The Geek Eats Some Quickstep Humble Pie

The geek, of course, being me. I said P. Miller would be thrown off “Dancing with the Stars” but his dance actually showed some effort! I was surprised and quite frankly impressed. So much for any psychic ability I ever hoped to have.

Let’s move on.

Quickly.

Myself, and my internet-buddy Jamey, are big into the series “Beauty and the Geek” on the WB. The so-called “social experiment” is a great show that doesn’t feature the backstabbing and contrived drama of other series…and the planned third version, which will feature male “beauties” and female “geeks,” should be very interesting as well.

We’re in the middle of the four biggest nights of TV this January: the debuts of “24” and “American Idol.” Of course, we’ll spend the first three or four weeks just laughing and shaking our heads at the awful ‘singers’ (term used loosely) who decided they should audition. I had always wondered about how all these people say that “my friends told me I could sing great.” Well, some people tell me I’m a decent singer…but I have absolutely no plans to sing in public anytime soon. I know better. They (apparently) don’t. Of course, then you have people like Christopher Noll – aka “Taboo” host Chris Wylde – who are apparently just hoping for TV time.

But we watch. And we love it. And FOX is signed for four more seasons. If auditions are rescheduled for next year in Memphis, maybe GSNN will get a video camera and be there, just to see if we spot the next Idol.

GSNN InSites Interactive

I enjoyed your responses so much on the “Deal or No Deal” hosting gig, that every two weeks, I’m going to post a new interactive question, then discuss your responses the following week.

If you’re going to be watching the first two episodes of “Skating with Celebrities,” send me an email after the show(s) and tell me what you think. I’d like to hear your impressions, and whether you think the show is a ripoff of “Dancing with the Stars.” Email me at jason@stormseeker.com (I’ll have a new email address probably by the next time we do this little interactive thing). If I don’t get any responses, I’ll assume no one watched. ?

The Game Show Alphabet

And finally…our Game Show Alphabet continues with E. I thought it would be terribly difficult to find. But not really. I could’ve picked:

Elimidate
Earn Your Vacation
EX-treme Dating
Extreme Dodgeball
Endurance

But…

I picked “The Enemy Within.” A short-lived British show (still airing on BBC America) that was once rumored to be launched in America as well…it features one player who is given all the answers in advance. Some might consider the PAX series “Dirty Rotten Cheater” to be an adaptation of this series.

Enjoy the week…next week I’ll take you to Harlemm…where obscurity is instant. And if you didn’t get the reference…no, I didn’t make a typo there. I’ll explain next week.
