A taxicab becomes a think tank as
Shana and Marcia head to Torrey Birch. They get their first
strike on the actor who was known as "The Fresh Prince" (Will
Smith). Second strike: what former speechwriter hosted a game
show in which contestants could win his money? All together
now... "Ben Stein!" They need a street shoutout to ask someone
what the Show Me State was... "It's Missouri." Good shoutout!
Last question... What blond actress published the novel "Star"
in 2004 and "Star Struck" a year later? They go to the mobile
shoutout! Quoth Stephanie: "I don't know." Pam Anderson... is
correct! That's $425! Will they take the Video Bonus? Nope.
They walk with the $425.
Going to 47th & Fifth with Chris & Margarita next. They get
their first strike on the fault line that runs 800 miles
through California (San Andreas). They get their second strike
on whom incumbent Bill Clinton defeated in 1996 (Bob Dole).
They need a mobile shoutout. They call Uncle Mark about a
giant shipping company in Tennessee. "Fedex?" You're staying
in! Using the street shoutout to identify the Prince album
with "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy". "Purple Rain"...
right! Third strike: "two households, first alike in dignity"
begins what Shakespeare play? "MacBeth!" No, the correct
answer is GET OUT! Romeo & Juliet.
One more round with Mike &
Patrick going to 63rd & First. They sweep the $25 tier. They
sweep the $50 tier. First strike at $100: Haile Sellassie
of India is worshipped by what group of followers? They run
out of time on "Rastafarians". They need a street shoutout on
the Beatles album that came out with a moustache and glasses.
"Sgt. Pepper's!" Right! Last question... needs a shoutout. Who
resigned as Senate Majority Leader in 2002 over controversial
comments about Strom Thurmond. "Trent Lott." Right for $600!
But what about the Video? "Let's go for it!" The question: in
medical terms, what feeling of dizziness comes from the Latin
word meaning "to turn?" "Vertigo"... right for $1200! |

Hamilton
(John, Lynda, Noel, Toni, Jeff) |
Kaufman
(Kimberley, Michael, Barry, David, Dan); $41,740,
four days |
The only thing standing
between the Kaufmans and eternal Family Feud glory is a
clan that we jumped to on October 10. Round 1:
something that reminds you of the fall season (5).
Kimberley gets #1, leaves, while the rest of the family
follows up with colder weather and pumpkins. The
Hamiltons steal 90 with football. Other answers: new TV
shows.
Round 2: a city where
lots of rich people live (7).
LA beats NY, 1 to 2, as Lynda wins the faceoff. But
that's all they come up with. The Kaufmans try to steal
with Miami... Got it for 69! Other answers: Las Vegas,
Philadelphia, Palm Beach, San Francisco.
Double Round:
100 married women: your husband may not have a
girlfriend, but I bet he has a love affair with
something. What is it (full board)? Barry wins this one
again sports against Noel's dog. Car and job also make
the survey. The Kaufmans want Richard to show them the
money. Not there, Kaufmans get 191! Other answer:
computer/games, food.
Triple Round:
the worst thing a doctor can order to give up (4).
Toni goes with food for #2. Smoking is number one from
Jeff. Sex and drinking round it out for the Hamiltons,
who win with 381-191.
John and Toni team up to
win only $545 in Fast Money. |

Laura McElfresh
(librarian from Atlanta); $53,202, two days |
Karen Spinale
(high school teacher from Duxbury, MA) |
Jeff Lawrence
(limousine driver from Las Vegas) |
So far, so good for our
two-time champ. Can she keep it up? Laura begins her
third game with $200 Insectoid Rhyme Time. Laura picks
up where she left off, with $3400 to Karen's $800 and
Jeff's $2200.
