It's perhaps the hardest part-time job that any teenager could have... but at the same time, it's the most lucrative. Instead of enough for a used car and some gas to put in it, we're talking $75,000.

Teenagers from across the country have tried out by the boatload by taking "The Test" online at Jeopardy.com. Now the best 15 of them have come together at the Sony stages in Los Angeles to compete for $75,000 and the right to be called this season's Teen Champion. Second place gets $25,000. Third gets $15,000. Semifinalists who make it to week 2 will receive $10,000. All of this week's players will receive $5000 and the all new edition of Classroom Jeopardy! for their schools. All money will be determined, as always, by how far the players go in the tournament.

This is a standard two-week affair, meaning that all 15 will play this week, with the five game winners joining the four highest-scoring non-winners in a win-or-go-home race to the two-day final.

So far, Kelton Ellis has his ticket punched for next week's shows. One of these people will join them.

Jeopardy! round...

Daily Double: $800 Near the End of the Century. Nilai is on $3400 and the lead. He bets $1000 on this: in 1799 the Rosetta Stone was found in this country. "What is Egypt?" CORRECT FOR $4400!

At the end of Jeopardy!...

Double Jeopardy! round...

Daily Double #1: $1600 India. Nilai bets $2200 of his $8200 on this: the waters of the Palk Strait separate India's Tamil Nadu state from this island nation. "What is Sri Lanka?" Correct for $10,400.

Daily Double #2: $2000 Around the White House with Alex. Nilai could score the trifecta with this clue, leading at $12,400. He bets $1000 on this from Alex... "The kids from last year's teen tourney went, too; here we all are on this "directional" part of the property." "What is the South Lawn?" CORRECT for $13,400!

At the end of Double Jeopardy!...

Katie's response: what are Girl Scout cookies? CORRECT. Wager: $1400. Total: $13,800.

This was Nilai's game from start to finish. Three more games like that, and he could be on the easy street to $75,000. Don't count out Katie, though. She earned that much with ZERO help.
