Inie Park
(associate from Los Angeles); $10,800 |
|
Jim Mainguy
(customer service representative from North
Vancouver, BC) |
|
Celeste DiNucci
(grad student from Philadelphia) |
Back in the saddle after
a good two weeks at GSC, and we begin with Inie
beginning with $200 Let's Start a Club. She trails only
$200 at the TV time out, $1600 to Jim's $1800.
(C-NOTE: Celeste is on a
mission of redemption. Her brother lost to Jerome Vered
in 1992.)
Celeste finds the Daily
Double under $800 Abbreviated US States. She bets $1200
on this: the 2 states whose abbreviations are informal
words for father & mother. "What are Pennsylvania and
Massachusetts?" PA and MA give Celeste $4200. She leads
at the end of the round, $5200 to Jim's $3600. Inie,
still at $1600, will start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 British
Poets. Celeste finds the Daily Double under $1600 Ted's
Hues. She bets $5200 on this: Ted was in Ankara when he
learned this bluish hue's name was derived from a
western Asian republic. "What is China blue?" Nope, it's
turquoise, dropping Celeste to a minor lead, $9200. Inie
can catch up with $1600 Pope, the second Daily Double.
She bets only $1100 on Vatican apartments originally
built for Alexander VI named for this power-hungry
family of his. "Who are the Medici?" Nope, they're the
Borgias, leaving her with $100. She'll run out with
$3300 to Jim's $2400, but with Celeste at $12,800, it
looks like redemption is nigh.
Final Jeopardy! in "European Countries":
this co-principality is considered to have had the last
remnant of the medieval Europe's feudal system. Correct
question: What is Andorra?
Jim gets it right, but
it's really Celeste's to win... and she does with
$12,800. Inie leaves with $11,800. |

Brito
(Yula, Jose, Xiolimar, Carlos, Javier) |
|
Zambrano
(Jorge, Dany, Renato, Diane, Daniela) |
After four rounds, the
Zambranos take the first bank to enter the game, 158 to
the Britos' 187, as we go into this...
Triple Round: something that gives
a warning when it has a fault (3). Javier fires with car, #1. The
rest of the family scores computer, but the Zambranos have one
more chance with motorcycle... Not there! Britos win, 391-158!
Other answer: alarm.
Yula and Xiolimar go to the Dinero
Rápido board, where they make only $500. Perhaps more will await
them with
|
Milano (Sergio,
Marina, Sergio, Valentina, Danny); $6500, four days |
|
Brito
(Yula, Jose, Xiolimar, Carlos, Javier); $500 |
It's the last time for
the Milanos as they try to go five and out. After four
rounds, The Britos lead it, 229 to 75.
Triple Round: something
people say gives bad luck (4). Javier with walking under
a latter goes to #2. Yula gives #1, a black cat.
Breaking a mirror and salt give the Britos the win with
460 to 75. Milanos leave with $6500.
Yula goes to Dinero Rápido,
and apparently she thinks that she's on the English
Feud, because she says she's going for $20,000. Marco
Antonio? "¡En tus sueños!" She draws from la canasta...
"Buena suerte." So we're playing for $5000. Not $20,000,
$5000. Yula gets up to 53. Xiolimar only gets up to 94
for another $500, giving the family $1000 for tomorrow's
show.
And Marco Antonio forgets
what show he's on again. :)
