Now if you've noticed, the first 2 days of
5th Grader have been repeats of NASCAR Week (as seen on MNT). This is
the first 'unseen' episode pf NASCAR, and we get Kurt Busch, who's a
former NASCAR Champion. Danielle gets in the passenger's seat first.
5th Grade Social Studies: If a U.S. President is impeached and all 100
Senators are voting, how many votes are needed to remove him/her from
office? Kurt thinks it's a majority, but it's 2/3, which means you need
67. We need an early save from Danielle. Will we get it? Yes we will!
Total; $5,000.
4th Grade Math: If six squared is 36, then -6 squared is equal to what?
That's ALSO 36. Kurt says...-36. The negative is also what's going to
happen to his stash. Total: $0.
5th Grade Ancient History: What Carthaginian leader famously marched his
soldiers and elephants over the Alps to attack Roman territory in Italy?
Kurt goes with Genghis Khan, but he's in China, which is the wrong
continent. The right answer is Hannibal the Cannibal, whose been
responsible for llamaing off Robby Roseman. Hannibal now has another
victim. Total: $0.
And Hannibal is done with Danielle as well. Perhaps Zach will be luckier
and not eat a llama.
3rd Grade World Geography: The nation of Denmark is located on what
continent? That's a very easy answer of Europe. Kurt gets it and we have
money again. Total: $2,500.
4th Grade Earth Science: Which of these refers to a layer of
electrically charged air in the atmosphere: Ionosphere, Stratosphere, or
Troposphere? Kurt says the Ionosphere, despite not using his Cheats. he
doesn't need to. Total: $6,000.
3rd Grade Astronomy: The first person to orbit the Earth was from what
country?
Kurt's going to go with Russia. Russia is...right! Total: $8,500.
Zach didn't have to do any work. Malachi, with two Cheats remaining, may
have to. Or may not.
2nd Grade Music: If three of your fans are in the stands playing a
tom-tom, a bongo and a snare, what type of musical instrument are they
all playing? Of course it's drums. Kurt did not do the music thing and
wants to Peek. Malachi says Drums, and Kurt agrees. Everyone's right!
Total: $9,500.
2nd grade Grammar: How many words are in the predicate of the sentence
'Malachi walks his dog'? Malachi is the subject. that makes everything
the predicate, or 3. Kurt copies Malachi's answer, so we need a 3 from
Malachi. We get...3! Total: $10,500.
Those would be the last 2 Cheats used in back to back questions. Kurt is
now all alone in the driver's seat.
1st Grade Animal Science: Which of the following animals does NOT have a
cloven hoof: Camel, Sheep or Wolf? Kurt thinks a wolf has paws. He is
absolutely...right! Total: $11,000.
1st Grade Measurements: When the clock reads 9:30 PM, the minute hand is
on the nine. Nope - the minute hand is on the 6. Kurt says False, and
he's got it. Total: $11,500.
Now will Kurt risk $11,500 for $115,000? The subject is U.S. History.
Kurt will....GO FOR IT! Kurt will match it if he's wrong, so it's a
win-win situation for NASCAR. The question: Which was the last of the
original 13 American colonies to ratify the U.S. Constitution? Kurt says
Pennsylvania, but it's not right. The right answer was Rhode Island. So
the NASCAR Foundation is still getting $11,500; $2,500 from 5th Grader
and $9,000 from Kurt Busch. Ouch.
'If you think when the President passes a bill, it means he wants
somebody else to pick up the check, you might not be smarter than a 5th
Grader.'
On CMT, it's Day #3 of Special Delivery
Week. Kira Henderson is jogging her way into the classroom (Gordongram:
not something you want to do if you're expecting in 10 days, but I
digress). She's having a little girl named Kennedy Marie. The middle
name is not Madison, but it could be...
3rd Grade Geometry: True or False: A quadrilateral could have all acute
interior angles. Kira thinks you can, so it's True. Pablo and Annalise
both say False. The kids are right, but is Madison? Yes she is, for the
Save. Total: $2,500.
5th Grade Anatomy: What organ in the human body has pleural fluid? Kirsa
is stumped, so she uses her Copy. The answer is The Lungs. Madison
wrote...the Liver. Love her or Liver. Total: $0.
5th Grade World History: The 1894 Sin-Japanese war was a conflict
between Japan and what other country? Kira's gut says Korea. Her gut
needed to say China. Total: $0.
Madison, like Kira's current bank account, is no longer in play. Maybe
Pablo can help out with both.
2nd Grade U.S. Geography: If Annalise is visiting the only state that
borders 4 of the 5 Great Lakes, what U.S. State is she visiting? Kira
says Michigan, and this time, she's right. Total: $1,000.
4th Grade Cultural Studies: The Ashanti people, mostly farmers, are
native to what continent? Kira uses her last cheat and Peeks at Pablo's
paper, which says Africa. Kira will go with it, and she's absolutely
right. Total: $4,500.
She also has absolutely no cheats left, which means she has to get
through 5 questions by herself.
