Semifinals: Greene/Schultz/Feitel
November 16
Last week, fifteen of the best Jeopardy! players over the last year gave it their best shot one more time. Now only nine remain - the five winners plus the four wild-cards - and it's win or go home. At stake, a place in Thursday & Friday's two-part final.

The winner will receive $250,000 and join the ranks of previous ToC winners in quiz immortality.

First runner-up will win an additional $100,000, while second runner-up will pocket $50,000. All semifinalists - the five preliminary match winners and four wild-card qualifiers who scored the highest amongst non-winners - will get $10,000.

Daily Double: $800 American Place Names. John has $1200 to Dan's $200. Kerry yet to make a move. John is going all-in on this: the name of this Minnesota waterfall is Dakota for "Waterfall"; Longfellow named a Native American woman for it. "What is Hiawatha?" No, it's Minnehaha, leaving him with nothing.

Daily Double #1: $2000 What A Beast! Dan has $9400 to Kerry's $5200. John is still in the hole. Dan goes #Wager4000 on this: bigger than jerseys, this UK cow breed from its own isle produces lots of slightly yellowish milk. "What is Hereford?" No, it was Guernsey, dropping him to $5400.

Daily Double #2: $800 He Was the Pope... Kerry has the lead with $9200 to $7400 for Dan. John has $1800. She bets $3000 on this: when the Arab Spring pro-democracy protests began in Tunisia. "Who was Benedict XVI?" That would've been right, but she said "Benedict XXVI". She drops to $6200.

At the end of Double Jeopardy!...

#WINORGOHOME

- John wins if... he bets it all and is correct, while his two opponents are wrong.
- Kerry wins if... she bets it all and is correct, while Dan is wrong. A correct answer with a bet of $3001 will lock John out.
- Dan wins if... he bets $5801 and is correct.

Final Jeopardy! category: CITIES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

A HANSEATIC CITY, THIS PORT OF 1.8 MILLION IS THE LARGEST EUROPEAN UNION CITY THAT'S NOT A CAPITAL

Correct response: what is Hamburg?

John's response: what is Hamburg? RIGHT. Wager: $600. Total: $6000.
Kerry's response: what is Hamburg? RIGHT. Wager: $5400. Total: $12,800
Dan's response: what is Marseilles? WRONG. Wager doesn't matter.

FINALIST: Kerry Greene

It was anyone's to win, and Kerry backed into a spot in the final by virtue of a Final Jeopardy! brain-fart on Dan's part.

But who will join her? Find out tomorrow!
