Summer".. Not it. It's "Potato skin."

|
Anderson (Holly,
Shannon, Chris, Destiny, Casey); $940 |
Round 1: 100 women, a
word starting with the letter "S" that describes some
men (6). Melisa gets #4, selfish. Holly scores big as
she brings sexy back for #1. Rest of the family comes up
empty. Melissa goes on her own with "stubborn" for the
steal. Got it for 29. Other answers: stupid, slob, slow.
Round 2: something a
husband might do in the delivery room when his wife is
giving birth (6). Bridgette gets #4, video tape. Shannon
gets #3, hold her hand. Lest we remind that John and his
wife are expecting their first child. Chris gets #1,
faint. Rest of the family gets to cut the cord. The
Walls try to steal with "cry"... 97 points! Other
answer: leave/walk out.
Double: a famous rock
band from the 60s (full board). Phillip gets #2, the
Stones. The Dead is... #5 for Chris. Francine gets #1,
the Beatles. The Andersons go with the Beach Boys to
steal.. Not there, the Andersons are up to 253. Other
answers: the Doors, Sly & The Family Stone, the
Fortunes.
Triple: a personal
question most people resent being asked (4). Destiny
gets weight, #2. Francine gets #1, age. Rest of the

do you do when another driver cuts you off in traffic (4).

them off, honk, and ... run them off the road? Not goof
for the steal. Clarks win, 303-228. Other answer: ignore
them.

the board again... Together, they get 150 for $750,
giving them a two-day take of $20,750.

Sara Terrell
(veterinary technician from Collinsville, CT);
$33,199, two days |
|
Alexandra Petri
(college freshman orig. from Fon du Lac, WI) |
|
Nick Calton
(paralegal orig. from New York City) |
Sara backdoored her way
into another championship yesterday, but how will day 3
fare?
She
starts with $200 Major Musical Works, where Nick finds
the Daily Double under $600. He bets the max of $1000 on
this: Opus 51 of this man portrayed in the movie
"Impromptu" is an impromptu in G flat major.
"Who is Chopin?" Right for $1600! It's a race
between his $4200 and Alexandra's $4400 going into the
half, while Sara with $1800 gets to start off Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Rx. Nick
finds the first Daily Double under $1200 The Produce
Department. He wagers $3000 on this: the English type of
this green-skinned gourd is eaten fresh; the Kirby is
pickled. "What is the cucumber?" Right for $12,000! Sara
has a chance to get up in this with $1600 Colonial
America, the other Daily Double. She bets $5000 for the
lead. The Clue: he served as New Amsterdam's governor
from 1647 to 1664 & then retired to his bowerij, or
farm, dying there in 1672. "Who is Stuyvesant?" You have
the lead and $14,400... and she is tied with Nick with
$15,200 against Alexandra's $8800.
Final Jeopardy! in
"In The News 2006": justice Peter Smith embedded a
secret code into a 2006 ruling that said this author
hadn't violated a copyright. Correct question: who is
Dan Brown?
Alexandra: "Who is that
dude?" Sorry, Alex. You lost everything. Nick is right
and bets everything. Unless Sara bets everything, we
have a new champ... We have CO-CHAMPIONS! Sara will
return tomorrow with $63,599, while Nick will return
tomorrow with $30,400. |

Premiere week is still on a
high. Can we keep it rolling?
Jennifer Ricardo, Kalanchi Abraham, Christopher Garnier,
and John Carras take their places in Bidders' Row for a
Yamaha TTR 125LT offroad bike. Kalanchi claims the bike
and plays Range Game for a Ford Ranger XL 4X2. With the
range from $15,300 to $15,900, she "whispers" $15,700 to
Bob, while stopping the rangefinder at $15,669. ARP of
the trick: $15,687. Ouch.
Well, let's have Jennifer try her luck. She captures a
pair of Samick electric guitars with amps to play
Punch-A-Bunch. Picking up a Versailles phone, a kids ATM
bank, and an Oregon Scientific weather radio, she
punched first for $500. She gave it back, from the
advice of "those dudes" in the audience. Her next punch:
$100. Shifting gears to the other side of the audience,
she gives that back as well, only to end up with another
$100.
Next, Jeannine McManigal picked up a Dell Inspiron 6000,
valued at $1188. She gets a shot at three lovely prizes
in Ten Chances. Those prizes? A Sharper Image personal
cooling system, a Broyhill rotating bar cabinet, and a
Ford Fusion SE. She made quick work of the first two, at
$30 (from 5-0-3) and $650 (from 5-0-6-8). With the car's
options at 1-9-3-0-2, she went with 13920, 19320, 19230,
then 19302. An expert playing to that point. Bob made
the remark that it may not be 19, so she went with
21930, then 21390 for the win. Although she had an
outstanding win, Kalanchi went thru to the Showcases.
T-MAC NOTE: When the show went to break, Bob commented
to the audience that the way Jeannine played Ten Chances
was the right way to play it...always put the zero last.
From Scott Robinson: "That's the first time he's ever
said that to an audience."
To kick off Half #2, Christopher escaped the Row with a
Golden West Billiards Timberline pool table ($3000) and
a supply of Hot Pockets. He now got a shot to Freeze
Frame the price of an Alaskan cruise. The setup:
74 - 80 - 16 - 22 - 40 - 95 - 10 - 63
He froze the price at $4095, but he won't be spending
his honeymoon in Alaska. Cruise was $6374.
1 for 4. Gotta pick up the pace, people. How about
Marylinn Panarisi? When she first came on down, she came
right on up. She reclaimed a place on stage after
bidding perfectly on a $1680 Rosenthal Crystal Stemware
set. (She got the bid from the Iowa State guys behind
her) Her game: Pass The Buck for a $14,985 Dodge Caliber
SE. She earned one extra choice by adding $1 to 89¢
Skillet Potatoes from Betty Crocker. Her first choice,
#2, netted her a big fat nuthin'. Her second, #4, gave
her $1000.
T-MAC NOTE: This woman seemed lost from the start.
First, she comes on up. Then she tries to pass the
eggcrate displays instead of The Buck, which she still
didn't pass all the way to one side or the other. When
she got to the board, she barely had a reaction for
$1000. Like an 80-year-old deer in the headlights.
The budget is starting to rebound thanks to today's
record. Maybe we can chisel into it a little more with
the help of Garrison Benoit. He picked up his & her
stainless Croton watches ($1000) to play One Right Price
for his & her Dynastar snowsports equipment and a
highbrowfurniture.com Goetz sofa. The 1RP: $3899. He
passes it to the snow stuff, marked $2834. 1/6 today.
Garrison was lucky enough to win a 90-70 spinoff with
Christopher (after tying at 95) to earn the Runner-Up
position in the Showcases next to Top Winner Kalanchi.
Showcase #1 starred Rachel as "Dr. Phillis" helping a
couple thru marriage woes. The prizes contained therein:
a trip to Tahiti (6n @ Radisson Plaza Resort), a 62"
Mitsubishi TV, and a Ford Mustang convertible. Kalanchi
keeps it and bids $38,250.
Showcase #2 featured an Aico Tresor bedroom (with
Comfortaire mattress), a Bullfrog spa, and a Yamaha
RS-90 Vector GT snowmobile. Garrison's bid: $28,000.
Garrison didn't do too terribly. His Showcase was
$32,749 for a difference of $4749. Kalanchi did a little
better. Her Showcase was $40,128 for a difference of
$1878. Her take for the day: $42,695.
STATS: 1/6; $75,407 |