4th Grade Literature: In Anna Sewell's novel 'Black Beauty', the title
character is what species of animal? Kira thinks it's a horse. It IS a
horse. Total: $8,000.
3rd Grade Social Studies: Which of the following office holders is
elected for the shortest term: U.S. President, U.S. Representative or
U.S. Senator? Kira says it's the U.S. Representative, and with 2 years,
she's right again! Total: $10,500.
2nd Grade Earth Science: By definition, Magma is which of the following
states of matter: Gas, Liquid or Solid? She thinks it's liquid. It IS
liquid and she's right. Total: $11,500.
1st Grade Astronomy: Which of the planets in our solar system has the
most water? Kira quickly and confidently says Earth. Make it 6 straight
questions correct. Total: $12,000.
1st Grade Vocabulary: What is the plural form of the word 'Woman'? Kira
says Women and goes with it. This woman has a lot of money. Total:
$12,500.
Does Kira want to try to turn $12,500 into $125,000? The subject: U.S.
History. Kira is going to err on the side of caution and quit. She walks
with $12,500, which is a nice haul.
NIGHTCAP! Will Ty'ese go for $30,000 in the subject of U.S. Geography?
Yes she will! The question: Built in 1929, the world's highest
suspension bridge, the Royal Gorge, is located in what U.S. State?
Ty'ese guesses Georgia. The answer is...Colorado. But she only loses
$500 and gets the $2,500 credit card, which isn't that bad. More players
tomorrow. |

Shelley
Los Angeles
mother of 3, grandmother of 7 |
Harold
residence unknown
doctoral student |
Richard Rose
Los Angeles
married dad |
FIRST 21 WINS
trip to Palm Springs |
Hand #1: Harold's 2 is the meat in
a king sandwich. Richard passes a 4 to Shelley for 14. Shelly
returns the favor twice with two nines to bust him out. Shelley
then works on Harold with an 8 for 10, then keeps an ace away from
him for 15... then catches 21 on a 6 to take the round, the trip,
a chip, and 1000 points. Richard has 100. Harold not on the board
yet.
Hand #2: Shelley and Richard get
10-cards again with Harold on a 5. Richard passes a 5 to Shelley
for 15. Shelley once again returns the favor with a 9, but Richard
would get the right to freeze next question, a right he gladly
exercises. Harold finally gets on the board with a 5 for 10.
Shelley doubles that for 20... then busts Harold out the door with
a king. But then karma comes back in the form of a 7 to give
Richard the round.
Final Hand: Shelley gets a 9 to
Richard's jack. Shelley picks up a queen and freezes at 19.
Richard needs an ace or a face to win... and he gets the ace to
win, 21-19.
Bonus Round with three Power Chips:
1) 9 - 6 - 7
2) K - A = 21 ($5000)
3) 7 - 4 - Q = 21 ($1000)
PASSED: 4, J
And that's enough for Richard, who
leaves with $6000. BUT... playouts are fun, aren't they? Next
card... a jack. Chip it for a... 5. Good call.

Beverly Schneider has 3 grown
children, a husband, a dog, and is a paralegal from Rhode Island.
She'd love to go to Tuscany, pay off the mortgage, get a new car,
and get something for the kids. Not too ambitious for a Wednesday,
eh? Anyways, she has Case #18, but she wants to switch it for case
#16, because #7 is her lucky number. Wha? Anyhoo, she starts with
#7 (Meg) - $25. Maybe she has something after all. #14 (Kevin) -
$200. #9 (Angela) - $5. #18 (Dan). Her old case had...$10! #17
(Andrea) - $400. Good choices so far, which does not make the
Banker happy. OFFER: $21,000. NO DEAL!
Let's strangely get rid of 5 more cases. #21 (Bob) - $100. #15
(Pattie) - $50. #12 (Kim) - $1. #10 (Tiffany) - $10,000. #11
(Gene) - $7,500. $10,000 is the highest case selected at all. And
the last 2 cases are the first 2 selected on the right hand side.
OFFER: $33,000. NO DEAL! 4 cases to open.
#13 (Jen) - $2,500. #19 (Jerry P.) - $300. #4 (Mark) - $75,000. #3
(Frannie) - $500. What a spectacular board this is. This is HUGE:
PENNY!, $1,000, $5,000, $25,000, $50,000, $100,000, $250,000,
$500,000
OFFER: $65,000
That's a HUGE offer right now. Maybe a bit TOO huge: Only 3 cases
are bigger, and if any of them get knocked off, the number will go
down. But qwe get a quick NO DEAL!!! 2 cases to open.
#20 (Erin) - $25,000
#6 (Dave) - $5,000. Very nice round.
PENNY!, $1,000, $50,000, $100,000, $250,000, $500,000
OFFER: $96,000
2 Cases to open. If both big numbers go away, the offer will
plummet, but if both small numbers go away, then the least she can
walk out with is $50,000. Beverly's...not going to risk her
mortgage money. DEAL FOR $96,000!!!! But did she stop too early?
