Last April, 15 of America's
best and brightest teenagers descended upon Sony
Pictures Studios in LA. But they weren't there to see a
concert featuring the newest summer jam... They were
there to play Jeopardy! for big money and bigger
bragging rights. At stake, $75,000 and the title of 2014
Jeopardy! Teen Champion.
Teenagers from across the
country have tried out by the boatload by taking "The
Test" online at Jeopardy.com. Now the best 15 of them
have come together at the Sony stages in Los Angeles to
compete for $75,000 and the right to be called this
season's Teen Champion. Second place gets $25,000. Third
gets $15,000. Semifinalists who make it to week 2 will
receive $10,000. All of this week's players will receive
$5000 and the all new edition of Classroom Jeopardy! for
their schools. All money will be determined, as always,
by how far the players go in the tournament.
This is a standard two-week affair, meaning that all 15
will play this week, with the five game winners joining
the four highest-scoring non-winners in a win-or-go-home
race to the two-day final.
But first, we start with game 1.

appointed an honorary konzertmeister at the Salzburg Court. "Who is Mozart?" FOR

Daily Double #1: $800
American History. Cooper still has the lead with
$8400. He bets $2000 on this: in 1916 German
saboteurs blew up a New Jersey munitions depot,
sending shrapnel into this nearby landmark's gown.
"What is the Statue of Liberty?" Right for $10,400!
Daily Double #2: $1600 Reading List.
Josiah has $800, but Kat just stormed into the lead with $17,200 to Cooper's
$11,600. Josiah bets the max of $2000 on this: this Dickens character is
mentioned in the first line of "The Catcher in the Rye". "Who is Oliver Twist?"
No, it's David Copperfield, leaving him with -$1200.
At the end of Double Jeopardy!...

THIS TERM COMES
FROM A 1529 EVENT IN WHICH A GROUP OF LUTHERANS FORMALLY DISAGREED WITH A

Correct response: what is
Protestantism?
Cooper's response: what is Protestantism? CORRECT. Wager: $7700. Total:
$20,500.
Kat's response: what is Reformation? WRONG. Wager: $6000. Total:
$14,400.
SEMIFINALIST:
Cooper Lair
Kat could
still see action next week, but in a tete-a-tete like we
saw today, anything could have happened. Cooper's
correct response gives him the edge so far this
tournament.
Three more
teens tomorrow.
