Hart (Jason,
Amber, Toi, Donna, John); $845 |
|
Rosebraugh
(Zachary, Carrie, Keith, Larry, Mary Beth) |
The head of the
Rosebaugh family knows a bit about hair, chops, and bad
suits, but that's not going to get in the way of their
$20,000 dreams. Round 1: 100 women, something specific
under the car's hood you can identify (7). Jason
gets battery, number one. The rest of the family gets
engine and radiator. Can the challengers steal with
"belts"? Nope, the Harts get 74. Other answers:
carburetor, dipstick (said!), oil tank/cap, air
conditioning.
Round 2: real or not,
someone famous named Jose (full board). Carrie gets Jose
Gonzales (artist) for #8. Amber says... Jose Hart. The
Rosebraughs get the bard, needless to say. Keith gets
#3, Jose Canseco (baseballer). Larry goes ten rounds
with Jose Cuervo (alcohol dude), #2. The rest of the
answers... well, aren't important. Can the Harts steal
with Jose Feliciano (singer)? Yep, it's number one. They
get 118. Other answers: Jose Ferrer (actor), Jose
Jimenez (another baseballer), Jose Greco (dancer), Jose
Iturbi (pianist).
Double Round: something
a mother of eight kids needs a lot of (full
board). Toi gets milk... under food/groceries, #6.
John's money is #2. The Rosebraughs try for the steal
with patience. Number one! The Rosebraughs on the board
with 68. Other answers: sleep, help/support, love.
Triple Round: a fruit
that tastes good when it's dipped in chocolate (4).
Donna gets strawberries for #1. Bananas are good for 2.
Cherries are good for 4. Just need #3... and it's apples
to win, 412-68.
If you're in the
Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro areas, the Feud is
coming in October! Register by calling 323-762-8467....
Damn... I'm two family members short!
John and Jason get a
second shot at Fast Money. Jason gets a big one in
something you see in a pinball machine (the pinball). He
gets 134. John gets the family to... 178. That's another
$890, giving them $1735 for two days. |

Mike Leger (air quality consultant from
Bridgewater, NJ); $30,801 |
|
Deborah Slattery (homemaker from New Orleans) |
|
Chris Hartley (adjunct professor/writer from The
Bronx, NY) |
(C-Note: Per Alex Trebek,
this episode was taped well before the devastation of
Hurricane Katrina. The fine folks at J! have confirmed
that Deborah and her family are fine. Our thoughts and
wishes, as well as those of the cast and crew of
Jeopardy! go out to her and everyone else afflicted by
this tragedy. That said, let's get it on.)
We've just had a
revolving door of champs since David Madden was
dethroned on Monday. Will it continue to revolve, or
will Mike hold on for a second day? He starts with $200
Can You Digit?. So far, he can't digit, as he's $200
down at the game break. Chris is in the lead, $3800 to
Deborah's $2200.
Deborah finds the Daily
Double under $400 On Old Maps. With $3000 to her credit,
the mama bets half her stash on the country that was
once called Kievan Rus. "What is Russia?" With the
documented answer as "the Ukraine", she is ruled as
wrong, giving her $1500. Now here's an interesting spot,
and I'll let you know why in a bit, but first, we end
the round with Chris at $3800 and Mike at $2800.
Here's where things get
REALLY interesting. Over the break, the line judges do
their research and find that part of Kievan Rus was
actually in Russia, so that is ruled as correct, giving
Deborah $3700, meaning that Mike will start Double
Jeopardy! with $400 A Steve Martin Film Festival,
finding the first Daily Double under $1200. He bets
$1400 on this: "All dames are alike: they reach down
your throat & they grab your heart, pull it out & they
throw it on the floor." "What is 'Dead Men Don't Wear
Plaid'?" Right for $5000. Jimmy gives Deborah the second
Daily Double under $800 The Pentagon worth $3600: "The
PEntagon is so vast, in 1989 this Secretary of Defense
got lost in the basement for 10 minutes before finding
this way out." "Who is Tess Weinberger?" Wrong, no two
ways about it. Dick Cheney sends Deborah back to $5700,
but she gets a late $2000 clue to end at $7700 to Mike's
$5800 and Chris' $9800.
Still time to sign up
for J! tryouts in
Seattle or Vancouver. Go to the website for more details.
Final Jeopardy! in
"Famous Paintings": it was originally painted
as the centerpiece of the Spanish Government Pavilion at
the 1937 Paris World's Fair. Correct response: What is
Guernica?
Mike and Deborah are
right, but Deborah bet bigger to win with $12,300. Mike
leaves with $32,801. |

