Preston
(Melvin, Lisa, Carol, Carlton, Denise) |
|
Kaufman
(Kimberley, Michael, Barry, David, Dan); $20,990,
two days |
The Kaufmans are so far
one for two in Fast Money. Hopefully that'll change, but
first we have to play the Feud! Round 1:
something that happens in the royal family that usually
makes the news (5).
Melvin gets accident, counted as deaths/funerals, #3.
Kimberley's divorce ("affairs/scandals") is number one!
The rest of the champs get weddings. The challengers try
for the steal with childbirth. Got it for 93! Other
answer: family feuds (of course).
Round 2: a board game
you're never too old to play (6).
Michael gets the big one, Monopoly. Scrabble and the
Game of Life also make the survey. The Prestons go with
chess for the steal... Got it for 170! Other answers:
checkers, Parcheesi.
Double Round:
a word/phrase with the word "blind" in it (full board).
Carol's blind date is #2. That's all they come up with,
though. The Kaufmans try for the steal with "blindfold."
Good for 24. Number one: blind as a bat. Other answer:
blind justice, blind faith, blindsided.
Triple Round:
something people think brings bad luck (4).
Carlton gets #1, a black cat. They get a broken mirror
and... That's it for them, though. The Kaufmans steal
with under a ladder for 210. Other answer: open
umbrella.
Sudden Death: something
that gets stale. That's Dan... "Bread." Eighty-eight
people said it! And that's game to the Kaufmans,
474-170.
Michael and David are up
to the Fast Money board this time. Barry gets 114...
Michael gets... 36. That's 150 for $750, giving them
$21,740. |

Kathy Reiff
(homemaker from Groton, MA); $5200 |
|
Brendan O'Connor
(teacher from Cody, WY) |
|
Laura McElfresh
(librarian from Atlanta) |
Last time, Kathy... well,
she got pretty darn lucky. Can she get her fill of cash
this time? She starts with $200 It Was the '60s. Going
into the TV time out, the two ladies are tied at $2600 a
piece. Meanwhile, Brendan is behind the starting gate at
-$400.
It's Australia, Mate for
the Daily Double under the $600 level. Trailing by
$1600, she only bets $1000 on the state that reportedly
lost the 1859 decree Victoria signed authorizing its
name. "What is Queensland?" Right on for $4400. Oh, if
she only went bigger. She'll have to second for playing
second fiddle to Laura, who leads $6800 to Kathy's
$5400. Brendan finally got out of the red, but is now
stuck at zero.
Today in Double
Jeopardy!, Jon Cannon plays the bass... Oh yeah. Brendan
starts off with $400 in Bass Lines. Switching to Opera,
we find the first Daily Double under $800. Laura goes
big with $3000 on the opera with "The Dance of the Seven
Veils." "What is Salome?" Right for $10,200! Kathy finds
the second Daily Double under $1200 Women Authors. Kathy
really needs to make her move here... She bets... $2000.
Alice Walker revived interest in what "Queen of the
Harlem Renaissance"? "Who is Zora Neale Hurston?" Right
for $12,600. Kathy works for her $14,200 to try and
catch up with Laura's $18,600. Meanwhile, Brendan has
$6000.
Final Jeopardy!
in "Trademarks": as a result of a merger in
1999, this company's trademarks include both a tiger &
Pegasus. Correct question:
What is ExxonMobil?
All three are right, so
wagering will play a key factor. Kathy only bet $4500 to
move into the lead temporarily. Laura's going to make it
$100 to go, but she's right and bets a whole lot more,
winning $28,401. Kathy leaves with $7200.

The
Price is Right by Travis Schario & Jason Hernandez, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |
|
You know, all we hear in the
news is about this "War on Christmas." I will tell you
this much. If there IS a war going on, Christmas is
definitely hiding out in 7800. Here's what went down
today. The first four contestants are Brandi Johnson,
Lauralee Ozzello, Brenda Andeway, and Kevin Dwyer. By
the way, the set looks gorgeous for this special week of
shows as Bob enters through the audience! The first
items up for bids are an animated Mr. and Mrs. Santa
Claus! Lauralee's the winner!
Lauralee kicks off this special week with the Golden
Road! It starts off with Snackwells cookies, and they
can help Lauralee win a carousel horse reproduction, a
floor clock from Howard Miller
and
a new 2006 Cadillac
XLR! That Cadillac is worth over $78,000. However, we
begin with the carousel horse. The cookies are worth
73-cents. The last two numbers in the horse are 5 and 0.
$_50 Lauralee chooses the 7, and thats right! The horse
is worth $750. Now we take that to the clock: $3_70 She
chooses the five
and that is RIGHT! ($3570) Now we move
on to the Cadillac convertible! Here is the big prize:
$78_94. After careful thought, Lauralee chooses the 3.
