Family Feud by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check local listings or familyfeud.com
Host: John O'Hurley
It's a whole new Feud! It's a whole new set! It's a whole new host! It's a whole new 30th anniversary! Let's get this party started proper!

Black (Holly, Jason, Cheryl, Brady, Megan); $910
Maldonaldo (Celeste, John, Judith, Leonard, Crystal)

We're still playing to 300, and the quest to 300... starts now.

Round 1: a way which you can make bathing a sexy experience (6). Celeste fires with oils... #2. Holly's answer of a bikini? Not there. And too bad for the Maldonados as the best answer they can come up with is a 401K jelly. The Blacks try to steal with candles... #3, giving them 24. The number one: bring a friend. Other answer: rose petals, drink wine, eat fruit.

Round 2: if your cell phone rings while you're at church, who'd better be calling (7)? Jason gets #7, the boss. John's wife is good for #5. Judith's daddy is #2. Leonard's kids are good for #3. Crystal's doctor is #6. But no number one yet, as we go to the Blacks again... "We're at church... God better be callin'." God is #1 (of course), giving the Blacks a 53-point advantage. Other answer: sibling.

Double: 100 women, a place you'd hate to discover you were growing hair (5). Cheryl gets #1, the nose. Chest, back, ears, and toes round out the sweep for 241-0.

Triple: an actor named Kevin (4). Brady gets #3, Kevin Spacey. Leonard... blanks. Megan goes with Kevin Costner for #1! Kevin Bacon and Kevin Kline round out another sweep, giving the Blacks the shutout, 535-0.

(C-Note: Will someone please remind the cinematographer that the scores are now displayed on the big board? Thanks)

Jason and Cheryl try their hand at Fast Money. Jason gets 142. Cheryl stumbles a bit, but gets the rest for $20,000, giving them $20,910.

In the nightcap, the Shedds (Christie, Jill, Bill, Cody, Casey) trail the Davises (Phillip, Jolene, Joanne, Jessica, Monet), 258-0. Triple: an animal that snorts (4). Cody fires with a pig for top answer. Dogs, horses, and bulls also snort to get back in this game with 279.

Sudden Death: something that might fall out when you get older. That's Casey. "Your hair." That's a win for the Shedds, 432-258.

Christie and Cody team up for 151, giving them $755. And if you look quickly, you see the digital readout that tells John how to multiply by five.

Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check local listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
Back for season 23 in the glory of high definition... THIS... IS... JEOPARDY!

Brad Jeffcoat (student from Vidalia, GA); $16,400
Lauren Hirs (market research analyst orig. from Plano, TX)
Dan Cordova (sales representative from Santa Ana, CA)

Brad had a whole summer to think about this next game. Let's see if he can deliver the goods.

After a beautifully played, and beautiful looking, first half of the round, Brad leads with $800 to Lauren and Dan's $1200 a pop.

Last clue belongs to Brad, as he gets the Daily Double, $1000 in State Insects. With $7000 of gambling money to Dan's $5200 and Lauren's $3800, he bets $2500 on this: it's tough to separate church & state in Connecticut while having this as state insect. "What is... I have no idea." It's the preying mantis, as Brad drops to second with $4500, while Lauren, still in third, gets first pickings of the board in Double Jeopardy!...

... with $400 Mother Russia, where we find Cheryl delivering the clues. It's also where Dan finds the first Daily Double, a video under $1600. He bets $6000, almost all of his money. Here's Cheryl: "I'm here in the town originally called 'Tsarskoe Selo', which in 1937 was renamed for this Russian poet." "What is Gorky?" Not right, as Pushkin drops him like a bad habit to $400. Brad finds the other Daily Double under $2000 You Do the Math. He bets only half the level on 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/10 + 1/15. "What is 1/30?" Should've stopped at 1. He drops to $8300. That's where he ends the round, as Lauren leads, $15,400 to Dan's $2000.

Final Jeopardy! in "Plants": in tropical Africa it's the main source of calories in the diet; in the US it gives us a pudding. Correct question: what is tapioca?

Brad gets it right to double up. Lauren, though, also gets it right and bets enough to win with $16,601 and becoming our first champ this season.

¿Qué Dice La Gente? by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  7p ET/6p CT on Telefutura
Host: Marco Antonio Regil
Today, monsters of urban music take on the masters of Univision Radio... But first, another VIP matchup between...

Housewives (Monica, Jenny, Alexandra, Marina, Claudia)
Bodybuilders (Frank, Heyner, Miguel, Carlos, Alex)

Housewives aren't so desperate as they lead after four, 217 to 109.

Triple Round: other than a mosquito, an insect that flies (3). Claudia gets the obvious answer, a fly. A bee and a butterfly do it for the housewives, 412-109. Sisters are doing it for themselves.

Dinero Rápido: Monica and Claudia step up. Monica gets 107. Claudia gets only 83 more, giving the team $500.

Now the marquee matchup...