Friends Cynthia
(writer) & Trish (RN) |
|
Friends
Matt (royalty analyst) & Philip (file
clerk) |
Cynthia & Trish start
off with an F. That turns into FOAMY. FOAMY turns into a
red ball. They get the draw back with BITES, then turn
TERMS into a Lingo for 125. They're not done yet, as
they catch DIGIT, PAUSE, KNOTS, and... another stopper.
Can Matt & Philip get points on the board here? Umm...
no. They give Cynthia & Trish some more WIDTH. And Trish
draws the last red ball, as the round ends, with Cynthia
& Trish up, 225-0.
Big chance for the guys
to catch up... and they blow it. The girls get CHEST,
but... goodness, another red ball! Matt & Philip need
the next few draws in the worst way here... They get the
hallelujah chorus with ACHES. With their draws, they
Lingo, giving them 150 to the Yellows' 275. But Cynthia
& Trish answer back with JOUST and another Lingo, giving
them the 425-150 lead. Matt & Philip get a PIECE of that
lead, but VINYL gives them a stopper. That's the game,
Cynthia & Trish win it, 425-250.
With three letters in
Bonus Lingo, Cynthia & Trish get SWORD, GIVES, CRAZE,
STUFF, KNEAD, and completely miss the gimme of LUNGE,
but still, five ain't bad. Let's go for 20 times that.
It'll happen if 45 comes up first. Cynthia gets... 17.
Trish gets the $5000 on the next draw. |

The
Price is Right by
Travis Schario and Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |
|
September 22, 2003: Travis
Schario breaks a Lucky $even record, winning a $46,573
Cadillac.
September 22, 2005: Carol Fortin breaks a Race Game
record winning a $3050 Grill-n-Chill, a $960 Party Tyme
Karaoke package, a $2247 Hooker dinette set, and $1345
his & her golf clubs in only 10 SECONDS! Thornton
captured a pair of Currie electric scooters ($858) after
the season's first Contestants Row overbid.
Contestant Andrea Stenseth joined the ranks of those
contestants who don't know how to play Check Game. Even
after Bob explained the rules to her once, she wrote her
check for $4500 to be added to the price of a trip to
Sedona, Arizona. Barker stopped her, reviewed the rules
once more, and Stenseth changed the check to $2500.
Added to the price of the trip, $3432, her total was
$5932 and the second and final full win of the show.
Contestants Timothy Dehaney and Angelo Gianni, losers of
Money Game and 1 Right Price, were the day's Top Winner
and Runner-Up in the Showcases. Dehaney's showcase
consisted of a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, a
selection of power tools, and a 25 foot Catalina
sailboat. His bid: $45,000. Gianni's showcase, utilizing
the "Nuveau Elevator," consisted of a Yamaha Klavinova
digital piano, a Joust/Robotron arcade cabinet, and a
GEM E4 neighborhood car. His bid: $21,000. Rack up
another "First of the season" stat. It's our first
Double Overbid of the 34th year: Dehaney overbid by over
$11,000; Gianni by just under $7000.
And to top it all off, poor
Willie Wells has to sit out the entire hour in
Contestants' Row. Sorry, Willie. But the double overbid
means that the quickie Carol gets top winner honors
today.
Fan Notes: Rich's suit was multi-colored: ash coat,
black pants, and a BRIGHT blue tie.
Still no sign of Dr. Emily Senay.
STATS: 2/6 + 1 Bailout; $23,929
Other winners:
Capt. Joyce Hopson, US Army: night-vision binoculars;
$4000 playing Pass the Buck (had she gone on... she
would've used the $4000 for gas in her new car)
Edward Allegre: baseball glove chair; mini-fridge, joke
machine, pedometer/radio, and $50 playing Punch-a-Bunch |