After Bob does his usual build-up of tension
.he pulls
up the slip to reveal
A THREE! She has won the Cadillac worth $78,394! What a
way to start the week!
Nina Whittman was the next contestant to be called down,
and she came right from the front row! Shane brings out
a new telescope from Meade for the contestants to bid
on. The winner is Brandi! She goes back to the Christmas
tree, and we find out she can win $10,000 playing
Half-Off.
Here are the three sets of prizes to reduce the number
of boxes.
*A sound machine ($100) or Santa figurine ($23). She
says the figurine, and thats right! ($46)
*A massager ($20) or a bank ($29). She says the
massager, and thats correct! ($40)
*Salt & Pepper set ($10) or sandwich maker ($23). She
says the salt & pepper shakers, and thats also right.
($20)
The big bucks are either in boxes #4 or 9. Brandi
chooses box #9, and after the count of three
we find
$10,000!
The next contestant to come on down is Luis Cortez, Jr.
from the back. The next item up for bids is a chair &
ottoman set, and the winner of that prize also receives
Campbells cream of mushroom soup. Mmm, mmm, good! The
winner is Kevin. He will play Freeze Frame for a pair of
motorcycles from Honda. He freezes the price at $4095,
and the right price is $6128, awww.
On the first showcase showdown, Kevin starts off with a
dime
and finishes with another dime! He has a total of
20-cents. Brandi lands on her first spin
with 20-cents!
We have a tie, but she will spin again, of course. Her
second spin lands on 70 for a total of 90! Lauralee gets
50-cents on her first spin, and then goes over with 70.
Brandi wins with 90-cents, and she will move on to the
showcases.
The next name on Rich Fields list is Deborah Redrick,
also from the front row! (Thats the third person called
from up front today) The next item up for bids is a new
34 color wide-screen TV from Sony. Here is a two-month
old visitor: A kitty cat named Noel (or Noelle?). She is
SO adorable! If you want to adopt her, or find a pet
like her and give an animal a home for the holidays, you
can adopt one at the LA Dept. of Animal Services, or a
nearby shelter. Now then, on to the bidding! Luis is the
winner! He goes back to play Barkers Bargain Bar for a
trip to Anchorage, Alaska and a trip to Atlanta,
Georgia!
The trip to Alaska is priced at $1759, and Atlanta is
priced at $2182. Luis thinks Alaska is the better
bargain without hesitation.
*Atlanta ($2182) ARP is $3182 for a difference of $1000.
*Alaska ($1759) ARP is $3259 for a difference of $1500,
and Luis wins both trips!
(Side note: the number font for the bargain price of
Atlanta is a VERY old graphic and a different font than
the other prices. How many of you caught that?)
The next contestant to come on down is Jennifer Cone.
The next item to bid on is a collection of Christmastime
snacks. That makes Jennifer the winner! She is playing
Dice Game for a new car! Its the 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS
Coupe.
The first number is a 1, of course. Her first roll is a
2, and thats not right, so she says the second number
is higher. Her next roll is a 5, and that is wrong, so
she sticks with the odds and says lower. Her next roll
is a 6, and thats right! Her final roll is a 1, and
thats wrong, but its higher! She wins the car! Thats
four wins out of five games!
We find out that Nina was the first person out in line,
and she slept out there on those streets. The final
contestant to come on down is Amy Branley. Laniesha
brings down a lovely pink pearl necklace to bid on. The
winner is Amy! She is playing Pick-a-Pair for a player
piano worth $7500. Here are the six products:
*Jolly Time kettle corn, Finazzle soap scum, Tums smooth
dissolve, Cherryman cherries, Airborne Jr., and TRESemme
shampoo.
Amy picks the popcorn worth $2.29. She then picks the
cherry topping worth
$2.29! She wins the piano, and that
makes 5 wins out of 6 games. Very well done!
Our contestants not appearing on stage receive Croton
gold watches and the usual telephone today. Luis lands
on 70-cents, and thats good for him. Amy spins next and
hits 50, and then she lands on 35 for a total of
85-cents. Jennifer takes a spin, and lands on 95-cents
to give her the win! She will move on to the showcases.
Jennifer is the top winner, and Brandi is the runner-up.
The first showcase is holiday sleepwear, a new bedroom
set from Aico, and a Caribbean cruise from Costa Cruises
for 7-nights! Jennifer passes on this showcase to
Brandi. She bids $16,100 on that showcase.
The second showcase has prizes relating to little-known
Christmas carols. The first one is Soy to the World
about cooking soy-based food on a new Whirlpool range.
The next carol is Deck the Malls about the shopping
season, and the desire to spend $1,000 in cash! Next,
Do You Gear What I Gear is a carol that can be
attributed
to a new 2006 Dodge Charger! Finally, this
showcase finishes with the carol, Tis the Season to Be
Bidding.
