First up in Ben's Cab of the
Cash is someone we'll refer to as Bandanna Girl going to
Union Square... because she's late. She sweeps the $25
questions, and uses her street shout out at $50. In
Greenwich Village, she finds out that the famed FBI
director that "always got his man but never found a
woman" was J. Edgar Hoover... the hard way. First
strike. Second strike: what US holiday was once known as
Decoration Day? "Flag Day?" Memorial Day. She gets $200
at the Red Light Challenge: four of the five oceans that
make up the 71% of the Earth's water. She gets the big
four, Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Arctic. Final one:
Southern. She ends up with $550, but will she go for the
Bonus? She said she was late... She's gonna walk.
While she spends her cash
on another tattoo, Trevor & Janine go down to Mott &
Prince. They sweep the $25 tier. They sweep the $50
tier. First strike: the dromedary, or Arabian, is the
best known variety of what animal? "A horse?" A camel.
Trevor calls up Tony to figure out that REM's "Man on
the Moon" was an ode to Andy Kaufman. What legal charter
limited the power of English kings? "The Emancipation
Proclamation?" That was 600 years late, it was the Magna
Carta. Trevor & Janine get their walking papers on the
last letter of the Greek alphabet by saying zeta. It was
actually omega... and you've reached yours. Get out!
Please exit on the curb side of the vehicle.
Jordan's group of four is
going to the Met. First strike: Joey, Johnny, DB, and
Tommy are the original members of what influential punk
band? "The Misfits." No, they were hardly influential.
It was the Ramones. They use the street shoutout in the
Upper East Side. in the 1870s, Dr. Zaminoff invented a
universal second language. What was it? Any Red Dwarf
fan knows this, it's Esperanto. Too bad the group says
"sign language." They have $225 going into the Red Light
Challenge: five states that have coasts along the
Pacific Ocean. They get Washington, Oregon, California,
Alaska, and Hawaii for $575! Jordan has to call up his
friend Matt on this: owned by Mills & Boone, what
publisher is synonymous with the romance novel. They go
with Harlequin... right! And here we are at the Met at
$675. Will they take the big risk? They try it. Captured
by Arabs in 711, this craggy territory was passed to the
Spanish in 1462 before England took control in 1713.
Name this stone peninsula off the coast of Spain. They
go with Gibraltar... They just won $1350!

days, $21,480 |
Another week,
another Breast Cancer Awareness Special. Go to
www.getbcfacts.com.
Thank you. Round 1:
a place where people often become regulars (6).
Saul one-ups Lillian with club to her restaurant. They
also get the gym. The Broadous try "grocery store" for
the steal. Got it for 87! Other answer: church, jail.
Round 2: a
fictional character with the word "old" in their name (6).
Deborah gets #2, Old Yeller. Michelle gets Old Mother
Hubbard, fetching #6. Shyann gets Old Maid, #4. Old
MacDonald had number one, E-I-E-I-O. We go to the
Carrillos for the steal: "Old River". Don't you mean
"Old Man River?" Guess so. The Broadous get 150. Other
answers: Old Man River, Old King Cole..
Double Round:
an activity that many people do while half asleep
(full board). Angie gets #2, snore. Sal gets #1, watch
TV. Read, talk, make love, and sleepwalk also make the
survey for 140.
Triple Round:
a good gift for someone who's staying at the hospital (4).
Michelle gets top of the board with flowers. Books,
food, and.... to the Carrillos with "music". Not there!
The Broadous win, 402-140! Other answer: balloons.
Can Michelle and
Shyann get the Fast Money again? Nope. They come 20
points short for $900 more, giving them $22,380. And
once again, Family Feud and AstraZeneca are ponying up
$5000 to Y-Me for breast cancer research.