Trato
Hecho by
Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: 12p ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |

Guillermo has a good deal
for Guadalupe the flamenco dancer, Anna the senorita and
Maria the cat. Anna starts us off as the is making the
decisions for the team. She gets $400 and has a decision
- either give the Vitacilina and what's inside or the
box to Maria. She gives Maria the box, which has a
vacuum and household supplies for $305, which isn't bad,
but she could have had $500 from the Vitacilina. Now she
can either give Guadalupe $300 or give him the small
box. Anna gives Guadalupe the $300 instead of a pair of
GPS's worth $760. Guillermo offers both Guadalupe and
Maria Curtain #2, if they want to trade. They both do
and they both get...a stuffed Greek toga wearing cow and
a rocking chair for a Chasco! Now Anna has $400 - which
she doesn't have any more because she trades for Curtain
#3. What does she get? a sofa and a lamp worth $1,099.
Not a bad deal for someone who kept making the wrong
choices.
Will Minera make the right choice? She is told to select
a red or platinum car. She selects the platinum and is
given $200 to buy it back. She turns it down and
gets...$1. The Red car was the right choice, because it
had $400.
Maria the Wizard gives Guillermo her hat and gets $400
from Guillermo, no questions asked. It's hers to keep -
unless she wants to big box, which she doesn't want. In
the big box was a range worth $599, but she's happy
because she wanted the money. For the next deal,
Guillermo shows her...her hat. Does she want to give
$400 for her hat back? Or does she want Curtain #1? She
wants neither and decides to keep the money. Under the
hat...a collection of small Chasco hats. She doesn't get
that, but she also doesn't get a refrigerator worth
$1,199. She's still happy with the $400 and she sits
down.
Would she be happier with a shot at the Gran Trato? Anna
is happy to go for it, while Maria, after much
hesitation, she decides to go for it. She obviously
hasn't seen the show, because it's a no-brainer to go
for it if it only costs $400. Anna wants #2, Maria wants
#1, and we first get to see door #...2, which has $750
for Anna. It's a little trade down, but it's nice. Maria
is happier that she's getting more than $400, as she
gets a washer/dryer system, a steam iron and a $250
certificate to Marshall's. That deal is a total of
$2,547, but this time, no one gets the Gran Trato. What
is it today? We have carpeting, and a new living room
group for a total of $5,119. Awwww =(. |

Ok, we are into the third

THE HOUSE. Software engineer Shawn Anton is from
Gardena, CA pursuing her Masters in Literature. She

to $3,000 by solving HIGH-RENT DISTRICT. ...and we add
this to the wheel...a trip to the Cambridge Beaches
resort in Bermuda with airfare from USA3000 Airlines.
It's worth $7,190! Shawn starts this round which is
LIVING THINGS...and it's a PRIZE PUZZLE! She misses a
vowel..over to Valerie. She hits and picks up the
Bermuda trip. She calls a vowel on the board...over to
Steve. He misses...back to Shawn. Shawn solves WHALE
SHARKS & MANTA RAYS for $1,250. You can see these off
the coast of Mexico! Shawn is going to Cancun and the
Moon Palace Golf and Spa resort! Airfare provided by
Mexicana Airlines. It's worth $7,000. And if you have
the SPIN ID of BR00707...you are off to Cancun! She has
$8,250 in this round...and $11,250 in total!
The jackpot round is sponsored by Eggland's Best Eggs.
The category for this round is BEFORE AND
AFTER...Valerie starts. She misses...over to Steve. He
misses...back to Shawn...she hits and picks up the Free
Spin. She hits the $1,000 cash from Hawaiian Tropic gift
tag. She misses...and uses the Free Spin. She misses
again. Back to Valerie...she misses...back to
Steve....he hits Bankrupt...back to Shawn...she hits the
$3,500 wedge and one P. She calls a vowel already