By The Numbers for $800
is Laura's choice for the Daily Double, and as she
almost ran out of fingers on the last clue in that
category, she bets $1400. The clue: a reduction of arms
& independence for Turkey were 2 items in this January
8, 1918 pronouncement. "What were the 14 Points?" Right
for $5800. She leads at the half with $8200 to Jeff's
$4000. Karen, with $1400, starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 in Time
for a Movie Review. Six clues later, Laura finds the
first Daily Double under $1600 Classical Composers. With
$10,600, she bets $6000. The clue: in 1726, this German
composer became a naturalized British subject. "Who is
Handel?" Right for $16,600! Back to Time for a
Movie Review, as we find the second Daily Double under
$1600. Jeff needs to play this for all its worth, as he
bets $6000 on the 1994 crime epic that "still has the
impact of an adrenalin shot to the heart." "What is Pulp
Fiction?" Right for $14,000. Jeff rallies to go to
$16,400, only $4200 less than Laura's $20,600 at the end
of this round. Karen only has $4600.
Final Jeopardy!
in "Lines from Lincoln": though it's not
accurate, this meaning of the word "Mississippi" appears
in one of Lincoln's most famous lines. Correct question:
What is "the father of waters"?
No one gets it right, and
it's particularly stinging for Jeff because he was born
in Mississippi. Laura bets a little bit too much, giving
Jeff the game with $11,400. Laura leaves with $55,202. |

"O Price is Right, O Price
is Right...How wond'rous are your prizes." Christmas
Week. Day 3. 7800. Here we go.
Things will kick off in high style with Joseph claiming
a pair of Lionel trains ($1307), then heading to the
Range for a trip to Hawaii from Northwest World
Vacations. Range today starts at $4100. He stops the
Rangefinder between $4330 and $4480. ARP: $4376, and our
first winner.
Next, things really get exciting. Contestant Toni picked
up a Kurt S. Adler Christmas wreath, worth $800. What
does Santa have in his bag for her? A sleek, black,
shiny, CHEVY CORVETTE and 3 Strikes on the stage.
Numbers in the car: 2 3 4 5 8. Her first two pulls tried
to put 2 and 8 in the second slot. Neither went. Her
next three pulls filled in the first three spots ($ 5 4
3 = =). However, in her last four pulls, she only pulled
one number, and three strikes. YER OUT with no more
shots at the $54,382 car.
OK, we need to pull ourselves up by our coal black
bootstraps and get back on a winning track. Lauren, can
you help us out? She picked up a 6-piece set of his &
her American Tourister luggage ($1040). Her game: Most
Expensive between the Teddy Bears for a LifeFitness
elliptical cross trainer, a Hawaii's Finest shaved ice
wagon, and a Flexsteel Cello sofa. Her pick: the Ice
Wagon. With the trainer at $2599, and the sofa at $1575,
she may not have a shot. ARP of the wagon: $3367. 2/3
for the half.
In the first Showdown, Joseph added $1000 to his take
and a berth in the Showcases.
Let's start the 2nd half with Haywood Cooper Jr.
capturing a $949 Whirlpool Gold range, and taking to the
stage for a quick 10-G's on the Punchboard. Stumbling
only once on an egg-shaped mini clothes washer ($95,
higher, $76) he picked up three punches from a $30
StoryReader, a $15 Santa Chef chalkboard, and a $49
smoothie maker. His punches ended up very low: $50,
$250, and $50 again. 2/4.
We're back in our iced-over rut. Victoria Vasset picked
up a set of Morrow his & her snowboard equipment, valued
at $765. Her game: Money Game for a Ford Focus ZX4SE. No
sooner did the Board swing around on the Turntable, when
someone in the front yelled out "35". Here's the board
set:
90 65 81
45 18 17
70 19 35
-----------
$ = = 5 = =
Going with that advice, she took 35 for the BACK OF THE
CAR!! A guaranteed win, at this point. She picked up
$19, then the $17,535 car. 3/5. Awesome Win.
Finally, Marcie Seals managed to win a Ridgeway
Alexandria grandfather clock ($3075) to play Hit Me for
"Things for your backyard," including a Great Lakes
patio set and a Beachcomber hot tub, all worth $7875.
With the House pulling a 3 of Diamonds, she quickly
picked Campbell's Soup ($10.20 = $1.02 + Ks) and took
some time picking the Clorox Bath Wand ($9.99 = As) and
hitting 21. House's hole card: Kd. Marcie won her berth
in the Showcases with 95¢.
