100 Mexicanos Dijeron by Jason Hernandez, GSNN

Air time: 7p ET/6p CT on Telefutura
Host: Marco Antonio Regil

Buenos noches, and welcome to tonight’s show! Last night saw the Pulido family set a one-day record with $310,000 pesos in total winnings, including two Dinero Rapido wins. They will face the winner of the first half of the show, and here are the families:

Avila: Luis, Marisela, Rodrigo, Victor, y Marissa

Rangel: Ricardo, Miryam, Sergio, Karina, y Maria

Vamos a jugar! Round one, and 5 answers on the board: Name something a fortune teller uses. After a few seconds, Ricardo buzzes in with “las cartas/tarot” as the #1 answer. The next family members get the next 3 answers before striking out, leaving the #5 answer up for grabs. The Avila family try to steal the bank with tea, but that doesn’t work out, and the Rangel family jumps out to a 90-0 lead! Here is the board:

  1. las cartas/tarot (tarot cards) – 52
  2. leer la mano (palm reading) – 20
  3. bola de crystal (crystal ball) – 13
  4. el café (coffee) – 5
  5. “De Tin Marin” (?!?) – 3

Second round also has 5 answers on the board: Name a bad trait in a person? Marisela swung and missed, so then Miryam took control with the #4 answer of “insegura” (or uncertain). The next three family members then got the #5 answer, “perdedora” (loser), the #1 answer, “mediocre,” and the #3 answer, “fracasada” (failure). After Ricardo gave a wrong answer, Marco Antonio joked around with the director, and we could hear him off-camera! After that, two more strikes appeared on the board, giving the Avilas a chance to steal with “bueno para nada” (nothing good). But that wasn’t up there, and the Rangels now have a 147-0 lead! The #2 answer was “conformista.” Now on to round three. Vamos a jugar!

6 answers are on the board to this question: “Menciona una divercion que puedes en contrar en una playa turistica.” (Translation: Name an activity you can do at a tourist beach) Rogrigo buzzed in with the #4 answer of “nadar” (swim), and then Sergio tried to gain control with sunbathe, but that wasn’t up there! The Avilas gain control now, and they get answers #1 to 5 before getting three strikes in a row. Now the Rangels have a chance to steal the bank of 59 points with the #6 answer. However, parasailing was not on the board, and the Avila family is on the board! Here are the answers:

  1. banana (banana boat) – 16
  2. voleibol (volleyball) – 12
  3. motos acuaticas (water bikes) – 11
  4. nadir (swim) – 10
  5. surfear (surf) – 10
  6. lanchas (boats) – 6

After three rounds, the Rangel family is winning 147-59. By the way, we have people from Haiti in the audience! Welcome to them! Here we go with the fourth round where the points are doubled! 4 answers on the board to this question: Name a characteristic of a Japanese person. Victor quickly buzzes in with the #1 answer of “ojos rasgados” (closed eyes) worth 64 points. The rest of the family sweeps the board with “color de piel” (skin color), “kimono,” and “son delgadas” (thin), each response worth 4 points, 8 doubled. 152 points are added to the Avilas’ score giving them a 211-147 lead now! We now move onwards to “quinto round! Vamos a jugar!”

The points are now tripled as the top 4 answers are on the board to this question: Name an animal that reproduces quickly. Marissa buzzes in with the #1 answer of “conejos” (rabbits), and after the Avila family get the #2 answer of “cucarachas” (cockroaches), they quickly strike out and give the Rangel family a very good chance to win the game with two answers left! They answer “arenas” (spiders)…but that wasn’t up there! This gives the Avila family the win, 376-147! Here was the board:

  1. conejos (rabbits) – 36
  2. cucarachas – 19
  3. hormigas (ants) – 11
  4. batas (bats) – 10

Victor takes first shot at Dinero Rapido, and he earns 101 points for his good work, including something you don’t do around children, “fumar” worth 37 (smoking). However, Luis was unable to capitalize as 4 of his 5 answers earned 2-7 points. They ended up with 156 total points and will now face the intimidating Pulido family in the second part of the show! Once again, let’s introduce the Pulido family! There is Anita, Maggie, Guillermo, Fer, and Maria Elena.

After the first round, the Pulido family got off to a quick lead, 49-0.

