Today, we have a tall, dark-haired, somewhat
anal-retentive, prim and proper geek... and we also have Ernie's
buddy Bert, as we continue our weeklong celebration of Sesame Street's
40th anniversary with our good friend and former "Lingo" champ Benjamin
Ziek. He's a hotel night auditor.
First up to help after Ben does his Ernie is Madison... They end up
going three for three for $13,500, clearing the 5th grade level. Two
questions, $3500, and one Pablo later...
( $2500 ) 3rd Grade Science
What is the only color of light on the visible spectrum that can pass
through a blue filter?
Benjamin has an answer in mind, but he's
going to Peek first. Pablo says blue. Benjamin goes with it... and the
run continues to $19,500!
Annalise is up and so is Benjamin, as he
is on fire through the rest of the quiz until the final question for
$1000...
( $1000 ) 2nd Grade Math
Ernie bought two hamburgers for a total of $3.14. If he paid with a five
dollar bill, how much change will he get?
Benjamin locks in $1.86. ... Get the
brooms out, Benjamin sweeps the board!
Now the question... Will he join the
Quarter Million club on a Bonus Question about US History? Benjamin
decides... to ask his friends. He says nothing doing. He drops out with
$25,000!
"If you think the gross national product
is rubber vomit, you might not be smarter than a 5th grader."
Over on CMT, law student Nathan Hucksdale
goes for the big money. He calls up Annalise to help him out first. He
gets $2500 with no problem. Will the other 3rd grade question be just as
easy?
( $2500 ) 3rd Grade Anatomy
What organ of the human body has olfactory receptors?
Nathan goes with ear... Not it. Annalise
said heart... Not it either. It was the nose. After making up ground
with $3500 and a new partner in Madison...
( $1000 ) 2nd Grade Animal Science
Native to Africa, what species of animal is depicted in the following
image?
The picture shown is a meerkat. Nathan
doesn't know it, so he Copies Madison's answer. Madison said... meerkat
for $4500.
( $5000 ) 5th Grade Geometry
Including its bases, a heptagonal prism has how many total faces?
Nathan guesses six... he's three short.
For the save, Madison goes... 9! SAVED for $9500! Unfortunately, he'd
lose it all when he couldn't name the Canadian province with Winnipeg as
its capital (Manitoba). After a skid, he earns $4500 back. With one peek
and one Pablo remaining, here's the final question of his stack:
( $500 ) 1st Grade Astronomy
Our solar system contains how many stars?
Nathan peeks at Pablo's answer... one. He
goes with that... and it's right for $5000! Will he go for ten times
that or $50,000 with a Bonus category of World History? ... Nope. He
drops out. |