Música Urbana (Ivy Queen, Cheka, Johnny of Crooked Stilo, Victor of Crooked Stilo, DJ Panic), playing for the American Foundation for the Blind
Univision Radio (El Piolin, Javier Romero, Raul Brindis, Roxana, Kazzanova); playing for the American Cancer Society

So far, the DJs are spanking the artists, 230-0, after three rounds. Double: something that falls out of bed in the middle of the night. Roxana falls out of bed for number one. Pillows and blankets are good for the sweep and the shutout, 428-0.

Raul is first at the Dinero Rápido board, as we don't even bother with the lucky table this week. Raul gets 74. Roxana gets ... only up to 108. They get $500 for their charity.

Stump the Schwab by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  7p ET/6p CT on ESPN Classic
Host: Stuart Scott & Howie Schwab
Brian "B-Stroh" Stroh (tax accountant from Somers, NY)
Mark Cohen (father of 13-year-old from Fort Worth, TX)
Joe "The Mighty Putner" Putnam (student from Bellefonte, PA; returnee from season 2)
Schwab's Jackpot: $4000

Leading Off: the Hurricanes... and the other 15 NHL playoff teams lead us off. Mark is flush after 3. Joe runs us out with 5 to Brian and Schwab's 4 a piece. Next, AL/NL Managers of the Year since 1996. Schwab, 8, Joe, 7, Mark, 6, Brian, 5. Finally, 24 players in NBA history averaging 30+ PPG in a season. That round gives Schwab 15. Joe has 9 and Brian has 11. Mark... I think I hear a 13-year-old calling.

Who's Got More?: round 1 ends with Joe knowing more about NFL/AFL passers than Brian knew about NFL/AFL rushers, as he leads, 13-12. No one's gotten one wrong yet. Round 2... MLB career wins or career saves. Brian bumps his score to 36 on career wins. Joe needs 12 to win in career saves. He gets... 10. Final score: 36-33 in favor of Brian!

The Schwab Showdown: The categories are... The Air Up There (really tall NBA players), Tight Squeeze (NFL tight ends), Hab a Nice Day (Le Canadiens du Montreal... pardon my sucky French), and On Your Marks (Olympic sprinters).

Brian gets his first strike on On Your Marks for 1. Other than that, the Schwab manages to eat another opponent alive thanks to a 7'5" NC State sub. Schwab wins, 12-11.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Air time:  Check local listings or millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira
Millionaire is back for Season 5 in syndication! Only one change this time around; no more AOL Instant Messenger results when a player asks the audience. With that out of the way, let's go!

Starting things off today is Nishi St. John (Friendswood, TX). She's currently a stay-at-home mom, but she used to be a civil engineer. There, she was overseeing the construction of fire stations and ferry terminals. But she feels that dealing with 2 boys at home is a lot harder. I think a million bucks might make things just a bit easier. So, with that, Nishi gets things going by knowing that in a common saying taught to parrots, Polly is asked if she "wants a cracker". She sweeps the lower tier to secure $1,000, then soon faces this...

[$4,000]
When accepting an Oscar for acting in 2006, what triple nominee joked "All right, so I'm not winning director"?
A: Philip Seymour Hoffman
B: George Clooney
C: Terrence Howard
D: Paul Giamatti

Nishi decides to ask the audience, and 86% of them says B. She trusts them... and they're right! Moving on...

[$8,000]
Due to gas prices, bike sales in 2005 approached records set during the Arab oil embargo of what decade?
A: 1990s
B: 1980s
C: 1970s
D: 1960s

The 50:50 leaves B and C. Nishi guesses C... and it's C! Next question...

[$16,000]
What TV drama shares its title with a 1965 hit song popularized by R&B singer Fontella Bass?
A: Rescue Me
B: Without a Trace
C: One Tree Hill
D: Big Love

Nishi knows that A is the name of a song, but she isn't sure if it's also the name of a show. With that in mind, she calls her good friend, Riddi, but she doesn't really know. After a bit more thought, Nishi decides to walk with $8,000. And it turns out that it was indeed A.

Next up is Jason Vernier (San Diego, CA), who enters in his Navy uniform. He's a water survival instructor, which means he trains others in the Navy and the Marines on how to survive various water-based situations. The thing is, his 2 biggest fears are heights... and water. Um, yeah. Anyway, Jason starts by knowing that an adjective that is often used to describe manual-labour jobs is "blue-collar" (though I bet some of them would consider themselves underpaid as well). He completes the lower tier, then soon has this to ponder...

[$4,000]
Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn first began denying they were an item while working together on what 2006 movie?
A: Friends With Money
B: The Lake House
C: Just My Luck
D: The Break-Up

Jason asks the audience, and an overwhelming 95% has voted for D. He goes with that... and it's D! Next question...

[$8,000]
A Sinologist specializes in the study of what nation's history, language, and culture?
A: China
B: India
C: Italy
D: France

Jason doesn't know, so after some consideration of what to do, he calls John, known to him as Lt. Champaign. The lieutenant says Japan at first, but seeing as that's not a choice, he says he's 80-90% sure that it's A. Jason trusts him... and he's right!

And that will do it for the first show of the new season. Jason will be back tomorrow.
