Semifinals: Block/Vazquez/Crouch
February 6

The last five games saw teenagers from all across the country square off in a battle royale in the grand tradition of their gladiatorial forbearers to see who would emerge triumphant in the great quiz show wars of the 21st century. Now nine remain in the hunt for the coveted trophy and $75,000.

Second place gets $25,000. Third gets $15,000. Semifinalists who make it to this week will receive a guarantee of $10,000. All tournament participants will receive the all new edition of Classroom Jeopardy! for their schools. All money will be determined, as always, by how far the players go in the tournament.

This is week 2 of the standard two-week affair, meaning that the five game winners and the four wild-cards will meet to compete for a spot in the two-day final. Basically, it's win or go home.

Game 1 of the semifinals...

GAME 5 WiNNER

Jeopardy! round...

HEY, I JUST

THIS IS CRAZY BUT HERE'S
MY NUMBER
SO CALL ME MAY "B" YEAH,
WE WENT THERE

Daily Double: $400 Yeah, We Went There. Irene has a narrow lead of $200, $2200 to Barrett's $2000. William has $1200. She decides to wager it all on this: made it to the top of 22,600-foot Ojos del Salado, one of the highest peaks in this mountain range. "What are the Andes?" FOR THE DOUBLER, $4400!

At the end of Jeopardy!...

$3,800 $9,200 $4,400
Barrett Irene William

Double Jeopardy! round...

HAPPY 100th
BIRTHDAY,
FEDERAL RESERVE
VOCABULARY ART & ARTISTS I SAW THAT
ON TV
SLICES OF
ORANGE
ANATOM"E"

Daily Double #1: $1600 Anatom"E". Barrett has $5000 (half of Irene's total). "Alex, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'm all in." Here's your clue: this other name for the auditory tube honors an Italian anatomist. "What is the Eustachian tube?" FOR THE DOUBLER AND A SHARE OF THE LEAD, $10,000!

Daily Double #2: $2000 Art & Artists. After a line-ruling in Barrett's favor, he has $16,000 and the honor on this clue. He bets $4000 on this: the last work of this recorder of Parisian nightlife was "An Examination at the Faculty of Medicine" in 1901. "Who is Lautrec?" ... They're going to count it for Toulouse-Lautrec, giving him $20,000.

At the end of the round...

$26,400 $14,000 $8,000
Barrett Irene William

Let's go to the book for this...

- William wins if Barrett & Irene bet against each other and both are wrong.
- Irene wins if she bets $12,401 and forces Barrett into having to get it right to win.
- Barrett wins if he bets $1601 and is correct.

Final Jeopardy! category: FAMOUS ASIANS

WHEN THIS DIPLOMAT MET THE SINGER PSY IN 2012, HE SAID, "UNTIL 2 DAYS AGO...I WAS THE MOST FAMOUS KOREAN IN THE WORLD"

Correct response: who is Ban Ki-moon?

William's response: who is Kyi? WRONG. Wager: $8000. Total: $0.
Irene's response: who is Kim Jon Un? WRONG. Wager: $13,900. Total: $100.
Barrett's response: who is Ban Ki-moon? CORRECT. Wager doesn't matter.

FINALIST: Barrett Block

Barrett had control of this game from start to finish. He could be a force to be reckoned with in the final next week. But now... two challengers await.
