Last April, 15 of America's
best and brightest teenagers descended upon Sony
Pictures Studios in LA. But they weren't there to see a
concert featuring the newest summer jam... They were
there to play Jeopardy! for big money and bigger
bragging rights. At stake, $75,000 and the title of 2014
Jeopardy! Teen Champion.
Teenagers from across the
country have tried out by the boatload by taking "The
Test" online at Jeopardy.com. Now the best 15 of them
have come together at the Sony stages in Los Angeles to
compete for $75,000 and the right to be called this
season's Teen Champion. Second place gets $25,000. Third
gets $15,000. Semifinalists who make it to week 2 will
receive $10,000. All of this week's players will receive
$5000 and the all new edition of Classroom Jeopardy! for
their schools. All money will be determined, as always,
by how far the players go in the tournament.
This is a standard two-week affair, meaning that all 15
will play this week, with the five game winners joining
the four highest-scoring non-winners in a win-or-go-home
race to the two-day final.
Cooper Lair & Selena Groh
have their tickets punched for next week. In the next
30, we will know who will definitely NOT be sticking
around for next week.

Français. William just got out of the hole with $600 on the fifth clue of the
round to Nikki's $1200. He bets the $600 on this: rue a sens unique is this type
of street. "What is a one-way street?" FOR THE DOUBLER, $1200!

Daily Double #1: $2000
European Geography. William ($10,800) has twice
Nikki's total. He wagers $2000 on this: in
north-central Italy, you'll find another country
altogether, the tiny republic of this. "What is
Vatican City?" No, it was San Marino, leaving him
with $8800, but he can make it up...
Daily Double #2: $1200 10 Years Ago:
2004. William tries $2000 again on this: at the Democratic National Convention,
these 2 Johns got the nod as the 2004 ticket. "Who is John Kerry & John McCain?"
John McCain's a Republican. You wanted John Edwards. He's down to $6800.

Correct response: who is Katniss

Eileen's response: who is Katniss Everdeen? RIGHT. Wager: $1399. Total:
$2799.
Nikki's response: who is Li...? WRONG. Wager: $8200. Total:
$2800.
William's response: who is Katniss Everdeen? RIGHT. Wager doesn't matter.
SEMIFINALIST:
William Golden
Living proof
that sometimes it's not how you start, but how you
finish, as William goes from sub-zero to today's hero,
especially with a late-game surge after two disastrous
Daily Doubles in the Double Jeopardy! round. Meanwhile,
thanks to the final, Nikki, who forgot that the point of
this week is to get to next week, finds herself on the
outside looking in.
We will have
your first two wild cards tomorrow.
