Butcher
(Heidi, Corie, Amie, Marcie, Kelli) |
|
Smith
(Percy, Marilyn, Tennace, Michael, Craig); $20,000 |
The Smith's road to five
goes through a gaggle of Butcher sisters...
Round 1: something grown
men still ask their mommy to do for them (6). Heidi gets
#2, laundry, which is good enough for control. Corie
gets #1, cooking. The rest of the girls get pay bills
(loan money). The Smiths try to steal with "choose their
mate" over "babysit". Not there! The Butchers get 93.
Other answers: shop for them, give ride in car, sing to
them.
Round 2: one fact about
Angelina Jolie (6). Corie strikes again with "big lips"
(pretty). Rest of the girls get "adopted two kids",
"dating Brad Pitt", and "married to Billy Bob Thornton."
Can the Smiths steal with "daughter of Jon Voight"? Not
there! The Butchers are up to 173! Other answer: has a
wild streak, does charity work.
Double Round: with no
time for food shopping, something a desperate housewife
serves for dinner (5). Amie gets #2, pizza, good for
control. Mac & Cheese is also on the survey. Heidi gets
#1, a TV dinner. The Smiths get the steal again, this
time with "soup". Not there! Butchers are up to 263.
Other answers: eggs, hot dogs.
Triple Round: the first
thing that tells you to go on a diet (4). Marcie's scale
beats Michael's tight clothes, 1 to 2. Kelli gets your
spouse, #3. The Smiths have one more chance with
"doctor". It's there! So they take the lead, 282-273,
meaning it's time for...
Sudden Death: some
information abut your future you wouldn't want to know.
Kelli gets the points with "when will I die?", winning
it for the Butchers, 473-282.
Heidi & Kelli go for the
Fast Money. Heidi's up first...
1) 100 women, an
occasion where you want to lose a few pounds for
(wedding)
2) What you might eat more than one for at breakfast
(egg)
3) Something animals have that humans don't (tail)
4) How long the average car warranty lasts (five years)
5) A type of ball you would put air into (basketball)
Heidi makes up for a
slow start, getting two number ones for 127. Kelli gets
five under the time, and it's a good thing she did,
because she would've missed the $20,000! |

Jeopardy! by

David Madden
(student orig. from Ridgewood, NJ, now
living in Berlin, Germany); $378,700, 16 days |
|
Sharon Rupe (children's museum designer from St.
Petersburg, FL) |
|
John Shivers (marketing interviewer from
Madison, WI) |
Is there no stopping the
Madden Train? Let's find out today, as he begins his
16th defense with $1000 Along Boston's Freedom Trail, a
clue he is briefly rules on as wrong, but is later
credited as right. His search for the Daily Double in
the opening round comes up empty, but it does more than
enough damage to Sharon's score, as she is far in the
back, with -$1400 to David's $3400 and John's $2800 at
the TV timeout.
What gives David the
most satisfaction on a daily basis? "All the little
things." Here's a big little thing, it's called a Daily
Double, and you found it under $1000 The Theatah. Of his
$4200, he bets the level. on the Sheridan play with Jack
Absolute and Bob Acres vying for Lydia Languish's hand.
"What is 'The Rivals'?" Right for $5200. He ends this
round with $5800 to John's $4800, while Sharon, still in
the red by $200, starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Also a
Batman Villain. David expects the French Revolution
for $1200, the first Daily Double. He bets $5600, nearly
half of his stash, on the editor of L'ami du Peuple,
whom the Jacobins used as an excuse to begin the reign
of terror. "Who is Marat?" Right on for $17,000! And
here we go again as David finds the second Daily Double
right on the heels of the first. How much will he bet on
$1600 Eponymous? "$3000". The clue: the hypnotist
villain in the 1894 novel "Trilby" gave us this word for
one who controls another with evil intent. "(after
a long pause) Sorry." It was "svengali", dropping David
down to $14,000. Running out of time, as David regains
some of his stash with $17,200 to John's $10,400 and
Sharon's $1800.
Final Jeopardy! in
"18th Century Literature": this character
studied medicine, "knowing it would be useful in long
voyages". Correct response: Who is Gulliver?
David
and Sharon both botched it with Robinson Crusoe, but
what about John? "Who is Jimmy McGuire?" "He got my name
wrong in the contestant search." I see. In any case,
David remains champ with another $13,200 added to his
take, now standing at $391,900. |