Round two asked what top 6 important people are around the president. The Avila family got off to a great start, getting all the answers, except #5. The Pulido family tried to steal, but didn’t get it, giving the Avilas the 78 point bank! Here was how the board looked:

  1. senadores (senators) – 20
  2. diputados (deputies) – 18
  3. gobernadores (governors) – 15
  4. secretario de estado (state secretary) – 15
  5. su esposa (First Lady!) – 12
  6. otro presidente (other presidents/presidents from other countries) – 10

Round three had 6 answers and this question asked 100 KIDS: “Nombra un animal aquatico que se…” BZZZ! Eep! Guillermo jumped the gun and after much hesitation said “delfin” (dolphin). That was the number one answer! The whole question asked what kind of aquatic animal is portrayed in cartoons. After Fer and Maria got answers #3 and #4, Anita answered the always popular answer, “La mas popular? Un perro!”

Marco Antonio then proceeded to repeat, “Animal aquatico!” Anita insisted there was such a thing as a seadog…and Marco then tried to act out a sea dog! After much fun and embarrassment, two strikes were on the board! Then Guillermo proceeded to give an equally funny answer, “La sirenita!” (a mermaid?!?) Once again, Marco Antonio repeated, “Si…animal aquatico…” Guillermo also insisted that a mermaid was a sea animal, and as Marco Antonio was making fun and laughing while seeing if the answer was up there….there it was at #2! Marco was so red-faced that he was bowing down to Guillermo saying, “Es Buena repuesta!” (Good answer!) After Fer gave the #6 answer, the Pulido family got their third strike. The Avilas tried to steal with “cangerjo” (crab), but that was not the #5 answer, and the Pulido family wins another round nabbing 77 more points! Here was the board:

  1. delfin (dolphin) -- 24
  2. sirenita (mermaid) – 17
  3. pez (fish) – 16 (Buscando a Nemo!)
  4. ballena (whale) – 13
  5. tortuga (turtle) – 8
  6. pulpo (squid) – 7

After three rounds, the Pulido family leads 126-78! Here we go with round 4 and the points are doubled! 4 answers are on the board asking to name something in tennis. The Pulidos gain control with the #2 answer, and then Maria gets the #1 answer! After two strikes, Guillermo gets the #4 answer! If they get this last one, they will win it all! However, the Pulidos miss and give the Avila family a chance to steal with the number three answer…and they nail it! The Avilas successfully steal 200 points and now take a 278-126 lead! Here was how the board looked:

  1. forma de agarrar la raqueta (holding the racket) -- 40
  2. pegarle a la pelota (hitting the ball) -- 32
  3. las reglas (the rules) -- 20
  4. el saque (the serve) – 8

Now it’s time for the fifth round where the points are tripled! 3 answers on the board: name a bad characteristic when you are bringing up someone. (At least that’s the gist of it) Maria buzzed in with “corriente” at #3, but then Marissa nailed the #1 answer! Almost right away, Luis finished it off with the #2 answer, and that wins the game! The Avilas take another 201 points with this board:

  1. grosero (rude) -- 32
  2. naco (filthy) -- 18
  3. corriente (common) – 17

The Avilas win the game 479-126, and they move on to the big Dinero Rapido round! We must say “Adios” to the Pulido family, but not before congratulating them on winning $310,000 pesos from yesterday’s show! Right now, that is the current record for high winnings in ONE DAY.

Marissa and Victor are teaming up this time to try and win the $200,000 pesos on the big fast money round. But first, let’s see what Marissa can pull out of the candy basket…

…$5000! Not bad! That automatically adds another $5000 pesos to their current grand total giving them $15,000 pesos for the day, so far. Marissa only gets 80 points for her answers, which means Victor needs to do the dirty work here. Here we go…

His first response to a cookie flavor besides chocolate was vanilla…and that was the #1 answer worth a whopping 68 points! Only 52 points to go! However, when he answered 1 liter on the size of a soda bottle, that only garnered 9 points! (Medio-litro, or 500 ml. was #1) After gaining 26 points in the next 2 questions, it came down to the last question to name a part of the clothes that is folded. “Manga” (sleeve) was given as the #1 answer already, and Victor then said “cuello” (neck). He only needed 17 points for the $100,000 pesos… “La…encuesta…dice…”

12 points! Ay! What a heartbreaker! They ended up with 195 points total. Oy, that “Puntos Extra” candy wrapper would have been VERY useful today. However, the Avila family wins $15,000 pesos today, and they will be back tomorrow to try again for the big money! Adios, amigos!

Air time:  Check listings or familyfeud.com
Host: Richard Karn
Hintz (Maj. Jimmy, Marisa, Denise, Doug, Sean) from New Orleans; $995
Smith (Percy, Marilyn, Tennace, Michael, Craig)

Yesterday, the Hintz were off by one lousy point. Today, they go for 200 even.

