Today is

Chain Reaction by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time: Saturday 9p ET/8p CT on GSN
Host: Dylan Lane
Ryan, Sean & Dan (friends)
Ashley, Carlena & Courtney (20something girlfriends)

Round 1 ($100 per word): connect BLOW with CLUB. Ashley starts it with blow POP. Courtney gets a pop TOP. Sean joins a BALL club and HAIR ball. Dan completes it with HAT. The Speed Chain: COCONUT - M - J - HEAD. They try "Mango Jar..." Close, it was "milk jug."

Round 2 ($200 per word): connect STROBE with HALEN. Ashley turns on the strobe LIGHT. Carlena gets VAN Halen. Sean gets light YEAR. .... And we have a mulligan, as Dylan screws up the order play. That old chain... thrown out. Any monies for the ladies, however, will roll over.

Round 2a: SUCK (heh) to ANCHOR. Chain: SUCK - DRY - LAND - LOCK - JAW - DROPPING - ANCHOR. Guys complete the chain, but still trail, $1400 to $500. Speed Chain: WITCH - H - N - CRACKER. Correct: "Hazel Nut".

(C-Note: a responsible producer would've stopped down and thrown the chain out completely, resetting the scores. Michael Davies... is not a responsible producer.)

Round 3 ($300 per word): connect BROADWAY with ALIKE. Carlena plays Broadway PLAY and play BUTTON. Sean gets button DOWN. Ryan gets down TIME. Sean finishes with SHARE. Girls still lead, $2000 to $1400. Final Speed Chain: EXTRA - C - H - BUFF. Correct: "Credit History."

Round 4: connect FLIP with BREAD. Chain is: FLIP - FLOP - HOUSE - BROKEN - RECORD - BREAKING - BREAD. A $500 bet gives the guys the win, $2200 to $2100. So it's all a wash at the end... I think.

Bonus Round: Ryan can't see a damned thing. They get Bible, Yankees, Jell-O, Barney, fever, and tarantula for $4400.

Starface by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time: Saturday 9:30p ET/8:30p CT on GSN
Host: Danny Bonaduce
Conchita Bellyle (animal trainer from Hyannis, MA; almost spilled a bowl of soup on Joaquin Phoenix)
James Ross (writer from Seattle; was pulled out of an audience to play with Green Day)
Alycia Stewart (was serenaded by Scott Hamilton)

Round 1: Tori Spelling starts this hit parade from hell. Bill Maher almost finishes it. Heh. Next up, a visit to the National Enquirer Hot Corner with current Superman Brandon Routh. The very orange Victoria Beckham spices up as we go to break with James in the lead with 250 to the girls' 200 a piece.

Round 2: Cindy Crawford was never in our Yearbook... but this person is. The clue: "Thanks for being the worst prom date ever, and for your information, my prom dress is not illogical." It's Leonard Nimoy. Nicole Kidman leads us to a Mug Shot with Snoop Dogg. James, the target of a smack joke in the Mug Shot segment, is smacking the competition, 1050 to Conchita's 400 and Alycia's 500.

By the way kids... Drugs are bad. Mmkay?

Round 3: trading regular faces for... Fran Drescher. James wins this one easy, 1450 to Alycia's 900 and Conchita's 800.

Bonus Round for a trip to the Costa Rica. James, on one side... "My Name is Earl's" Jason Lee. On the other... martial arts star Jet Li. James gets 900 beans for his nine correct answer.
