. The items are Scotch Tape, Century Air
Freshener, Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Kingsford Charcoal
Lighter and Cascade. The couple starts off with $50, and
will get more money with each right guess - but they
have to get them all right to spell V-I-A-J-E. They get
the tape for free and we start with the Freshener, which
they have to get within $2,00, Guess - $3.00. Price -
$1.99. Good enough. Next - the Lysol, and the boundary
is $1.50. Guess - $3.00, Price - $2.96. Let's go on to
the Charcoal, and they have to be within a buck. Guess -
$4.00. Price - $3.99. They are doing excellent as we go
to the Cascade - and they have to get it within 50
cents. Guess - $3.50. Price....wait a second. Guillermo
offers them a box to boil out, but they won't do it.
inside the box - a refrigerator worth $797, which is
nice, but they did the right thing if they are within 50
cents. They...are not, as the Cascade is $4.98. No trip
for them, but they do walk off with $50.
Amelia wants to do better than $50, and she could if she
wins a color TV, love seat and audio system worth
$1,106. Guillermo asks her how much everything was - and
Amelia has no clue, guessing $1,300. No gifts for her,
and we are 0 for 2.
We're going to be giving out money next, as we have 8
numbered bills. Adan the cowboy wants bill #5, while
Edgar the pope wants bill #8. Bill #1, which they both
get, is $100. Bill #2 is $100. Bill #3 is $50. Bill #4
is $50. Adan can bail out of his bill if he wants the
Curtain, but he doesn't. He turns down a set of scales
and a treadmill worth $1,199, but he has a bill. Now
it's Edgar's opportunity to trade for Curtain #3, but he
wants his bill, too. Behind Curtain #3 is a trip to the
Tratolandia Surgery room, complete with Dummy and
ChascoDoctor. Bill #6 is $100. Bill #7 is $100. Adan
gets Bill #5, which is $1,000 for a total of $1,100!
Edgar gets Bill #8, which is ALSO $1,000! We FINALLY get
some winners...
...which is good, because the Gran Trato is over $4,000.
Adan gives the money right back, but Edgar sits down
with his $1,100. The count and countess decide to go for
the Deal, but Adan gets the first choice with #2. The
couple want door #3, but we first see door #1, which no
one took - hence no one is getting $700. Adan is not
getting the Gran Trato either, but he is getting...Peter
Lamas? He's getting a makeover from him and a huge set
of goodies worth $3,100! Nice, but not as nice as The
Gran Trato, which today is a new dining room with tables
and lamps worth $4,407! The Count and Countess will be
feasting tonight, while I will be giving you more
morsels on Monday. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by
Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Going into today's show,
Ann Rusin (Cincinnati, OH) has $4,000 and 2 lifelines
available. How much farther can she go?
After a brief mention of the tattoo that Ann wants to
get rid of, it is revealed that not only is her husband
Mark in the audience, but he, according to her,
apparently has a crush on Meredith. Mark says something
about Portuguese soup, and Meredith assures Ann that she
has nothing to worry about. Soon enough, they get back
to the game with this $8,000 question...
What novelist's best-known protaganists include
Elizabeth Bennet, Emma Woodhouse and Elinor Dashwood?
A: Emily Brontė
B: Virginia Woolf
C: Jane Austen
D: Edith Wharton
Ann decides to call Sharon, her sister, and she says
that she's 70% sure it's C. Ann goes with it... and
she's right! Moving on to $16,000...
On the final episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond," Ray
undergoes surgery to have what removed?
A: Mole
B: Wisdom teeth
C: Appendix
D: Adenoids
Ann uses the 50:50, which leaves C and D. After
considering her options, and knowing that either way,
she'll have the $1,000 needed to remove that tattoo, she
goes for it. She says D... and that's worth $16,000! But
at the $25,000 question, when asked what U.S. state
opened a tourism office in China in 2004, Ann decides to
stop right there, not knowing that it's Nevada. She
takes home $16,000, and that tattoo of hers is going
bye-bye!
Next on the list is Bill Gersten (Denver, CO), and in
preparing for this moment, his apartment is literally
littered with post-its all over, each with a different
bit of trivia. He'd better hope that nothing comes up
that weren't on those post-its. Anyway, he starts by
knowing that it's usually illegal to park a car next to
a fire hydrant by a sidewalk. Bill has to ask the
audience on the $200 question, though, to find out that
"Toy boat, toy boat, toy boat" is an example of a tongue
twister (88% of the studio audience and 77% of the AIM
poll gave the answer). After that, he breezes through a
set of questions, before reaching this one for $8,000...
In 2005, what Oscar presenter huffily informed host
Chris Rock that Jude Law is "one of our finest actors"?
A: Sean Penn
B: Tim Robbins
C: John Travolta
D: Johnny Depp
Bill uses the 50:50, and now had just A and D to choose
from. He then chooses to call Kristina, his Goddaughter.
Kristina isn't 100% sure, but she thinks it's A. Bill
goes with it... and it's A! On the next question,
though, Bill makes a mistake, thinking that an
antimacassar, a decorative piece of cloth, is most often
used to protect coffee tables from stains (it actually
protects armchairs). That ends his run, and sends him
home with $1,000.
And with that, we're done for the week. A new contestant
will get a shot at some cash on Monday. |