Lingo by
Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 7p ET/6p CT on GSN
Host: Chuck Woolery |
|
|
High school friends and
piano players James & Roger |
|
Friends
& former co-workers Toni (starving writer)
& Hannah (working on a book with her dad) |
James & Roger begin with
an N, which becomes a NYMPH. Toni & Hannah steal the
FIFTH, but karma in the form of a red ball. James &
Roger take two TRIPS to the Lingo board, but Roger comes
back red. Toni & Hannah muster out WHEAT for 25, and
Hannah comes up red again. James & Roger get RETRO,
CREEK, ARISE, and the Lingo for 175 to the Reds' 50. The
ladies get JUMPS, COUGH, and SCREW. And then they get
screwed with another stopper. Should be the third. Bad
news, it's the end of the round, and we have to put
three more in there. Worse news, the trail, 125 to the
Yellows' 175.
Round 2 on tap, while
Shandi can't get off her metro kick. Toni & Hannah get
an L, getting LOGIC to tie. James & Roger break the tie
with ODDLY. They follow with GERMS, COOKS, and Lingo for
the win, 425-175.
With three Bonus Lingo
letters, James & Roger get SIXTH, BEGIN, TIMED, FACES,
DUSTY, and CHEWS, giving them six balls and six bills.
Good chance at $5000. But if they pull 19, that's
$10,000. James pulls... 5. There goes $10,000... but at
the last draw, the odds of $5000 aren't that good
either. Only three out of eight will do it. 13... is one
of the five that won't. So they leave with $600, not
enough for a piano, but plenty for a Yamaha keyboard. |

Trato
Hecho by
Gordon Pepper, GSNN
Air time: 12p ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca |
|
We start out this show with
Guillermo pulling out 3 people form the audience -
Yofoldo the tuxedo-clad chap, Angelina the life-sized
doll and Maribel the clown. The group has some pens for
Guillermo. Yofoldo will be making the decisions for
Angelina - does he want Curtain #1 or #2 for Angelina?
He selects curtain #2, giving up a refrigerator worth
$1,199. What does she get instead? A washer/dryer set
worth $548. Eh. Yofoldo gets $500 for his efforts.
Now it's time to select for Maribel. There are two
Vitacilina's in front of her. Which one does Yodolfo
select? He selects #2. In #1 was...a Home Depot
certificate worth $1,000. In $2 is...a certificate from
Ikea for...$500. Oops. Leopoldo is 0 for 2 in guesses so
far.
Guillermo breaks up the partnership and tells them that
they can all trade for the big box. Neither of the
ladies want it - and it's a good thing, because inside
is the King of Tratolandia with a big Key to the city of
Chasco.
Now we go to Yodolfe and his $500. Does he want to spend
it for Curtain #3? He decides to spend it and has bought
himself a John Deere lawn mower worth $1,499. At least
he made one good deal - the one for himself.
Princess Snow White Yolanda is up next. We have the
Let's Make a deal Money Machine, which has money, If
it's one dollar, Guillermo will give her $1,000. Does
she want money or the big box? She stays with the money
and gives up a Las Vegas Vacation and $600 in Gas for a
package worth $1,306. That's painful - and even more so
as the machine only spits out $100 for her.
For the next deal, Guillermo calls out the Hunchback of
Notre Dame and Little Orphan Annie. The Hunchback, who's
name is Juan, is given a set of bills with a $50 on each
side. He can take it or Curtain #2 - and whatever he
doesn't get goes to Annie (or her name of Caritina).
Quasimodo keeps the money, while Guillarmo gives
Caritina $300 to not take the curtain. She goes for it
and gets a new kitchen - designed by the Big Bad Wolf.
He have a range covered with cobwebs and a guy with a
Big Bad Wolf mask ready to cook up a Chasco.
Back to Quasimodo, who gets another set of bills - and
another set of $50's. Does he want to trade for Curtain
#3? No he doesn't, and this time we go to the kitchen of
Superchicken, who is making himself some salad as the
Big Bad Wolf is watching for a SuperChasco. Quasimodo
doesn't get that, but he does get $1,000!
Does anyone want more
than $5,000 in goodies? Leopoldo doesn't. Juan doesn't.
Angelina will go for it and so will Maribel. How ironic
is it that the two women who had bad decisions made for
them will be able to make their own?
The bigger question is will they do any better? Angelina
wants door #2 and Maribel wants #3. We start with door
#1, which has $850. Next up...#2, which is a trip to
Cabo San Lucas worth $2,720. Angelina will be going to
Cabo, but Maribel will be going to the Gran Trato with
carpeting and a new living room featuring a sofa and
tables. Maribel carts off $5,119 worth of goodies, which
is good, because now she can rest from all of this
excitement. |

