"Round of 5: Lieber &
Stoller/This Week's Billboard" - May 3-4
Gordon: I don't know. World Idol was
crappy...
Rachel: I am so not watching Primetime live.
Gordon: And here we go with the Special...
Chico: It was...
Joe: Ditto. I'm out. Later, gang.
Rachel: Hey, I didn't say I was leaving!
Chico: Sorry. Have to launder my scrubs. But I'll listen in.
Gordon: This looks a lot like Corey Clark talks a lot.
Rachel: Was he even a good singer?
Gordon: Uh....no.
Chico: No. He was fetid.
Gordon: We see footage of Corey sing on Idol, nd Paula praising him -
like she praises everyone else. We see footage of Corey's musical family and
Corey's singing at the Apollo.
Chico: Heh. I could see that in some weird way.
Gordon: We get footage of Clark's first audition.
Jason: And his early baggage. Corey is released for not telling about his
arrests. Corey tells about his coaching...and show footage about AI 2...
Rachel: They forgive his arrests for being a not so good singer? I hope
they ambush him about his criminal behavior!
Jason: He sings to Paula and get sthrough the 2nd audition.
Michelle: Aww...the love in her eyes.
Jason: He WAS making a pass.
Michelle: Why is he saying this now - a year later - instead of then?
Chico: He's selling something. Isn't it obvious?
Jason: Corey is into the round of 32...
Gordon: Corey claims that he gets a phone number from Paula
Jason: indirectly.
Gordon: As we hit the first break - what do you think so far?
Jason: Innuendo.
Rachel: How can they make a whole hour from this? Unless Montel Williams
comes out with more criminal evidence?
Michelle: Easy.
Chico: Maury Povich. You're getting your talk show hosts confused :)
Gordon: A TON of innuendo. I hope ABC has something to back this up, or I
can see lawyers at ANC's door.
Chico: Hey Gordon, where's that blasting you promised?
Gordon: I will give ABC the benefit of the doubt so far - they still have
45 minutes to convince me that this isn't a ratings ploy They haven't done a
good job, though
Chico: I wanted to see blasting...
Jason: We are back with Fallen Idol--Segment 2.
Gordon: Corey says that he is overcome with temptation and uses a
payphone to call the number.
Jason: She answers.
Gordon: Very convenient for no lack of tracing.
Jason: He claims she wants to give him private help :)
Gordon: She wants to be his mother, his sister, his special friend. Corey
says that he had a private late night meeting with Paula - and had a few drinks.
Rachel: Honestly, I think that Simon and Paula are just professional
colleagues who enjoy public flirting.
Gordon: She says that she would help with wardrobe and song choices.
Jason: But NOT to get him through. ABC brings back 7 of the round of 32.
Chico: Paula and Simon are playing roles.
Jason: Meosha Denton.
Gordon: We have some other Idol contestants who said that there's no way
that the judges can be going with the contestants. Corey says that he and Paula
go into a phone store and gets phones - and they say that he gets 3 calls from
Paula. Backing it up? Phone records.
Michelle: Ouch - can't fake that now.
Jason: Uh oh.
Gordon: 111 minutes, 90 minutes, lots of minutes. This is in January - so
this is still for the three judges. Paula has given him lots of stuff, including
cough syrup prescription written in her name.
Jason: Break two. Gordon...your thoughts?
Gordon: Well, they do have proof on this, so I can't really scoff that
it's all conjecture.
Jason: The big thing to me...is the cough syrup and the phone records.
Chico: But anything "shocking" yet?
Rachel: Well, is there anything in the rules about mentoring?
Gordon: The 90 minute phone calls? Could be going either way - it could
be routine that the judges speak to them via a conference call.
Rachel: Or can everyone be their Hollywood self and give extra attention
outside the show to someone if they want to?
Chico: ACTUALLY, if this was "The X Factor," Mentoring would be all good.
Gordon: If there's nothing against mentoring in the rules, then, I think
it's a smart move by Corey and nothing to be zapped about. The cough syrup
prescription in Paula's name, however, is the one that raised my eyebrows. So is
this enough proof for you yet?
Jason: Me...no.
Chico: Still looking for the smoking gun. And the how and why this came
to light now. He could've chose any time he wanted to. Why now?
Gordon: CD!
Chico: There is a reason. And that be it, dawg.
Gordon: Back to the show. Corey says that once Idol started, Paula came
over and started slurping on Corey's neck. Then they started...slurping.
Chico: The infamous word. The love that dare not speak its name.
