Hobbs
(Lisa, Diana, Kendra, Jasara, Wayne); $1590, two
days |
Torres
(Jenae, Cyndy, Stefani, Michael, Chad) |
Did we say that yesterday
was the last new Feud of 2005? We meant today. Please
accept our apologies as the Hobbs family try to end the
year with a win. Round 1:
100 single women, something your parents always want to
know about the man you're dating (6). Lisa asks, "Does
he have a job?" It's number one! Also on the
questionnaire: how old is he? The Torres try to steal
with "any kids?" Nope, and nope. The Hobbs have 55.
Other answers: nice/personality?, income/rich?, nice
family?, what religion?
Round 2: a phrase that
starts with "drop" (6). Diana makes like Snoop Dogg and
says, "Drop it like it's hot". It's number 2. Rebuttal,
Cyndy? "Drop dead!" Alive at number one! Rest of the
family drops the ball... which is a good steal for the
Hobbs. Not there, though, as the Torres have 74. Other
answers: drop of a hat, dropout, drop what you're doing,
drop your gun.
Double Round:
something you'd hate to be in when it breaks down (full
board). Fifty-seven people agree with Kendra's car. An
elevator, an airplane, and a boat also make the board.
The Torres try to steal with subway. Good! That gives'em
248. Other answer: bus.
Triple Round: something
people put on their teeth (4). Michael gets #1,
toothpaste. The rest of the family gets braces, whitener
strips, and... blank. For the game, the Hobbs go with
caps... Hobbs win! Hobbs win! Hobbs win! Final score:
316-248.
Mother and daughter Diana
& Jasara step up to the Fast Money board. Looks like
Jasara and Diana might do this as they get "on a scale
of one to ten, how good looking are you?" (ten), "a
crisp vegetable" (carrot), "a state that begins with
'New'" (New York) and "what color would a man not want
his underwear to be" (pink). Total: 236 in nine for
$20,000, $21,590 total.

Tom Kavanaugh
(writer from St. Louis); $28,000 |
Robert Bethard
(registered nurse from Asheville, NC) |
Lauren Dean
(marketing manager/grad student from Chevy Chase,
MD) |
Will Tom be the first big
champ of 2006? He'll have to survive tonight's match
first... He starts it off with $200 Colorful Rhyme Time.
Robert finds the Daily Double under $800 Nonfiction.
Betting $1400, he's presented with the task of naming
the book with the subtitle "From the Big Bang to Black
Holes". Blank. It was "A Brief History of Time" He goes
into the TV time out in second with $1000 to Lauren's
$1200. Tom is in the red by four bucks. We run out of
time for this round, and it's a little closer with Tom
back into the lead with $1800 to Lauren's $1600 and
Robert's $1400. Okay, warm up's over. Let's get back
into it with Robert starting Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 "Spin"
City, with Lauren finding the first Daily Double under
$1600. With a $1000 lead, she bets $1200 on oleracea.
"What is a spiny anteater?" Nope, as spinach drops
Lauren to two large. That turns into $6800 as we get
some redemption with the second Daily Double under $1600
On Commissions. She bets $1000 on this: a commission
established in 1987 sponsored 2 of these in '88, 3 in
'92, 2 in '96, 3 in 2000 & 3 in '04. "What are
presidential debates?" That WOULD'VE gotten her the
grand, but she said "Olympic teams", dropping to $5800.
Tom regains the lead with $12,200 to Robert's $9400 and
Lauren's $7800. Again, a very close match.
Final Jeopardy!
in "Rivers": they're the two rivers meeting in
the photo. Correct question: What are the East and the
Hudson?
No problem as all three
players know the tip of Manhattan when they see it. Tom
ekes out the victory to end the year with $46,801. We'll
see him next year, and we hope to see you as well. Take
care and have a happy new year! |

of Fortune by Jason Block, GSNN

Well, its the last original
show of 2005 and the last day of "Let It Snow" week!
The $1,000 Tossup is LANDMARK. Personal banker Josh Munn
quickly solved THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE for $1,000 (which I
walked during the recent transit strike). Ikeiah Green
from Chicago is a personal trainer. Elizabeth Joint is
from Metairie, Louisiana.
The $2,000 Tossup is PLACES. Josh again quickly solves
PEAKS AND VALLEYS. He has $3,000 and we add a trip to
Smuggler's Notch in Vermont worth $5,400 to the wheel.
Josh starts this round which is OCCUPATION. He starts
with 3 $2,500 N's. He hits the $2,500 wedge and 2
T's...that's over $12,000. He solves CONSTRUCTION
FOREMAN for $11,500. He is in a hurry, but has $14,500
in cash!
The Jackpot round is sponsored by Eggland's Best Eggs.
The category is THINGS...and it's a PRIZE PUZZLE. Ikeiah
finally gets a shot. She starts with 2 $3,500 T's...Big
Money tonight. She hits the jackpot wedge., but misses.
Elizabeth hits Bankrupt...and it's over to Josh...back
to Ikeiah. She hits and picks up the Vermont Ski Trip.
She hits the Jackpot wedge...but can't solve! But after
all that work...she hits Bankrupt and loses over $12,000
of cash and trip. Over to Elizabeth and she solves
UNSPOILED OCEAN VIEWS for $300...and you can see them on
your trip to
Hawaii. It's a trip to the Waikiki Parc Hotel worth
$4,100...and if you have the SPIN ID of GK02867...you
are off to Waikiki! That round was worth $4,400!
The mystery round prize is $10,000 and the category is
SAME NAME. Elizabeth starts. She starts with the mystery
wedge...will she risk $3,000? Nope. And after a lot of
work she hits Lose A Turn...so does Josh...over to
Ikeiah. She hits Bankrupt...back to Elizabeth who solves
NEW YEAR'S & UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTION for $6,300. She
is creeping up with $10,700 in cash!
The $3,000 Tossup is PHRASE. Josh misses but Ikeiah is
on the board with MAKE IT SNAPPY. The category is AROUND
THE HOUSE...and Ikeiah with her $3,000 starts. She hits
a $5,000 T. Next Spin Bankrupt...she has had bad luck on
the wheel. Over to Elizabeth. She hits Lose A
Turn...over to Josh. He solves WOOL CREW NECK SWEATER
for $2,500 and a total of $17,000...and we have time for
another puzzle...
...which is ON THE MAP...but we go right into a $1,600 a
letter FINAL SPIN. Josh seals his win with PROVIDENCE,
RHODE ISLAND and $6,400. His all cash total is $23,400
and a win. Elizabeth leaves with $10,700 in cash and
trip! And Ikeiah wins $3,000!
Josh is a very good puzzle solver. I have a good feeling
we will end 2005 with a bonus round win. He lands on the
U in BONUS. His category is PERSON. With the RSTLNE we
have:
_ _ _ E _ _ _ _
He chooses CMPA and we have:
_ _ M E _ _ _ _
This is a tough one. But Josh being the great solver he
is...he blurts out HOMEBODY and Pat frisks Josh to make
sure he was clean! He checks in the envelope and he wins
a 2006 Chevy HHR worth $23,090! He leaves the show with
$46,490 in cash and car!! And we have a car to giveaway
to end the year with! If you have the SPIN ID of
RS05466...you have a Chevy HHR!
I wish all the readers of GSNN and my recaps a happy,
healthy and safe 2006.
Next week, we start 2006 with some "Guilty Pleasures"! |