leaves with $2,000. And Bobby leaves with $6,000.
Now, this season...and if Desiree wins a car in the

contact WOF within
24 hours...the car is theirs. She lands on the 1 in
$100,000. Her
category tonight is PHRASE. With the normal 6 of RSTLNE
and her choices
of CBMA we have:

lost a BMW Z4 Convertible...and so did a Wheel Watcher.
She leaves with
$23,300. And we see the host of Australia's Wheel of
Fortune Rob Elliott
and clips of the Australian Version...see you tomorrow! |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by
Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |

We go from an excited
contestant who won $100,000 yesterday to one that's more
relaxed today.
Jack Jackson (North Brunswick, NJ) has his own business
where he works long 16-hour days, so apparently, he sees
the hot seat as a place to sit and relax. We'll see how
relaxed Jack can remain as the game progresses. The
first question asks what the Credit Card Currency
Dispenser was a forerunner to, and he knows that it's an
ATM machine (though I bet some teenagers would rather
use their mom's purse as such). A few questions later,
including one where Jack correctly identifies the colon
as the punctuation mark commonly used to represent eyes
in an e-mail "smiley face", and he gets to this $4,000
question...
In 2005, Martha Stewart sparked a minor fashion craze
when she was released from prison wearing what
accessory?
A: Aviator sunglasses
B: Knit poncho
C: Floppy hat
D: Charm necklace
[What, no ankle bracelet? :P]
Jack decides to ask the audience, and they come through
with 85% of the studio audience saying B, and 45% of the
AIM users agreeing. Jack goes with them... and they're
right! Another question later, and he gets this for
$16,000...
Topping the British charts in 2005, Crazy Frog's "Axel
F" is the first hit song to be based on what unusual
source?
A: Animal mating call
B: Cell phone ringtone
C: Video game sound effects
D: Car alarms
The 50:50 is used, and B and C are the remaining
choices. Jack is leaning towards B, but he doesn't seem
sure enough, so he asks to call Lisa, a family friend.
Lisa (with some assistance from her son, it seems) is
90% sure that it's B, so he goes with it... and gets
$16,000! However, when going for $25,000, Jack
incorrectly guesses that the code names for First
Daughters Jenna and Barbara Bush used by the Secret
Service are Frisbee and Flamingo (they're actually
Twinkle and Turquoise). At least Jack has $1,000,
though.
The next contestant is Ikie Holder (Midlothian, TX). He
has an interesting name, and he was named after his
father's nickname. And yet, his father was nicknamed
after a mule. That's what he said. Anyway, Ikie begins
by knowing that the kids' song with the line "Here a
quack, there a quack, everywhere a quack-quack" is "Old
MacDonald" (does the theme from "Dr. Phil" even have
lyrics?). He then proceeds through some more questions,
including one where he figures out that a camel is an
animal with an extra set of eyelids to keep sand out of
its eyes, and he gets to $4,000.
And time is up for today. We'll be seeing more of Ikie
tomorrow. |