T-MAC NOTE: Somewhere, I can hear Jason Hernandez
cheering for joy that Hit Me was played correctly this
time!
Top Winner: Marcie. Runner-Up: Joseph. On with the
Showcases!
The first Showcase had Shane and Lanisha as two "savvy
kids luring Santa down the chimney." What did they use?
A year's supply of Ghirardelli, a collection of Ryobi
power tools, a 42" plasma TV, and a Hi-Lo trailer.
Marcie passed on that one (?!), to which Joseph bid
$25,500.
Showcase 2 gave us an Aico Tresor dining room with
Christmas dinnerware, a deluxe cappuccino machine, and a
Kohler & Campbell petite grand piano. Marcie's bid:
$27,500.
Joseph's Showcase: $27,740 for a difference of $2240.
Marcie's Showcase: $25,625 and she's over.
Joseph gets mobbed by his group while walking away with
$34,423.
T-MAC NOTE: Should their bids have been flopped, here
would have been the result:
Joseph Marcie
Bid 27500 25500
ARP 27740 25625
Diff 240 125 (BOTH below $250)
Winner

In the last episode, Ixo
Valdes (Miami, FL) got to $200. In this episode, he goes
for more.
Apparently, Ixo is such a trivia whiz that at work,
there's a TV in the employee room because of him. His
co-workers watch him play along each day, and he ends up
doing very well most of the time. Well, hopefully, he
can pull off a good enough performance here to possibly
win the million. The game resumes, and he breezes
through the lower tier. Then, along the way through the
lower tier, he sees this for $8,000...
Before it was renamed to honor a statesman, the ancient
Romans called what month Quintilis?
A: May
B: June
C: July
D: April
Ixo decides to ask the audience. 55% of the studio
audience says A, and 41% of the AIM users agree. Then,
just to be safe, he uses the 50:50. Guess what? A is
gone (meaning the audience is wrong), and so is B. C and
D remain. But it turns out that Ixo's first instinct was
C, and he goes with that... and he's right! If only he
just trusted that first instinct without using those
lifelines... Anyway, continuing on, and he gets another
before reaching this $25,000 question...
In 1891, Impressionist Claude Monet completed a famous
series of paintings featuring what farm motif?
A: Rows of corn
B: Haystacks
C: Grazing cows
D: Barns
Ixo calls his friend Jose, who is 100% sure that it's B.
Though Ixo had a prior inkling that it was D, he trusts
Jose and says B... and he has $25,000! Going for
$50,000, now...
The melody for which of these children's songs comes
from the French song "Ah! Vous Dirai-Je, Maman"?
A: London Bridge
B: The Farmer in the Dell
C: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
D: Old MacDonald
Ixo thinks it's A, and goes with A... but it's C! Ouch.
Well, at least he lost nothing, and goes home with
$25,000!
Next in the hot seat is Shannon Harris (St. Paul, MN),
who has 2 daughters. The older of the two, Payton (4
years old), watches the show, and she'd like to see her
mother high-5 Meredith upon reaching $1,000. So they get
to it, and Shannon starts by knowing that "tackle" and
"touch" are two varieties of football (I think with
Friday night at the movies, only one of those would make
sense; you can guess which one). She has no problem
getting to $1,000 (and there's the high-5), and
eventually, she gets to this $8,000 query...
The logo for the Goodyear tire company features the
winged foot of what Roman god?
A: Mars
B: Apollo
C: Mercury
D: Neptune
Shannon asks the audience. 82% of the studio audience
and 48% of the AIM users say C, so she trusts them...
and this time, they're right! On to $16,000...
The United States has never issued an official
declaration of war against which of these countries?
A: Great Britain
B: Spain
C: Mexico
D: France
Shannon decides to call her father Wayne, who is about
80% sure that it's A. She then uses the 50:50, just to
be safe. Yeah, remember the last time it was used "just
to be safe"? It happened again. A is gone. Her father is
wrong. B and D remain. Then, after some consideration,
Shannon decides to just walk. After how those lifelines
turned out, that was likely the best option, and she has
$8,000 to show for it. Oh, BTW, it was D.
And the horn signals the end of this episode. A new
player will grace the hot seat tomorrow. |