It's time for another Wednesday
edition of LMAD. Alison, Jonathan and Wayne are all here to give a
deal to Rebecca (Partygoer), Kenya (Sleeping Bag), and Janet
(Jockey). Alison gives them all Coach handbags. Rebecca goes black
and white, Kenya goes purple, and Janet gets the dark black one.
Janet is the first person that can exchange her bag for Curtain
#1. She'll gamble, give back the purse, and give back the $90 in
the bag. So Janet's got something good behind the curtain, and
it's a new living room worth $6,084! Will Kenya trade hers for the
Big Box? No she won't, and she passes up on 1,000 pennies in
cement (ZONK!). She gets the purse and $2,600 inside! Now we're
down to Rebecca, who can have curtain #2. She'll take the Curtain.
There's no money in the purse, BUT there's a KEY which belongs to
a TOYOTA COROLLA WORTH $16,575!!! I see a problem for Rebecca, and
it comes in the form of a ton of tomatoes (ZONK!). Ouch.
So we have purses for ladies. Now we need men to give up their
wallets. Clifton (Mr. T.) and Norman (Popcorn) get $500 for their
wallets easily. Wayne tells them that the person with the least
amount of money in their wallet gets an additional $1,000. Norman
has $23. Clifton has...$3. But now he has $1,500, unless he wants
Curtain #1. He'll take the Curtain. Wayne takes back the $1,500
and gives Clifton instead an office from the 1980's. (ZONK!) I
pity the fool who made Clifton mad...
It's Suzette's (lady in red) birthday today, and Wayne has a gift
for her of 2,000 Philippine Pesos. She can have the U.S.
equivalent or the big box. She wants the box, so the money goes to
Marlene (bride) as a wedding gift. Suzette gets a home theater
worth $4,400. Happy Birthday!
Joey and Raquel (1960's Groovers) are a very groovy couple.
Jonathan records them grooving and tells them that the video
camcorder, worth $1,100, is theirs. Wayne tells them that they can
keep it, or trade it for the Small Box (that has a clue of 'Sky').
They are going for the box and hoping for a trip. Behind
it...we'll see later, but Curtain #2 has a clue of 'Sea'. They
flip to Sea and give up sky, which is 100,000 airlines miles
(worth $3,047). They do have sea though, unless they want Curtain
#3, which says 'Land'. They will stay with 'Sea', and turn down a
giant Tricycle (ZONK!). Behind Curtain #2 is a BAYLINER 195
DISCOVERY BOAT worth $19,449!!!! That's a beautiful prize.
Cassandra (nun) is playing for a trip to Kauai. She can win the
nice $8,597 trip if she can find a bottle of suntan lotion, which
is hiding behind at least one of 3 boxes. Cassandra goes with #3.
Behind Box #1...Suntan Lotion. Could there be another bottle
hiding? Wayne will offer Cassandra $500 to not find out. Cassandra
quickly grabs the money, and behind her box...was a Zonk! There
WAS a second bottle of Suntan Lotion, but that was under box #2,
so good bailout for Cassandra.
Now back to our bride Marlene. Wayne is going to give Marlene
DOUBLE the value of 2,000 Philippine pesos - or she can have
Curtain #2. Now I'm in a Philippine league, so I know it's not
much: $86. Instead, Marlene gets a 2009 Harley Davidson worth
$8,473! I don't know if you want to tie tin cans to the back of
that, though.
You may want to tie some love to the Big Deal, which is $25,042.
Let's see who has a shot at it:
TRADE LIST:
Joey/Raquel: $19,449
Marlene: $8,473
Janet: $6,084
Suzette: $4,400
Kenya: $2,600 and a Coach Bag
Norman: $500
Cassandra: $500
Clifton: An office bad enough for the A-Team
Rebecca: A ton of skunk repellant
Is Joey and Raquel going to cruise away on a boat? Yes they are.
Will Marlene be driving off the lot with a Harley Davidson? Yes
she is. Will Janet be reclining in her living room? NO she won't -
she's going for the Big Deal! Janet picks Door #3, so let's see
door #2 first. That had a Coast Rican Getaway, which was worth
$4,900, and hence not the Big Deal. Neither is...Janet's Door,
which had the Cash Vault worth $8,318! Cash is good, but maybe she
could have used a SUBARU FORESTER (with mountain bikes) worth
$25,042!!! Still a nice day's of work. Let's see if they can give
out more tomorrow. |

Barbara asks the Expert, Ken Jennings. Ken's 6-year-old son is
into Greek myths at the moment, and they read about it each night,
so he is 100% sure that it's C. Barbara goes with that... and it
is indeed C!

answer, by the way, is A.

Let's see what happens with the Tournament of Ten's 8th seed, Sam
Murray (Philadelphia, PA). He was the last contestant who could
attempt to qualify for the ToT, and he did so on the Nov. 6
episode, winning $50,000 in 1:52. He racked up 2:38 of banked time
then, and that means he has 3:23 on the golden clock to think
about this one...
[$1 MILLION]
According to the Population Reference Bureau, what is the
approximate number of people who have ever lived on earth?
A: 50 billion
B: 100 billion
C: 1 trillion
D: 5 trillion
Sam said at the start of the show that he was going to go for it
regardless of the question. He remembers that the current
population of the earth is approximately 6 billion. He takes his
time thinking about it and talking to himself quietly about it.
Then, Sam says this...
"What the hell. B: 100 billion. Final."
He had 1:40 left on the golden clock. Either he just gave back
$25,000, or he just put himself in the running to gain $950,000.
Is he right?
Meredith's response:
"No, it's not 100 billion. It's actually 106.5 billion, but we
rounded it down to 100 billion!"
As a result, Sam Murray is now in the running for the million
dollar grand prize! His son, Tim, who drove in at the last minute
to surprise him, comes down from the audience to join him!
Of course, Sam is not guaranteed the million yet, which explains
the lack of confetti. There are still 7 players waiting to knock
him out, and 7th seeded Robin Schwartz will have her chance
tomorrow, when she will see the next million dollar question in
the ToT. |
