Christine Ralph is looking for a blackbelt. Can she karate chop the Banker?
We start with #4 ($7,500), #10 ($1,000), #21 ($300), #14 ($500) and #12 ($10). A very nice
first round gets a very nice first offer: $25,000. But that gets turned down and we get 5 more cases to open.
#6 ($200), #8 ($10,000), #18 ($25,000), #16 ($50,000), and #18 ($100). Not a great round, but the Top 4 are still in play. Offer: $31,000. A very nice second round offer...which is turned down. NO DEAL! 4 to open...
#2...$500,000. Oops. #15 ($50) #20 ($25) and #9 ($400) put her back on the right track. The offer, thanks to $500,000 going away, goes down: $18,000. NO DEAL! 2 cases to go...
#18...$100,000
#11 PENNY CASE
$1, $5, $2,500, $5,000, $75,000, $250,000
OFFER: $25,000
It could be an amazing player's board - or junk - in 2 picks...
NO DEAL! 2 picks to go...
#7...$2,500. She's guranteed at least one big case...
#22...$5,000. Make it 2 big cases. It's a player's board.
$1, $5, $75,000, $250,000
OFFER: $37,500
NO DEAL. One to go
#3...$1!
$5, $75,000, $250,000
OFFER: $50,000
As long as she avoids the $250,000, the offer goes up. Christine...is not going to take the chance. Deal for $50,000! Next case...$250,000! So the offer would have dropped - but she had the $75,000. So not a great deal, but a nice pay day nonetheless. |

AMERICA'S CAPTAIN

Chico's on a boat, so Gordon is on the recaps - and America is on the hunt for some Christmas money. Round 1's categories are Travel (blue),
TV (pink), History (yellow), Celebs (purple), Whatever (green),
and Fashion (orange). Betsy gets the first 3 questions right, so she's safely into the next round. Chad gets the next question right, but Alicia gets the next 3, which moves herself into the next round while knocking out Chad. The contestants lead America, $2,100-$300.
And Alicia gets on a roll. She takes the next 3 questions and sweeps Betsy right out of the game. She leads America with a whopping $5,100-$300, which is almost as bad as what Oklahoma did to Missouri this past Saturday.
Time for Alicia to take on America
in the Head-to-Head.
- Holidays for $500
- Hip Hop for $1000
- Politics for $2000
- Las Vegas for $3000
- Silver Screen for $4000
- Phobias for $5000
We say hi to Mitchell Szczepanczyk, a good friend of the site and a good friend of the Game Show Congress. Unfortunately for Mitchell, Alicia wins 3 of the first 4 questions and has $10,600 for the win. Will she play Double or Nothing? She will!
The question...What is the name that Tom Hanks gave to his volleyball in Cast Away? She knows it. Wilson. And that's right for a payout of $21,200! Now she actually has a 6th question - phobias - but she doesn't get to play quadruple or nothing. Booo, cheap skate producers. Congratulations to Alicia though. 3 new players tomorrow! |

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
by Don Harpwood
Air time: check local listings
Host: Meredith Vieira
On the Web:
www.millionairetv.com |

Bryan Bishop (Los Angeles, CA) begins the week with $16,000 and 3 lifelines. As for this week's expert, it's the man that hosted the World Series of Pop Culture, Pat Kiernan.
[$25,000] (Wee Tales)
In the classic tale by Washington Irving, Rip Van Winkle sleeps for so long that he misses what momentous event?
A: French and Indian War
B: American Revolution
C: U.S. Civil War
D: War of 1812
Bryan asks the audience, and 55% are saying B. He trusts them... and he has $25,000!
[$50,000] (Asian Cities)
Which of these Asian cities once boasted a vast series of canals, or klongs, which gained it the nickname "Venice of the East"?
A: Seoul
B: Singapore
C: Hanoi
D: Bangkok
After mentioning that he has never been to any of those cities, Bryan asks the expert. Pat says that he has been to Bangkok, and that there is an extensive network of canals there, so he'd recommend D, though he isn't 100% sure. Bryan locks in D... and that is the right answer!
[$100,000] (Athletic Venues)
When filled to capacity for a game, what college's football stadium temporarily becomes the third largest "city" in its state?
A: University of Nebraska
B: University of Wisconsin
C: University of Alabama
D: University of Tennessee
He may be knowledgeable about college football, but Bryan admits that this is tough. He's thinking it's not B or D, though, so after thinking about it, he uses the Double Dip with 8 seconds on the clock. Bryan's first answer is A... and he's right!
[$250,000] (Bee-ginnings)
The National Spelling Bee was first organized in 1925 by a newspaper based in what U.S. city?
A: Charlotte, NC
B: Cincinnati, OH
C: Louisville, KY
D: Memphis, TN
Bryan is thinking that one of those might have "The Bee" as its newspaper. He says that A has "The Observer", and B has "The Inquirer". But he can't decide between the other two, so Bryan lets the clock hit 0. After seeing that it is C, "Bald Bryan" leaves with $100,000!
Tracy Bielaczyc (Traverse City, MI) - Is "geeked" to be there
Menu:
Lower - No Boys Allowed, Intensive Care, Holiday Eats, Kickin' Assets, Kid Lit
Middle - Back to Reality, Big-Screen Science, Canines; It's a Gas, Gas, Gas; American Ingenuity
Upper - Riding the Rails, Small Procedures, Crime Fighters, The First Time, Thomas Edison
Tracy secures $1,000, then eventually, she reaches this...
[$16,000] (It's a Gas, Gas, Gas)
To extend their shelf life, bags of potato chips are often filled with what gas before being sealed?
A: Helium
B: Radon
C: Nitrogen
D: Xenon
Unsure of this, Tracy calls her cousin, Ethan, who happens to be a rocket scientist! Ethan says that he's thinking B, though his confidence level is about 50% (that last bit came as time ran out on the call). Then, with just 2 seconds left, Tracy uses the Double Dip. Her first answer is B... but it's wrong! She then makes C her second answer just as time runs out... and she's right!
[$25,000] (American Ingenuity)
Noted satirist H.L. Mencken famously claimed that "the only American invention as perfect as a sonnet" is a what?
A: Baseball
B: Revolver
C: Phonograph
D: Martini
Tracy asks the audience, and 58% are thinking D. She trusts them... and she has $25,000! And that is all for today; Tracy returns tomorrow! |
