Final Swarm
and Coronation
December 20
This is the home stretch
of the battle. Who will prevail? Is it: Blake Shelton and his Oklahoma
City Yard Dawgz, Nick Lachey and his Cincy Big Red Machine, or Patti
Labelle and her Philadelphia Wings? All will be revealed in a matter
of 2 hours time. Ladies & Gentlemen, this is the finale of CLASH....OF
THE CHOIRS!
Getting things started is
all of the choirs doing a holiday medley. Team Labelle is up doing
Sleigh Ride," Team Bolton does "Winter Wonderland" next, "Jingle Bell
Rock" goes to Team Rowland, and then after that, Team Lachey doing
"Let It Snow." (not the one by Boyz II Men) Finally, Team Shelton
doing "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree" before all choirs sung out
"Merry Christmas." Under the tree, $250,000 for one choir.
Team Shelton will kick the
battle off first doing "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang. Facts about
these guys:
-
"Celebration" is the most
requested wedding song
-
"Jungle Boogie" was
featured in NCAA March Madness 06
-
J.T. Taylor wasn't in the
group until 1979
It was more soulful, and
added some extra measure. Anthony Brannon told us a story about the
nickname, "Big Love." Not real love, not Rossi Morreale love, "Big
Love."
Team Labelle is up doing
"No More Drama" by Mary J. Blige. Facts about the diva and this song:
-
This song samples the
theme to the soap opera "The Young & The Restless"
-
Her old label, Uptown
featured Sean "Diddy" combs who worked there before he was famous
-
"What's the 411?" was her
first album
It killed it like a
perfect game of "Duck Hunt." Get it, dog! For this show, Mary
Elizabeth Fitzpatrick lost her daughter and her joy and then her
singing in this show made history.
Well, that's our
finalists. But what about the eliminated? Well, we got 'em here.
That's coming up, but Tracy Morgan is in the building to make his
pick. It's.....all of them. Sorry, trace, but you got to choose
one....nevermind. Team Rowland is up doing "Survivor" by Destiny's
Child. Here's a quip about her old group:
Team Bolton is up next.
"When A Man loves a woman" by Percy Sledge is his song and here's some
facts about the white soul singer:
In rehearsal, the gang
took it old school wearing mullet wigs to remind him of
his.....career. Anyways.....
Team Shelton up to bat now
doing a country song. I don't know what the title is and I'm not up to
my current country stuff. But one Hynes brother make his other one so
proud in the audience. That's cool.
Team Bolton is up doing
"Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell.
Here's a wiki about it:
And Team Rowland is off
the bench to do their thing. They used this own money to get Spencer's
deaf father for the finale. He made it. And now they'll do "One Sweet
Day" by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men. Here's the skinny on it:
I believe it was off at
the start & finish, but it was alright.
Team Labelle is up doing
"We Are The Champions" by Queen. Here's what's up on the song:
-
Homer Simpson sang it
-
Played in arenas when a
team wins a title
-
Played at the end of "D2:
The Mighty Ducks"
-
"Late Night with Conan
O'Brien" parodied it on NBC being in 4th place
Are they champions? I
don't know, we'll see.
Now we award the bronze
medal....it goes to......you'll just have to wait later. But right
now, Team Lachey will now be doing "Singasong" by Earth, Wind & Fire.
Wiki up!
-
"Let's Groove" was the
first video played on BET.
-
"Shining Star" was their
biggest hit
-
If you combined the band
name with Heart and Water, you get Captain Planet in cartoons
2 guys did a street dance.
Hey guys, "Dance War" isn't on until January. AH, forget it.
Marguerite Johnson is so proud of his son. Don't you all agree?
The bronze medal, and I
mean it this time goes
to.........................................................................................................................................Team
Shelton. Remember the consolation prize I told you about? Well, thanks
to GE, the 4 runners-up will get $50,000 for their efforts. Tracy
Morgan is back to announce a winner. He opens the envelope, and it's
"this team right here" which is..............
............................................................
.....................................................................
................................................................................................................
TEAM LACHEY!
So, Team Lachey wins it,
but don't feel bad for Team Labelle, they gave it a good run. Their
best highlight was Patti being the diva, but it was Team Lachey's
acapella bumblebee flight that stung the competition. We've completed
the mission. Our work here is done. When a 2nd season comes down the
road, who do you want to be choir directors? Marie Digby? Darius
Rucker? Gladys Knight? Jewel? Justin Timberlake? Maybe we'll know for
sure. But for now....
MISSION
ACCOMPLISHED!