Round 1: someone you hate getting bad news from (6). Jimmy fires with mother... "A relative", count it! That's number one. Rest of the family chimes in with police officer, boss, the doctor... and that's it. Do the Smiths "got this" with the IRS? Boo-yah! That's worth 87. One other answer: a friend.

Round 2: something people don't like being too lumpy (6). Marisa gets #3, their body. Marilyn hits top of the board with potatoes. Tennace has no idea which answer to go with, so she goes with eggs.. Strike. Michael sends the team back to the winning side with "mattress", while the rest of the family get oatmeal (hot cereal), gravy, ... and pillow for the sweep? Yes! That's 174 for the Smiths!

Double Round: living or dead, the most romantic singer (5). Denise gets #2, old blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. Doug goes with Barry White... only #4? Marvin Gaye's not up there. How about the dude I was named for, where's Dino Paul Crocetti (Dean Martin)? Not there, either. How about Julio Iglesias? Nope. That's three. Will the Smiths get it with Luther, God rest his soul? Number one for 210! Other answers: Usher, Tony Bennett.

As an aside, can you imagine the five of them on one record? That'd be pretty interesting.

Back to the game. Family Feud DVD game now available. Just look for Richard. Triple Round: something a person might lie about on a loan application (4). Michael gets the top score with income. The rest of the family comes through with age and credit history. Can the Hintz get back into the game with "length of residency?" No! The Smiths shut out the champs, 477-0. Other answer: criminal record. The Hintzes leave with $995.

Marilyn & Craig go for the Fast Money. Marilyn's up first...

1) An animal that climbs trees. (monkey)
2) An instrument kids play in the school band. (trumpet)
3) Besides Florida, a state where a lot of retirees live. (Arizona)
4) Something that runs on a schedule. (train)
5) A fruit that comes in more than one color. (apple)

Marilyn gets the number one from "monkey", "train", and "apple" for 154, but can Craig seal the deal? With "Arizona", he can! That's the first $20,000 win of the new season!

Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
David Madden (student orig. from Ridgewood, NJ, now living in Berlin, Germany); $354,701, 15 days
Jennifer Buermann (construction manager from Jersey City, NJ)
Matthew Luter (graduate student orig. from Laurel, MS... stay strong, brother)

Although it's a trick of the light, you may notice that David got a much-needed haircut. Hopefully they didn't take a little off the top of his brain. He starts his fifteenth defense with $1000 Mediterranean Geography. Immediately, he storms back into the swing of things with $6800 to Matthew's $2000 and Jennifer's $600 at the TV time-out.

David wants to hike from the US-Canada border to the Gulf of Mexico. How long? "I'm reckoning about seven months or so." It only takes about nine minutes (including commercial breaks) for David to find the Daily Double under $800 Fruit. With $7800, he bets $1200 on the genus artocarpus, implying that it's starchy. "What is breadfruit?" Right for $9000. He ends with that amount, while Matthew has $4200. Meanwhile, Jennifer, with only $1000, begins the Double round...

... with $400 Novel Characters. Matthew finds the first Daily Double under the $1200 level. With a chance to take the lead, he "makes it true". The clue: the heroine of this 1722 novel is born in Newgate Prison, where her mother is incarcerated. "What is 'Roxanna'?" "Moll Flanders," Matthew, and he gets zapped. The Prime Minister of India for $2000 goes to David, and he can have a field day, betting $3800. All he has to do is identify who wrote "Glimpses of World History", a series of letters to his daughter. "Who is Nehru?" Right on for $16,000. Jennifer hops back into the blue side of $1400, while Matthew has $10,000 of his stash back. But all are put to glorious shame by David's $22,000.

Final Jeopardy! in "The Map of North America": number of Canadian provinces that border the Great Lakes. Correct response: What is one, Ontario?

Two seemed to be a popular answer, but David knew better. He tacks on another $23,999, giving him a sweet-sixteen total of $378,700.

Lingo by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  7p ET/6p CT on GSN
Host: Chuck Woolery
Husband-and-wife Eric (high school English teacher) & Suzanne (fourth-grade teacher, expectant mother)
Fiancées Vicky (waitress) & Todd (web designer)

We got nothing but love today. I feel the love. Do you feel the love?

