They
Thought Godzilla Was Walking Down the Street! Now that we've had 12 hours to clear the wasabe out of our system, we continue on... PIT STOP Cheyne & Meghen get their first clue and are on their way.
And Cheyne... will figure it out once they get there. Zev & Justin make their way to the computer banks to book a flight. Lance has to do the same thing, because apparently Keri can't. Later teams decide to wait until they get to the airport to book flights. The teams arrive one by one at the airport, and economy class fills up quickly.. Some teams try to get upgrades to business class. They don't have to, they just have to beg. A lot. Eight teams end up with tickets on the early flight. Meanwhile, Maria & Tiffany run into every poker-player-fronting-as-a-non-profit-worker's nightmare... A FANBOY. Sam & Dan catch wind and all of a sudden, the girls have to resort to plan B. Whatever that is, I hope that works. HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM The poker-brothers alliance get the first shuttle to the bus station, while the rest of the teams follow suit. It's a little slower than usual on account of all the rain and the flash flooding. The teams make their way to Cai Be and the dock thereupon on one of two buses. The first leaves at 3:30, while the second leaves at 4:45. The teams on the later bus pool their resources to try and get the driver to leave earlier. And crazy enough, it works! Zev decides to give a local his jacket, figuring the local needs it more than he does. Ultimately, the time of departure is a moot point because the dock is closed for the day. The great equalizer of any Race is business hours. Remember that if you plan on applying. So for the teams, it's time for a little dinner and a little observation. Some teams can't get over the whole vibe of the flooding, while Maria & Tiffany try to pick up reads from everyone. The next morning arrives, and at 7a, for 10 teams, they get this...
For Maria & Tiffany...
Mika has a fear of water. She's doing everything she can to overcome it, but really, this sort of thing should've been taken care of before leaving Los Angeles. Meghen & Cheyne are the first at the farm, and the first to discover that the mud is really really sticky. And deep. Back at the Speed Bump, Maria has no problem cooking and serving the pho. It's something she does a lot of (and eating), so they get this!
Meghen & Cheyne decide to just get down and dirty. The teams have a hard time getting out of mud once they've get into it. Once we take a moment to admire the locals for going through this, we finish a tree, and the first to benefit from it... are Meghen & Cheyne!
Garrett & Jessica follow Meghen & Cheyne out to the field. And as Zev & Justin prove, just the sheer act of returning to the dock is a hard, albeit, comical one. What isn't comical is that they may have lost their clue in the fall! They turn their boat around, retrieve their clue from the edge of the river, and head back. Maria & Tiffany are the last team to complete the task and head to the field. The teams enter the field to the sound of Vietnamese music, which is just beautiful. Then they hit a...
Ericka's probably the best to do this, as she prompts everyone to shake their tail feathers. Meghan, on the other hand, is having some difficulty with her task. Matt and Flight hustle their ducks and finish quickly. But who will finish first? It's going to be... not Meghen, who times out. Jessica fares no better. Sam & Dan are the first to finish and get this...
Matt has herded some animals in his time. It shows. He finishes second. Flight finishes third, Keri finishes fourth, and the others who started and failed get second chances. Zev is like duck Zen with these flocks. Cheyne & Meghan fail. AGAIN. Meanwhile, Sam & Dan can't find their way back along the Mekong River to the market. The other teams aren't faring any better... until someone finds a route marker! (C-NOTE: Due to the similarity of the Race colors and the Vietnamese flag, route markers on this leg are yellow and white. PIT STOP And first to arrive... Gary & Matt! They lock in the lead and pick up for their effort a kayak each! They're going fishing! Next, a crash on the mat as Sam & Dan take second, Flight Time & Big Easy take third, and Keri & Lance take fourth. Back in the duck field, it's a battle to avoid last place... Jessica and Ericka fight tooth and nail to get their ducks back in their bin. Both teams end up timing out. Zev & Justin clock in at fifth... followed by Meghan & Cheyne in sixth... Maria & Tiffany at seventh... Mika & Canaan at eighth... Marcy & Ron at ninth... and a special hello to everyone who just tuned in for Cold Case. This is going to be a close one... Ericka finishes just ahead of Jessica... and they're having duck for dinner. Who'll be the first to the Pit Stop? It is.... Brian & Ericka! They're in tenth... And that leaves Garrett & Jessica. This is the end of their Amazing Race... and no one's more cheesed off than Garrett. They feel like they're stronger than their placing. Unfortunately, their inability to keep a cool head has cost them the Race. Are they any closer to marriage? Only time will tell.