Malpics... neither I nor Marco know what they're
stealing with, but whatever it is, it isn't up there,
giving 287 to the Reyes. Other answer: balloon.
Triple: something that
can hit a sailor on the high seas (4). Larry gets #2, an
iceberg. Another boat is #1 for Ricardo. A rock and a
... reef? Well, no, but good try. The Malpics win,
361-287. Other answer: a whale.
Ricardo and Larry try
again at Dinero Rápido, where Ricardo draws... $500.
They get the 203 for $6000 for two games. |

Yesterday, Carol Martinez
(Wilmington, DE) needed all 3 of her lifelines to reach
the $16,000 level. Now, we'll see if she can keep
going...
Carol has had her current mattress since the mid '80s,
so she could really use a new one. I think what she has
now should be more than enough to cover the cost of one,
but she can make more, especially if she gets through
this, as the game resumes...
[$25,000]
"Cow's Skull with Calico Roses" and "Horse's Skull with
White Rose" are two celebrated pieces by what U.S.
painter?
A: Frederic Remington
B: Jasper Johns
C: Georgia O'Keeffe
D: Roy Lichtenstein
Carol is thinking C, but fears that she might be wrong.
After some thought, though, she goes with that guess...
and she has $25,000! On to the upper tier...
[$50,000]
The first SeaWorld opened in 1964 in what U.S. city?
A: San Diego, CA
B: San Antonio, TX
C: Orlando, FL
D: Aurora, OH
She is tempted to say A, but Carol says she's not
completely sure, so she switches it out. When she sees
the answer, though, she regrets it; it was A. Well, it's
too late now, as she now has this to ponder...
[$50,000] (Q)
Which of these countries has never played host to the TV
series "Survivor"?
A: Costa Rica
B: Brazil
C: Kenya
D: Thailand
She's a fan of that show, but she doesn't pay too much
attention to where they take place. Carol knows it's not
D (Survivor: Thailand), and she figures it's not C
either (Survivor: Africa). Since it's a free guess,
though, she goes ahead and says B... but it's A!
(Survivor: Amazon took place in Brazil.) With that, she
leaves with $25,000!
Entering the hot seat now is Tamika Reid (Defuniak
Springs, FL). Her hometown has some of the best beaches
in Florida, according to her. She didn't bring anyone
with her to sit in the audience, though; those that she
trusts are on her Phone-a-Friend list. Interesting...
Anyway, Tamika starts by knowing that when receiving
unpleasant news, one is often advised to not shoot the
messenger (or the game show hostess, for that matter).
She makes it through the lower tier, before facing
this...
[$2,000]
Maria "Money Honey" Bartiromo was the first journalist
to provide live daily reports from what storied New York
locale?
A: Empire State Building
B: Stock Exchange floor
C: Times Square
D: Lincoln Center
Tamika decides to ask the audience, and 87% are saying
B. She trusts them... and they're right! Moving on...
[$4,000]
Which of these destinations is also known as the "Holy
See"?
A: Jerusalem
B: Vatican City
C: Luxembourg
D: Andorra
Tamika has chosen to call Miclynn, and she says B.
Tamika goes with that... and it's B! Another question
later, and this pops up...
[$16,000]
When a custom wedding dress is being fitted, the mock-up
dress is commonly made out of what material?
A: Rayon
B: Chenille
C: Damask
D: Muslin
The 50:50 leaves A and D. Tamika guesses A... but it's
D! That sends her home with $1,000.
The next player is Michael Long III (North Arlington,
NJ). He's an electrician, and his co-workers are
watching. And they're rooting against him, apparently,
as they want to see him fall flat on his face. But
Michael starts by knowing the common piece of advice,
"Be careful what you wish for, because you just might
get it". He sweeps the lower tier, then makes it to
$4,000...
..before the show ends for today. Michael looks to
continue on his way to the million, in spite of his
co-workers, tomorrow. |