Vicky & Todd have a chance to capitalize on a) a three-yellow letter stream, and b) an outright blurt over with Eric & Suzanne. The word was SCRAM. And Todd draws red to ruin it. Eric & Suzanne now has a KNACK for the game, scoring the early Lingo, giving them 75 to the Reds' 25. And they get the draw back with TEASE, but Suzanne draws red this time. They get the draw back AGAIN with PACKS, following with MUSHY, and another unwritten rule broken. See, your guesses have to begin with the letter given. Since they were given an E, "angle" would be ruled as a foul, so it's over to Vicky & Todd in EXILE. And speaking of fouls, another red stopper. Eric & Suzanne are really beginning to crack me up, getting DRESS... and another red stopper. That ends the round with Eric & Suzanne leading, 175-50.

Vicky & Todd start the opening word of round 2, but Eric & Suzanne end it with NACHO. Mmm... nachos. They follow with BURNS, and the Lingo, giving them 375 to the Reds' 50. Vicky & Todd begin their fight back to the top with CHOSE, but Eric & Suzanne put a stop to it with FAULT. Waht goes around comes around, as the drum puts a stop to them. Doesn't matter, though, because with 425 to 100, Eric & Suzanne win!

With three Bonus Lingo letters, Eric & Suzanne get NIPPY, SKIRT, WARMS, RIGHT, and BONGO, giving them five. So we got a chance at $5000. But if they pull lucky 13, that's $10,000. Suzanne pulls... 51. Last draw... Six out of nine... Got it! That's $5000 for the baby.

Trato Hecho by Gordon Pepper, GSNN

Air time:  12p ET/11a CT on Univision
Host: Guillermo Huesca
The first deal of the day goes to the farmer and wife couple of Jesus and Linda. Guillermo has $50 for them - and a chance to win a Chrysler PT Cruiser worth $15,995! They will win it if they are good at pricing barbecue starting fluid, Mr. Clean, Blue Coral Upholstery Cleaner and Scrubbing Bubbles. Each product has 3 numbers in front of it. The objective - to get them in the right order. They make the Fluid $2,64, Mr. Clean $2.66, The Blue Coral $6.28 and the Scrubbing Bubbles $2.97.

Are they right? We start with the Fluid, and it's... $2.46. No car, but they can still win money. Mr. Clean is right for $100, but the Blue Coral was $2.68. Yikes. The Scrubbing Bubbles was right, so the couple gets $250.

Guillermo isn't done yet - he offers Curtain #3, which the couple take. They win... a TV and a pair of love seats, worth a total of $2,078. Not a bad consolation prize.

Guillermo has another deal for someone - this time it's Lorena, who looks like a blonde Raggedy Anne. Guillermo gives her Curtain #2 - and then $400 to buy it back. She wants the curtain, but when she sees Franken-Chasco with one of those body builder boardwalk pictures, she'd like to change her mind. She can't, and she gets a cha-cha-Chasco!

We don't want to see any more of those. Instead, we get a tray of three ornamental eggs. Marta the bride and Marco the Indian get to play this game, where there are 3 ornaments egg pots. Marco selects #3 and he is given the chance to trade for the curtain. The chief keeps the ornament and turns down FrankenChasco and a huge hamburger for a Chasco! Behind the egg..$1,000! Nice deal for him!

Now it's back to Marta, who has ornament #2. She can exchange her ornament for curtain #1 - and she does. What's behind her ornament? Another $1,000! She doesn't get that, but she does get FrankenChsco - this time in a big tea cup.

Who wants to go for the Gran Trato? The couple with the $2,000+ bounty doesn't, and neither does Marco, who's very happy with the $1,000. Lorena has a Franken Chasco and a body boardwalk picture, so of course she's going to trade that. Marta has a giant sized Chasco Tea Cup, so she trades that too. For the first time in these recaps, two people who will be going for the Gran Trato are people who got Chascoed!

But will either of them score the Gran Trato? Lorena hopes it's under #1. Marta hopes it's under #3...which it's not, but $800 is there, and she's happy. Next up...#1, where we get a lawn mower, gardening tools, and a storage shed for a total of $2,458. The big one, however, was under #2, where we see a super kitchen with a dinette set, cookware, dishwasher and oven. The total, which no one is getting, is $5,296. Let's see next time if someone can hit it.

Wheel of Fortune by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or wheeloffortune.com
Hosts: Pat Sajak & Vanna White
Wheel Around the World Week continues with Dave Sandler picking up $1000 on the first Rhyme Time toss-up, NAME OF THE GAME. The San Diego resident is Teacher of the Year. Stephanie Diamond is a receptionist from Little Rock, AR, who wants to go to Spain. Michelle Markotsich is a student from University of Illinois-Chicago.

