Blackjack returns to GSN in the form
of this new show.
Patricia "Pat" Brown
bill collector |
Bob Abramoff
Atlantic City, NJ
attorney |
Gordon Francolite
Miami Beach, FL
website builder |
We start with one card each.
Patricia gets a Queen, Bob gets a 6, and Gordon gets a 5. You earn
more cards by answering questions. You can keep a card you win, or
pass it to your opponents. You can freeze if you think you'll bust
out on the next question, but remember this... It's 100 points a
question and 500 for winning the round.
Round 1: Gordon gives a 4 to Pat
for 14. Pat gives Bob a Jack for 16. Gordon gives Bob a Queen to
bust him out. Bob keeps an Ace for 6/16. Pat passes a deuce to
Gordon for 8/18. Gordon passes Pat a 9 to bust, giving Gordon 900
for the round to Pat's 200. Bob has zero.
Round 2 is an elimination round.
Player with the lowest score is going bye-bye. Pat gets a bullet
for 1/11, Bob gets a 3, and Gordon has a 7 to start. Gordon's 6
goes to Bob. Gordon's 3 goes into his bank. Bob scores a King and
freezes at 19. Pat needs a face... She catches 21 for 500, giving
her 800. Gordon's 1100 also holds up, but Bob with 100 is out.
Round 3 is all about the cards.
First, Pat gets a 5 and Gordon gets a 4. Gordon gets a 6 for 10
and passes an 8 to Pat. Pat gets a 7 for 20. She freezes. Gordon
gets the deal... 10... He needs an Ace to win... 5 busts, and Pat
wins the game and $1000.
Now it's Pat vs. the house. Three
hands for Pat... a 3, a 7, and a 6. This round plays like the
Flash game. She'll win $1000 for one 21, $5000 for two, and
$25,000 for all three. She gets two power chips she can use to
pass cards. But if she busts out, it's over.
3 - 8 - K = 21
7 - 6 - 3
6 - 2 - 2 - A = 21
Passed: 7
One hand left... will she play it
or take the money and run? She'll take the $5000. That gives her
$6000 for today. Was it a good move? Next two cards: Queen... and
King! Good move! |

Mark has his work cut out for him
defending his title against...
Mark Wales
Amherst, NY
substitute teacher
$22,001 |
Amy Coffee
Las Vegas
public defender |
Daniel Weissman
Menlo Park, CA
graduate student |
Daria starts with $200 1980s Rock,
leading at the TV time out with $5400 to Daniel's $2800 and Amy's
$800.
Last category is The Navy SEALS,
and the Daily Double is under $600. Daniel bets $5000 on this,
Jimmy? "On the Navy SEAL emblem, the anchor, eagle, and pistol
stand for sea, air, and land, and this weapon represents all
three, and is the name of the emblem itself." "What is a trident?"
Correct for $12,600! He leads at the half with $13,400 to Marks'
$6200. Amy has $2800 and will start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 "En"chanted. Mark
finds the Daily Double under $1200 Dan in Real Life. He bets $7000
on this: in 2004 he had 4 novels on the bestseller lists at the
same time. "Who is Dan Brown?" Correct for $17,200! The other is
under Juneau for $1200. Daniel, after getting docked a few for
mispronouncing Castellaneta (as in the voice of Homer Simpson), he
goes big, $12,000 big, on this: the annual fishing derby for this
fish features one tagged specimen worth $100,000. "What is
salmon?" That works for $31,400! He leads going into the final
with $33,000 to Mark's $24,800 and Amy's $4400.
Final Jeopardy! in "Nonfiction": in 1947 editor William Styron
said this book was a long, "tedious Pacific voyage best suited for
National Geographic." Correct response: what is "Kon-Tiki"?
Mark's right. Daniel.... Wrong.
Mark will repeat with $33,001, giving him a two-day take of
$55,002. |

BLINDS: $100/$200 |
Doyle has A-K to Durrrr's
Q-Js. The flop: 2-Q-2, giving Tom two pair. Turn: 4s. River: 4d. Doyle's
got two pair, but so does Tom, Queens over 4s. Tom bets into it on the
river. Doyle mucks his hand and Tom wins $7350.
Tom calls Huck's reraise
with 5s to his Kings. Flop: 10-9-K. Huck flops top set. Turn: 8c. Tom's
drawing dead here. Huck raises on the river... and gets $6900 as Tom
check-folds. He'll try to get some of that money back with 3s to
Andrew's K-Q. Flop: K-4-3, giving Tom the set to Andrew's pair. Andrew
bets, though. Turn: 8d. Andrew's now dead. Johnny heads to the couches
to crash for a bit while this hand plays out. Andrew calls. River: Jd.
Tom's all-in... and Andrew says... take it. He wins $29,025.
Price of poker goes up to
end the night. Andrew bets with A-8. Brian calls with K-Q. So does Tom
with 5s. Flop: 3-8-7. Andrew flops top pair, top kicker.... and chases
out everyone for $5700.
One net is up, but that can
change at any time. |

Today's show is a special...
three people from the same band, Fools and Horses.
Candy
looks for a guy who's a challenge |
Matt
25
singer/guitarist |
Tim
24
drummer/Matt's brother |
Steve
26
guitarist |
Playlist for Candy to start
is "Hero", "The Long and Winding Road", "I Fought the Law", "Ugly",
"It's My Life", and "Genie in a Bottle". First Centerstage Challenge:
it's a battle of the one-man bands.
Video Playlist: "Waiting on
the World to Change" by John Mayer, "4 Minutes" by Madonna & Justin
Timberlake featuring Timbaland, "Stop and Stare" by Onerepublic, "Where
is the Love" by the Black Eyed Pea, and "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey.
Centerstage Challenge #2: Jazzercising to Kanye West's "Stronger".
Headbands and all.
Time to get the audience's
feedback.... 60% like Steve, but Matt is only in for a paltry 4%,
meaning it's time for him to go solo. Will his plea for her affection
work? Yep. Tim gets booted, so Matt and Steve are on the bill.
Time to hit the stage. The
frontman sings the original "Would You Know". The drummer counters with
original "The Therapy". A concert hangs in the balance in New York City,
and who'll get a sweet taste of Candy? That'll be Matt. |