Jeopardy! by
Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or

Host: Alex Trebek |
|
|
Maria Kokiasmenos
(law school graduate from Vernon, CT); $18,000 |
|
Kathy Reiff
(homemaker from Groton, MA) |
|
Mark Levin
(retired dentist from Wellington, FL) |
Last time, Maria
was impossible to catch. Will that trend continue today?
The newly-christened "defense attorney" starts with $200
"C" Food. At the TV time out,
Alex reveals an LLV, a long-life vehicle... his car.
Maria picks up where she left off, $5800 to Kathy's
$1800. Mark, meanwhile, has some catching up to do with
-$2800.
Maria goes on
the Road to Rhode Island and finds the Daily Double
under $800. She bets $1000 of her $6600 on the painter
born in 1755 whose work can be seen on the one-dollar
note. "I don't know." Gilbert Stewart. Still in the
lead, but only with $5600 now. She catches up nicely,
though, and has $7000 at the half. Meanwhile, Kathy has
more than half that, $3800, while Mark, still in the red
by two large, starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
JS Bach & Sons. First Daily Double under $800 Bodies of
Water goes to Kathy, as she bets $1000 on the river at
Limerick, 70 miles from its mouth. "I can't think of
it." Limerick, Ireland... the Shannon River puts her at
$7200. In an obvious plug for the DVD of the same name,
Maria finds the second Daily Double under $2000 Mr. and
Mrs. Smith. She goes level on this: when her husband
Clyde died in 1940, she took over his seat as a House
Representative from Maine. "Who is Mary Smith?" Not
sure, but it was Margaret Chase Smith. She has $14,200.
Kathy rallies to catch up to striking distance, $11,200
to her $13,400. Meanwhile, Mark came out defeated and
goes home with a score of -$1600, good for $1000 in
third-place cash. Of course you know this means a
two-woman affair in...
Final Jeopardy!
in "1940s Movies": this 1942 film gained
greater distinction following a January 1943 meeting of
Allied leaders in its title location. Correct question:
What is "Casablanca"?
"If you missed
this, you're going to hate yourself!" Sure enough, no
one gets it. The defeat is double for Maria who leaves
with $20,000. On the other hand, a conservative wager
means that Kathy comes back Monday with $5200.

The
Price is Right by Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |

Deborah McAllister, Clara
Rector, Cindy Thomas, and Sandy Klapp start the Friday
before Christmas.... Week :) The object of their desire,
a playhouse. Clara wins it and a chance for a Jeep
Wrangler playing Cover Up. The price is not $21,745.
First cover-up, $19,258. She gets the 1 and the 9.
Second cover-up, $19,834. And the price is right! Happy
birthday, Clara!
Coming up on Clara's heels is Manohack Keeton, who wins
a set of small kitchen appliances. But how about some
big ones? You can buy all the appliances you want with
$16,000. The products in It's In the Bag: Campbell's
Cream of Mushroom, Citracal Plus, Pringles chips,
Smucker's blackberry jam, Glad Forceflex bags, and
Hershey's chocolate syrup. She goes for the chips at
79¢, the calcium at $10.97, the soup at $1.02, the syrup
at $2.25, and the jam at $3.35. She's right on the
chips... right on the calcium.... right on the soup....
And we have a bailout. The bad news, the other two were
right. The good news: she's richer by $4000.
Cindy picks up a riding
lawn mower in round 3, as she is offered a trip to Rio
in Pushover. The lineup is 6 1 8 7 5 0 9 4 1. She lines
it up to $8750... Wrong. Should've pushed it a little
further to $6187. She won't be going to Rio, and she
won't be going to the Showcase either. That trip goes to
Manohack.
CBS.com eTicket plug goes
here. Nifty.
Tina Keane starts the
second half winning golf equipment. Now she has a chance
to win a new living room in Secret X. First X is free,
you know that. But she only gets another one from a $49
Holiday Bear. So that just leaves Xes lower left and
upper right. The Secret X needs to be in the middle for
a win.... and it's up top. Darn.
We get our first man on
stage with Charles Johnson, as he wins a side-by-side
fridge/freezer. Now he gets to shoot for a 2006 Chrysler
PT Cruiser in the Dice Game. First number: 1. The rolls
go 3, 3, 1, 3. Charles goes higher, higher, higher,
higher. We know at least one of them is right, the
fourth number. The second number... 6! The third... 4!
The fourth... 2! The fifth... 5! Charles wins the
$16,425 car!
Final chance for Deborah
and Sandy to get on stage, having been down in the row
for the entire hour, and who should get the win? Sherry
Browning, as she wins a karaoke. Now to add to that
stash with a set of plushie LCD TVs, Tupperware
containers, dumbbells, and crystal stemware. The game is
Poker Game. Sherry chooses the dumbbells and stemware
for herself, at $480 and $838 respectively, getting 8 8
8 4 3. That's what we call a set around here. She
decides to keep it. The TVs are $899. The Tupperware is
$585. That gives the house 9 9 8 8 5, and Sherry the
win! (C-Note: Highest hand possible: a full house with
the stemware and the TVs).
(Supplemental C-Note: Bob
saw a quick flash of the final price of the Tupperware
before the on-air reveal, laughingly saying "I bet
there's no 9 in the containers!")
That's all the winning
Sherry does, as Charles meets Manohack in the Showcase.
First up, a visit to the safe deposit boxes at the First
Bank of Price, as we unlock a keyboard, a Mac computer,
and a travel trailer. Top winner Charles passes to
Manohack, who bids $25,500. Meanwhile Charles is left
with a trip to the Priceless Train Depot. On the tracks
today: a NASCAR pinball, a dinette, and a pair of
off-road motorcycles. Charles bids $15,000. Actual
price: $14,401. He's over by about $600. Manohack's
actual price... $27,196! She's a winner today with
$32,025.
Stats: 3-2-1, $76,582.
Next week, it's Christmas
at 7800. You know how we do. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira |

Yesterday, Jamie Monson
(Minneapolis, MN) made it to $2,000. With 2 lifelines
left at this point, how will she fare today?
Whenever she gets nervous, Jamie tends to giggle, and
she happens to be doing so at this point. At least
despite said nervousness, she's happy to be there, and
to be honest, who wouldn't be? After getting some of
that giggling out of her system, Jamie resumes playing,
and soon enough, she gets to this $8,000 question...
During the telecast of his dad's Supreme Court
nomination, 4-year-old Jack Roberts stole the show by
doing what?
A: Yawning
B: Dancing
C: Sticking out his tongue
D: Pulling his sister's hair
The 50:50 leaves B and D. Jamie then goes with D... but
it's B! Ouch. Well, at least she goes home with $1,000.
Time for this season's 100th contestant (not counting
theme weeks), Chris Nash (Dallas, TX). He says he had a
horoscope predicting that he'd win the million dollars.
Well, to be more specific, it read that he could "expect
great wealth soon". So, it may not necessarily mean the
million, but let's hope it does, alright? With that,
Chris starts by knowing that by definition, the type of
party that is supposed to last all night long is a
slumber party. He sweeps the lower tier, and as he moves
along the middle tier, he faces this for $8,000...
Worn by 2005 Emmy presenters in support of Hurricane
Katrina victims, what is the state flower of both
Louisiana and Mississippi?
A: Magnolia
B: Gardenia
C: Honeysuckle
D: Wisteria
Chris asks the audience. 81% of the studio audience and
48% of the AIM users go with A, so Chris goes with
that... and they're right! On to $16,000...
Which of these countries does not border Iraq?
A: Saudi Arabia
B: Kuwait
C: Afghanistan
D: Turkey
Use of the 50:50 leaves B and C. Chris then says C...
and he's right! Now, for $25,000...
An entrée prepared "vol-au-vent" is served in what
distinctive manner?
A: In a pastry shell
B: On a stick
C: Wrapped in bacon
D: Uncooked
Chris calls his mother Pat, but unfortunately, she
doesn't know. So, he decides not to take the gamble, and
walk away. I guess that means the "great wealth" in
Chris' horoscope meant $16,000, which is what he's
taking home. Oh, and the answer was A.
Next up is Emily Jensen (Montclair, NJ). She also didn't
know the answer to that last question, likely because
her fiancé does the cooking. Yes, fiancé. She's getting
married in June, so she could use the money. Emily
starts making that money by knowing that in "Goldilocks
and the Three Bears," the bears discover Goldilocks
while she is sleeping in bed (at least she wasn't
watching Pay-Per-View there, or else the bears would
have been really ticked). Emily has no problem getting
through the lower tier, and soon after, she has this for
$4,000...
At the end of a tennis match, the chair umpire commonly
makes what announcement?
A: Match, game, set
B: Game, match, set
C: Set, game, match
D: Game, set, match
Emily turns to the audience for help. 82% of the studio
audience says D, and so does 50% of the AIM users. So,
she goes with D... and it's D!
And there's the horn. Emily will return to the hot seat
next time. |