in cash and Mexico trip!
The Mystery round prize is $10,000 in cash....The
category is WHERE ARE WE? Steve starts. He misses a
vowel...over to Shawn. She controls the wheel for the
rest of the round and solves TOPEKA TORNADOES HOME TO
TOTO & DOROTHY for $6,800. And she adds $3,000 more by
knowing it's KANSAS for a total of $9,800. She has
$25,900 in cash and trip!
The $3,000 Tossup is ON THE MAP. Shawn quickly adds
$3,000 for $28,900 in total with THE RIO GRANDE. The
category for this round is STAR AND ROLE. FINAL SPIN
TIME, though. $1,300 a letter. And Shawn completes her
domination with JOHNNY DEPP AS WILLY WONKA for $2,600.
And she clean sweeps the game with $31,500. Both Steve
and Valerie are done for the night...and we give them
each $1,000!
Will we be 0 for 8 in bonus rounds? Will Shawn rescue us
from the Bonus Round Blues? I have a very good feeling
about this. She lands on the , in $100,000. Her puzzle
tonight is THING. With the normal 6 and her choices of
CMBO:
_ E B
B R O _ S E R
And we have our first winner of the season! Whether it
be Firefox, Netscape or Mozilla...it's a WEB BROWSER!
And she adds $25,000 in cash to her impressive total of
$56,500 in cash and trip to Mexico! I told you she would
do it! |

Previously, we saw a second
straight $50,000 winner. Will we see 3 in a row?
Today, we start with Janie Cozad (Hillsborough, CA), who
is a stay-at-home mom. She was given the advice of not
missing the $100 question, or else her kids wouldn't be
able to show their faces at school. That won't be a
problem, though, because Janie knows that NASA's web
site features historic footage of Neil Armstrong (though
if they had a "fiction" section, ALF could probably fit
in there). She breezes through some more questions after
that, including one that asks what a crook is doing if
attempting to "hot-wire" a car (start the engine), and
one that asks what titles are given to British men and
women when "knighted" by the Queen (Sir and Dame). Then,
at the $8,000 level, Janie gets this...
"Toxicodendron radicans" is the scientific name of what
common plant?
A: Poinsettia
B: Holly
C: Poison Ivy
D: Mistletoe
Unsure, Janie calls Genelle, a friend. However, in
spelling out "toxicodendron radicans," Janie didn't seem
to leave enough time for Genelle, resulting in no
response. So, Janie goes to the 50:50, which leaves A
and C. With that, she guesses C... and she's right!
Another question later, and this comes up for $25,000...
Brewer Anheuser-Busch is the nation's largest purchaser
of which of these crops?
A: Rice
B: Corn
C: Wheat
D: Oats
Janie asks the audience, and 56% of the studio audience
says C, with 53% of the AIM users agreeing. Janie goes
with them and says C... but they're wrong! The correct
answer was A! Only 5% of the studio audience and 11% of
the AIM users had it right! It's a darn shame, but Janie
does leave with $1,000.
Up next is Ann Rusin (Cincinnati, OH), who wants to win
enough money to remove a tattoo on her back. It costs
about $1,000 to get rid of it. And no, we won't get to
see it, though Ann does describe it as a little man
holding a treble clef. Her road to the big money starts
with her knowing that in 1936, Oscar Mayer introduced
the Wienermobile (which is obviously a more appealing
name than the Gastricbypassmobile). Ann continues on
through more questions, including one where she answers
that the stenotype machine is most commonly used by
court reporters (that one gets her the $1,000). Soon
enough, she gets this $4,000 question...
In 2005, Kmart teamed up with what other retailer in a
massive $12.3 billion merger?
A: Home Depot
B: Sears
C: Target
D: Wal-Mart
Despite the audience getting an earlier question wrong,
Ann asks them. 84% of the studio audience and 55% of the
AIM users say B. Ann goes with B... and it's B! The
audience has redeemed themselves!
And not a moment too soon, because there's the horn. Ann
will be back tomorrow for more. |