Second toss-up is a living thing. Dave does it again with MOCKINGBIRD. That gives him $3000. He has a chance to win a trip to Shanghai worth $8845 in round 1. It's a phrase. He's one peg short of $10,000, but the bankrupt ends his run. Stephanie's a leftie on a run, but she fails to pay attention to the used letter board, and loses control. Michelle ... falls prey to the same trap that got Dave earlier. Dave gets $450 from WE'RE OFF TO A FLYING START. But because of the new house minimum, that gets bumped to $1000. That gives him $3450 so far.

Wheel Watchers get your Spin ID ready, because it's time for a Prize Puzzle this Jackpot round! Song/Artist, your category. Stephanie gets a $1000 GC from Spafinder.com. Stephanie gets a wrong letter, but Michelle gets a Bankrupt. Seems like Dave is on another run here, solving BEIN' GREEN BY KERMIT THE FROG. That's worth another $1200... and a trip to Ireland! And if you have AV01348, get your butt to Wheeloffortune.com and claim your trip! You have 24...

We still have that $13,185 Kia Rio on offer in the Mystery Round. On the Menu is the category. Michelle starts. She gets bankrupt. She finishes. DAve starts. He gets $3500, but no letters. He finishes. Stephanie lands in Mystery Territory, getting one S for $1000. Will she go for it? No. She keeps the $10... no, wait, she goes for it... and it's the Kia! All she has to do now is solve the puzzle. She goes on a run, exhausting all the vowels, but ending on Lose a Turn. Michelle barely misses Bankrupt as she solves CHOPPED TOMATO AND ONION SALAD for $4200. She's now in the game, but that can change with...

Toss-up #3. They're THINGS. Michelle gets GRASS STAINS for $3000, giving her $7200. But the Speedround's next with On the Map as the category. Final spin comes up... oh check this out, mate, it's $6000 per consonant! It's anyone's game now. Dave gets HARTFORD CONNECTICUT for $12,000, giving him $22,772 and the game. Michelle leaves with $7200, while Stephanie, with no action on her end, gets the house minimum of $1000.

Wheel Watchers, your car moment is nigh. Dave spins the W in WIN, and heads to the Bonus Round. We're dealing with a Thing. Given the usual 6 and CDM O, we get...

_ _ L L
_ O _ N

Stranger things have happened. But not today. Dave misses BALL GOWN... and $30,000. But still, $22,772 in cash and trip is not a bad day's take. We end this show with a look at the Vietnamese Wheel, "Lucky Hat". I can see why.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira
Yesterday, an excited Tom Spencer (Columbus, OH) made it to the $1,000 milestone with all lifelines intact, and after we see brief clips of other excited contestants from past seasons like $1,000,000 winner Kevin Smith and $250,000 winner John Castellano, Tom is ready to continue his climb towards the million. And yes, he's obviously still as excited as he was yesterday.

He also happens to like the music of the show, and after hearing some of it, Tom gets down to business, and uses a process of elimination to deduce that Russian is classified as a Slavic language. Another 4 questions later, including a poker question asking which hand would be considered a full house (3 kings, 2 aces), and Tom makes it to the $25,000 milestone, still with all lifelines intact. And with Switch the Question added, he has 4 lifelines available with 5 questions to go! Could he go all the way, and somehow become more excited? We'll see, as Tom gets this one for $50,000...

Calligrapher Jacob Shallus was paid $30 to pen what historic document?
A: Declaration of Independence
B: U.S. Constitution
C: Articles of Confederation
D: Gettysburg Address

This time, Tom asks the audience, and the studio audience leans toward B with 39%. However, the AIM poll leans toward D with 32%, and there, B was last with 19%. Considering the circumstances, Tom decides to switch the question. Going with the studio audience would have been a good move, though, as it was B. But since he switched, he now gets this...

In the 1600s, philosopher Blaise Pascal devised a famous "wager" concerning what issue?
A: Age of the universe
B: Honesty of mankind
C: Superiority of men
D: Belief in God

Being a philosophy student, Tom immediately knows that it's D. So, with 2 lifelines still available, he moves on to the $100,000 question...

What weather term was coined in a 1939 dissertation by Antarctic explorer Paul Siple?
A: Ice storm
B: Absolute zero
C: Wind chill
D: Cold front

Tom uses the 50:50, which leaves C and D. Still unsure, Tom then decides to use his last lifeline to call Gail, his girlfriend. She's not totally sure, but she picks C. Tom decides to go with her response and say C... and they're right! That's as far as he'll go, though, as he stops due to not knowing what type of verse Dr. Seuss's books are usually written in (it was anapestic tetrameter). But hey, $100,000 is a lot of money, and Tom was a great contestant IMO!

And there's the horn, which means the next contestant will have to wait until tomorrow to get into the hot seat.
