"Now That's a Reward: Night 7-Day 9" - October 7
Night 7: Okay... Who voted out Mia?
One of these things is not
like the others, one of these things just doesn't
belong. Here's who voted for Mia: Scout, Twila, Leann,
Ami, and Lisa. If you called Lisa as an oddball... give
yourself a cookie. She and Eliza fight it out over her
treachery, all the while Eliza doesn't even keep secret
the fact that she voted out Dolly in the last Tribal
Council, using it as fuel for the fire. Lisa's only
defense, a tired offense: "I did what I did. I'm not
going to argue with you. I told you I didn't trust you!"
Needless to say at our happy little Yasur camp, even
amongst the young ones alliance, trust is at an all time
low. I wonder who'll backstab who next.
Twila decides to hold a
unity party, citing that the only way the men are going
to go down in glorious defeat is if they work as one.
Eliza would be thrilled at the prospect of total
unity... if it weren't for Lisa.
it's Tree Mail time
on... Day 8: Why are there so many songs about
rainbows?
|
So you think
you're living like the natives? But are they as
hungry or as cold?
Frustrated by your lack of food? Your shivering must
be getting old.
Well put your minds together, and maybe you'll
discover,
Help is on the way, and you'll find it undercover. |
And after the bickering
of last night, the tribe sees a rainbow, and sees it as
an omen for victory. Can I get a mic? (someone hands me
a mic) Thank you.
"... Someday we'll find
it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers and
me."
R/I-CHALLENGE:
Remember This? (for 24 hours with a genuine Vanuatu
tribesman named Dah)
Fifteen pairs of items
are hidden under 30 cones. First team to match five
pairs wins. The men keep giving away match after match,
allowing Lisa to dance her way (again) to victory. Call
it Dance Dance Survivor, as the women inherit the native
tribesman.
Oh, did we mention that
Dah does not know one stink of English? Good luck,
ladies. He doesn't follow the tribe back to Camp Yasur,
instead going the route of kings... the canoe.
Back at camp: You may
dispense with the pleasantries. I've come to get you
back on schedule.
Dah arrives at camp.
Because I happen to know a few things about what
tribesmen say and do having covered seven of these
before, I will translate the next goings-on. The ladies
welcome Dah with open arms. He says not a word and
instead goes right to work, climbing a tree and grabbing
some fruit to eat. Apparently this is a gesture of
assistance as he offers some to the tribe in waiting.
Afterwards, he continues with taro roots and sugarcane,
which our ladies don't believe that they have.
Ami notices that our new
friend has to talk with his hands a lot. How's that make
him any different from anyone in my family?
Meanwhile, Dah takes the
machete and properly cracks open a coconut for his new
friends, inviting them to take a drink. Either he knows
that unprocessed coconut milk has a potent laxative
effect, or he's very content in getting the runs a lot.
In any event, Lisa says that Dah is a blessing, while
Ami says that he will build up their lost confidence and
morale. "He was like a big breath of fresh air."
But for truth and trust,
you need Dr. Phil.
Night 8: Home
improvement with Dah.
Now that we have food
taken care of, it's time for shelter. Dah takes some
fronds and some bark and crafts them into a formfitting
mattress. It's no Posturepedic, but in the middle of
Vanuatu, what is?
But there is no time for
sleep, as he leads the women out to the shore to hunt
for crabs. Unfortunately, the tide is too high for crabs
to jump out and bite anyone. Scout is in awe at
connecting with another culture. She says the tribesman
has been very gracious in sharing his knowledge. She
believes Yasur has had a wonderful day and some wounds
have been healed. "I think our tribe just came back
together."
But have they?
Day 9: "*Here's a
crab!*"
After Dah manages to
find some meat products, we say our goodbyes to our new
friend in song...
He has no idea what it
means, but he agrees. Two or three of them need to hire
lawyers and sue their teachers. Leann echoes the
sentiments in that this is a morale booster.
We'll see how big of a
morale booster it is... right now! Tree mail!

Many hands make
light work, or so the saying goes
Fail to put your minds together and add to your
tribe's woes
In a test of mental ability, it's anybody's game
Tribal Council for the losers; one more will lose
their flame |
Eliza points out that
she is the target for tribal should they lose...
I-CHALLENGE: Grid
Runners
Simple enough brain
teaser if you know how to work it. I'll demonstrate with
this grid using four colors and four show logos from the
Shorts pages.
The object is to arrange
the grid's symbols so that no color or symbol appears on
the same row or column twice. First team to do that wins
immunity.
Rory is spotter for the
men... and can't do jack. Eliza figures out the pattern
to solve the puzzle and, as a result, the women take the
Pike of Power away from the men, sending the Lopevi to
Tribal and, ultimately, Brady to certain doom.
How did Eliza do it?
Simple... Diagonals. That's all I'll say. Don't want to
ruin it for you. |