Next 2 cases...#1 (Rosa) - PENNY! #2 (Albert) - $500,000 (OFFER:
$88,000) Next case...#22 (Reva) - $50,000. (OFFER: $120,000). Next
case...#8 (Latisha) - $100,000 (OFFER: $131,000). Inside Beverly's
Case...$1,000! Beverly made a GREAT Deal! We'll see if people can
do even better tomorrow. |

The Big Deal hasn't been won in 8
days. Will it be won today? Wayne, Jonathan, Allison and Gendel
(Karate Master) show up today, and Wayne gives Gendel an offer:
$600 or a Big Box. Make it $700...$800...No Sale. Gendel gets an
antique Fridge (ZONK!) which he promptly kicks. Wayne gives him
$100 for the feat. Heh. We continue with the sweet science with
Shawn the boxer. He gets Curtain #2...or $900. This time, the
boxer takes the money, and turns down a set of ancient
refrigerators (ZONK!). Wayne once again goes to a dealer - this
one is Kathryn the 1980's Rock Star. Wayne will offer up to $1,500
for the curtain, but she turns it down. Is there a third straight
zonk back there? No. This time, we have a cast aluminum bar with
bar stools and a backyard spa, plus $3,000 in case, for a deal of
$12,962!!! That's a great deal for Kathryn.
Wayne wants to buy someone's outfit. He chooses Yolanda (Mustard.
What's up with all the ketchup and mustard outfits?) and her
mustard hat for $600. She can spend it immediately on the Big Box.
She doesn't want it, and doesn't want BRAND NEW kitchen appliances
worth $2,100. Does she want the Small Box Jonathan just came down
with? No she doesn't, and she doesn't want her hat back. But maybe
she would have...I'll explain later. Last time to shop, and this
time it's Curtain #2. She passes again, and passes on on a
horse-drawn carriage (ZONK!) Wayne gives Yolanda her hat back, but
not the KEYS under it for a VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE WORTH $18,290!!!!!!!
So no car, but she does have the $600.
We're done with mustard. Who wants a hot dog? Altovese (Hot Dog)
gets an envelope, or Curtain #1. One of these items is worth
$5,000. Oooh. She wants the curtain and turns down the check,
worth...$100. Altovese gets $5,000 in the form of a pair of Fly
Scooters and a $1,000 gas card! Nice win for her.
Wayne wants a couple. A couple of what, you ask? A couple of
people celebrating their 30th anniversary. Donna and David go to
the Let's Make a Deal shopping mall with $2,000 in spending money.
First box is worth $300, which Donna buys. They get a French Press
coffee maker and a year's supply of coffee worth $545. Box #2 is
worth $500. They'll buy that too and get...Turtle Wax. Box #3 is
worth $700. They purchase that one also and receive a Jewelry Box
worth $99. So not much going on at the Let's Make a Deal Mall.
They can trade everything for the Big Box, which they do. However,
let's open up that Jewelry Box to show...$5,000! Ouch, and a
bigger ouch when we show the Big Box has Jonathan and the Big
Catch of the Day, complete with rod, reel, fish and Allison (ZONK!).
Wayne still gives them $200 for being good sports.
We've rustled up Tiffany the Cowgirl, who can win an Amazon Cruise
worth $11,032!! How does she get it? She picks 3 out of 7 cards,
and if she gets either 3 X's, 3 Os, or 2 of each and a wild card,
she wins. She selects 4 cards - 4, 7, 1 and 5. She starts with a
WILD..and she selects X. Envelope #1...X. Envelope #7...O. The
last envelope needs an X. She gets...we don't know what it is yet
because Wayne's going to offer her computer, camcorder and digital
camera package worth $5,480. She wants the computer package (and
so would I), but would she have been going to the cruise? No,
because the envelope had an O. So a nice deal for Tiffany.
Wayne wants someone who will lose his mind. He gets tackled by
Jefferey (Deck of Cards), so Jefferey gets the offer. Wayne will
give him a chance to win any prize that was offered. Jefferey
wants the car. Allison beings down 3 cards. Behind one of them
says 'Win'. If he picks the card, he wins the car. Jefferey wants
card #2, which says...ZONK. Jefferey wins a Zonk, which I guess is
what you get for tackling the host.
Wayne wants someone to tackle the Big Deal worth $28,012. Who will
have a chance at it?
TRADE LIST:
Kathryn: $12,962
Tiffany: $5,480
Altovese: $5,000
Shawn: $900
Yolanda: $600
Donna/David: $200 and a model catching-fishing set
Gendel: $100 and a Karate-Damaged Fridge
Jefferey: A Zonk Card and a chance to man-hug Wayne Brady
Kathryn wants to keep her patio stuff. Tiffany wants to keep the
computer package. Altovese is NOT going to keep her $5,000 worth
of scooters and gas card. She wants to take a chance and door #3.
Behind door #1...a new snowmobile worth $10,799. Behind Door
#3...a new Bedroom Suite worth $3,856. She needed the bedroom
suite, so good for her, but maybe she would have preferred a set
of trips to Hawaii, Greece and New York. That was worth $28,012,
and that's now 9 days that no one's picked The Big Deal. Will we
hit 10 tomorrow? Join us and see... |
