First of the week, first defense for
Siobhan.
Siobhan McKenney
Austin, TX
systems administrator
$10,799 |
Dave Mackie
Cary, NC
software developer |
Jennifer Montgomery
Encinitas, CA
jazz radio station development director |
Siobhan starts with $200
Alliterative Food & Drink, finding the Daily Double under $600.
She bets the max of $1000 on this: this cocktail of gin, cherry
brandy & lemon juice is named for a city near the Malay Peninsula.
"What is a Tom Collins?" That's... not it. It was a Singapore
sling, leaving her with -$800. She does get out of the hole with
$1400 at the half to Jennifer's $4800. Dave in the middle is the
go-ahead run at $1200 for Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
Are You "Exp"-erienced? Jennifer finds the first Daily Double
under $1200 Portrait of a Lady. She bets $4000 on this: Sir John
Everett Millais captured the madness of this tragic character seen
here. "Who is Ophelia?" Correct for $11,200! She also finds the
one under $2000 Jimmy. She bets $4000 on this: after his daring
April 1942 raid, he & his crew bailed out over China. "Who is
Jimmy Hoffa?" He bailed out, but not over China. It was Jimmy
Doolittle, leaving her with $14,400. She rebounds to $18,800,
which is good news for her because with $5400 for Siobhan and
$1200 for Dave, it's her game to lose.
Final Jeopardy! in "Space
News": in 2009 NASA named the Combined Operational Load
Bearing External Resistance Treadmill for this man.
Correct response: Who is Stephen Colbert?
The response is in the clue.
Jennifer saw it and wins with $20,000. Siobhan leaves with
$12,799. |

Crab, Eggs and Bacon. Perfect way to
start your breakfast on a Monday morning. Christopher (Crab) and
Kristen (Cube) and Carol (Bacon). And what's good with your
morning breakfast? The daily paper, which says that a Tropical
Heat Wave exists behind the Big Box. Christopher is offered $600
to avoid the headline...$800...NO DEAL! Christopher gets a trip to
Kauai worth $8,101! The next paper; The Style File, which say that
grunge lovers run screaming FROM Curtain #2. Kristen is offered
$700, but she also wants the curtain and gets a washing
machine/dryer combo and maid service for a year worth $4,080. Now
we have Carol and curtain #3. Wayne makes a square deal for the
curtain. That's your clue, and Wayne offers Carol $900. She takes
it, and gives up a NISSAN CUBE WORTH $14,710! Aw.
Wayne has a ladies only game - and it's only for single ladies.
Dana (nice Scandinavian outfit) claims to be single. Now Wayne
needs some single guys. Shannon (football player) is a single guy.
Wayne gives Dana a list of items. Dana wins what she wants and
Shannon wins cash if he correctly guesses what she wants. First
up: $600 or the Small Box. They....both say Box and they both get
$2,000 Gift Card to American Airlines Vacations. That's a nice
first date. 2nd option - $800 or Curtain #1. They both pick
Curtain #1, and they both get a new living room group and plasma
TV worth $3,995. Now each of them can keep what they have or trade
it for Curtain #2. They both keep the $5,995 worth of goodies, and
neither of them get a broken cardboard heart (ZONK!) Good move for
the newly-founded couple.
So now after being single, we need a man and a woman. Stevie
(Pilot) and Maria (Gymnast) will do. Allison brings down a green
and black bag. Stevie gets the black bag and Maria gets the green
bag. Maria is offered the Big Box, but she doesn't want it, and
turns down a set of lost luggage (ZONK!) Maria;'s bag has a trip
to Cancun worth $6,165. Steve can trade his black bag for Curtain
#2 and he will. Inside the black bag...Wayne's Toothbrush (ZONK!)
Behind the curtain - New office furniture worth $4,636. Another
nice deal.
Jardin (Civilian) can have a really nice deal; a NEW DODGE CALIBER
WORTH $16,954!!! It's Tic Tac Deal. Jardin gets to pick 4 cards,
and hoping that she gets 3 x's or 3 o's. She selects 1, 2, 3 and
4. #1...O. #2...X. #3...WILD! So she's got a 50/50 shot at the
card, but she has to pick the wild card. She says O, so Wallet #4
needs to have an O. Wayne offers her a new barbecue grill and
outdoor bar worth $8,597 to call off the deal. She takes the deal.
The 4th wallet had...an X, so a good move by her to quit.
Francisco (Sharp dressed man) gets an envelope. He gets a lot of
money...but how much of it is real? He can elect to go with
Curtain #2 instead and that's what he does. The amount of real
money...$100. So he made a better deal behind the Curtain, which
is an ATV worth $3,200.
The Big Deal today is worth $49,680. So who'll get a crack at it?
TRADE LIST:
Jardin: $8,597
Christopher: $8,101
Maria: $6,165
Shannon: $5,995
Dana: $5,995
Stevie: $4,636
Kristen: $4,080
Francisco: $3,200
Carol: $900
Will Jardin give back the barbecue grill? Yes she will. She
selected door #3. Behind door #2...a Mediterranean Cruise worth
$13,066. Behind her door...a 42 Inch LCD TV, Laptop and a Slingbox
worth $1,930. She takes a plummet down while Door #1 had a PORSCHE
BOXTER WORTH $49,680!!!! So despite all the good deals, we end
Monday on a downer. Let's see if we can make it an upper tomorrow. |

Last week, Gus Hansen was the clear
leader in profit, but that was then... and this is now. Right now,
almost $2 million is on the felt.
Gus Hansen
$695,000 |
Phil Ivey
$124,000 |
Phil "The Poker Brat"
Hellmuth
$98,000 |
Patrik Antonius
$554,000 |
Tom "durrrr" Dwan
$354,000 |
BLINDS: $300/$600
ANTE: $100 |
Daniel Negreanu
$125,000 |
We start this week with Tom playing
J-5 again Ivey's A-4h. Flop: 7-Q-Ad. Ivey calls on bullets. Turn:
4s. Two-pair for Ivey. Bet and a call, and we see the river... 8s.
Durrrr bets $22,400. Phil... decides to call it. He takes down a
healthy $72,000-plus pot.
Three hands into our next flop:
K-9-A. Tom's on 3s. Patrik and Daniel flop top pair. Tom takes the
shot... as does Patrik... as does Daniel with a raise. Tom gets
out of this. Reraise, says Patrik. Daniel goes all-in. For
$243,900... The turn.. Kd. The river... 8s. Daniel wins with
aces over kings... But then two times. Turn: 2d. River: 7s. That
goes back to the Canadian.
Three hands, over $21,000 at stake.
The flop: 6-4-10. Tom checks on 6s up. Gus checks on ace-high.
Ivey checks on 9s. Turn: 8s. A gut-shot for Gus, but a 7 would
give Phil the nut straight. Tom bets, Phil calls. River: 3c. So
far, $54,000 in the pot. Durrrr checks. Phil... checks. And Tom
cashes.
We get to "The Big One", as Daniel
calls it, as he, Ivey, Gus, and durrrr flip for $100,000 a pop.
durrrr: Queens
Daniel: 7d-3h
Ivey: 10h-9d
Gus: 7h-5c
Flop: 4-2-K. Turn: 8s. And the
river... king. Tom adds $300,000 to his stack.
Gus fires $16,600 to end the night
with triple-A to Phil Ivey's aces over 7s. Phil... guesses right
and mucks it. More action from the Golden Nugget tomorrow,
including... a SEVENTH player. |