With that carol sung, Jennifer bids $52,000 on her
showcase.
We start with Brandi who bid $16,100 on her showcase.
The ARP is $18,598 for a difference is $2498. Good bid!
Jennifer bid $52,000. ARP: $24,934. She went over, and
that makes Brandi the winner.
Brandi has won $30,726 in cash and prizes for the day!
For now, this is Jason Hernandez saying thanks for
watching, and be sure to watch the rest of Christmas
week on the Price is Right! Trust me
youll enjoy it!
Games won: 5/6
Amount won: $150,259.73 (WOW, what a total!)
Big winner: Lauralee with $84,284.73, including her
Golden Road victory! |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira |

[As I write this, I'm still
trying to catch my breath after watching Deal or No
Deal. Awesome show, in my opinion. You gotta check it
out, especially if you haven't already. In the meantime,
let's get down to business here...]
Last week, Emily Jensen (Montclair, NJ) reached $4,000,
with 2 lifelines left. Can she make it farther up the
Millionaire ladder?
It was mentioned on Friday that Emily is getting married
in June, but it turns out that she had to dig into her
wedding savings to pay for $6,000 worth of repairs on a
broken-down car. No wonder she needs the money. In the
meantime, her fiancé is at home, as a Phone-a-Friend.
So, with that in mind, the game resumes with this $8,000
question...
Air America, which debuted in 2004, is a talk-radio
network geared for what specific demographic?
A: Liberals
B: Teenagers
C: Veterans
D: Conservatives
Time to call Emily's fiancé, Matthew. He is 100% sure
that it's A, and he even adds that "it's Al Franken's
show". Emily trusts him... and it's A! Moving on to
$16,000...
In Christopher Reeve's "Superman" movies, what geometric
shape surrounds the "S" logo on his chest?
A: Octagon
B: Hexagon
C: Pentagon
D: Triangle
The 50:50 leaves A and C. Emily goes with C... and she's
right! Now, for $25,000...
What is the world's second smallest country, measuring
under 2 square kilometers in area?
A: Tuvalu
B: Liechtenstein
C: Monaco
D: San Marino
Emily has an inkling as to what it could be, but she's
not sure enough, so she walks. The answer was C, which
turned out to be what she thought it was, but $16,000 is
not bad at all!
Next up is Lee Rothman (Woodmere, NY). He is also
engaged, and his wedding is set for Feb. 25. His fiancé,
Jill, is in the audience. It turns out that they haven't
decided on a location for a honeymoon yet, but Lee wants
to go to Tahiti. So, he's here to win enough money to
make that trip. So, he starts by knowing that the part
of a bicycle that is meant to keep it upright when not
in use is the kickstand (good thing it's not a bicycle
elf; that would likely require more maintenance than one
could stand). Lee then breezes through the lower tier,
and on the way through the middle tier, he faces this
for $4,000...
What old nickname did Mariah Carey incorporate into the
title of her 2005 chart-topping album?
A: Mimi
B: Mack
C: Emcee
D: Marcy
Lee asks the audience. 85% of the studio audience and
73% of the AIM users pick A, so he goes with it... and
they're right! Another couple of questions later, and he
goes for $25,000 with this...
The prominent White House balcony overlooking the South
Lawn was built for, and unofficially named after, what
U.S. president?
A: Franklin D. Roosevelt
B: Harry S. Truman
C: Dwight D. Eisenhower
D: John F. Kennedy
Lee decides to call his friend Eric, but he doesn't
know. But he does say that the White House was
essentially rebuilt during the Truman administration.
Doesn't stop Lee from calling him "junk", though. With
that, he uses the 50:50, which leaves B and D. It's
still not good enough for him to gamble, so he walks.
After finding out that it was B, Lee heads home $16,000
richer.
[That's the 3rd straight contestant to walk with
$16,000, BTW.]
The next player is Julie Boyle (Las Vegas, NV). She
serves caviar and champagne on various charter flights.
Expensive stuff, but maybe after this, she could afford
some of that stuff herself. She starts by knowing that a
classic fairy tale heroine is known as "Little Red
Riding Hood". Julie sweeps the lower tier, and
eventually gets to this $4,000 question...
In the U.S. Homeland Security Advisory System, what
color signals the lowest threat of terror attacks?
A: Green
B: Yellow
C: White
D: Purple
Julie asks the audience. 49% of the studio audience says
A, and 42% of the AIM users agree. It's not good enough
for Julie, though, as she then uses the 50:50. It leaves
A and D. With that, she says A... and it's A! She then
gets to $8,000.
That's all for today. Julie will return to the hot seat
tomorrow. |