Gordon: Now we go to Paula - choreographer supreme. We see her background
and history. Corey is asked why he should he be believed. Corey says that they
don't have to believe him - but he's just going to say how it went down. He
talks about her house and that they slept in the guest room. They watched music
videos together in the jacuzzi and they hung out. Corey talks about his exploits
- and then he introduces her to their friends. They say that they saw eye
contact and hand touching.
Jason: Making googly eyes and all that.
Gordon: Corey's parents say that they were told - and the parents weren't
happy.
Jason: Parents claim they got calls FROM PAULA.
Rachel: So, even if it is true would anyone want their last break up made
into a TV special?
Gordon: With Paula saying to not mention anything about any affair - and
she really cared about him. Corey says that Paula helped him with the Song
selection - Foolish Heart, but Journey, bcause in the band at the time - Randy
Jackson.
Chico: Maybe it's just "OMFG TOUCH!!!!1111" in Corey's mind =p
Gordon: Corey says that Paula paid for everything, because he didn't have
any money. We see his singing clip - the first time he's in the Top 32, with the
clothes that he claims Paula bought. Sure enough, we get the clothes while he
says that he didn't know the relevance to the song - and he said he lied about
it later.
Michelle: He still got the shirt?
Chico: Loser.
Gordon: thoughts?
Jason: Still a lot of conjecture.
Gordon: I think he brings a lot of stuff up - the problem is that not
much of it can be proven, especially in this past section. He could have
certainly done the homework and said that Paula told him.
Chico: So far, all it's proving is that ABC will air anything.
Rachel: So tonight they won't have a comment on Daily show, but maybe
tomorrow Jon Stewart will mock.
Chico: God I hope so.
Rachel: I guess he can mock it tonight if CNN covers it.
Gordon: We move to March, 2003.
Jason: Hadas Shalev, Washeka SIddell, are interviewed.
Gordon: We sing 'I've had the Time of my Life', and Corey says that it
was a hidden message to Paula The people interviewed are, understandably, upset.
Jason: They dont know Corey is the accuser.
Gordon: They do now, as ABC provides the coverage.
Jason: Nasheka Siddell claims she knew the affair.
Chico: Losers for $1000, Alex.
Jason: Ass.
Gordon: Next claim - Corey says he had sex with Paula.
Chico: What is "duh?"
Gordon: He says that he fell under the temptation of Hollywood.
Jason: What would you do? He says...
Rachel: Well, I'm not sure if I would have sex with Paula.
Gordon: We get a message from Paula telling him to not say anything to
the media. That really doesn't prove anything, because we have no clue what the
contest is.
Jason: The message doesn't mean anything either.
Gordon: Next up - Corey's fall, as he gets caught lying - and the
relationship ends. So why raise up questions now? He wants to set the record
straight...by the way, I have a CD coming out.
Chico: Doesn't answer ... OH YEAH. THAT!.
Gordon: Oh yeah - I have a book coming out.
Chico: And THAT!
Gordon: and we get another message from Paula. Corey talks about Paula
and Corey's conversations - and a plea from Paula.
Chico: It should be noted that Corey agreed to do this on the condition
that they play his single, "Fallen Idol." Thoughts?
Jason: Publicity whore.
Chico: Survey says! *DING!*
Jason: My opinion, Paula comes out clean and AI survives.
Gordon: I know - lets do a 60 minute infomercial on Corey Clark's new
album with enough holes and a field day for Paula's lawyers.
Jason: Gordon...your thoughts on what this does?
Chico: Pistols armed, FIRE!
Gordon: I spend 60 minutes of my life watching THIS?
Jason: Yes, I want it back. But let's get serious. Is Corey Clark
credible?
Gordon: No.
Chico: To our audience... We're sorry. We're SO sorry.
Jason: I agree.
Gordon: And this didn't help. He raises some issues, but nothing that's
really credible.
Jason: Does Paula Abdul come out ok?
Chico: I think she will. And I think she'll have more than just
conjecture on her side.
Gordon: I think she comes out ok on this - but I do think that if there's
an investigation from Idol, than she better have some good answers. If Fox gets
them, though, then I hope Paula's lawyers get as much as they can from ABC, who
has put up more speculation and roundabout reasoning than facts.
Chico: Sweeps stunt. The last resort of a scoundrel.
Rachel: or the first resort of a network programmer (to have a sweeps
stunt)
Gordon: With that, the show ends, and so do we.
Chico: Good night and good singing guys :)
Jason: Good night, all.
Rachel: goodnight!
Jason: And Corey Clark...shame on you.
Gordon: Shame on everyone. No shame to you the audience, though who hung
out for the ride. We'll see you back on Wednesday night with more Idol.
